It's always such a joy to journey through time, especially when it involves witnessing the evolution of something as wondrous as the ballet tutu. This week, my time machine brought me to 16th July 2030. A date, I must tell you, that is simply overflowing with cultural delights! There's a stunning performance of The Nutcracker happening at the Paris Opera House tonight, which, believe me, is something not to be missed! Plus, there’s a fascinating exhibition of costume design at the V&A museum showcasing the evolution of the tutu - I'm absolutely thrilled!
Speaking of tutus, let's rewind a little and take a trip down memory lane. Ever wondered how this iconic piece of ballet attire came to be? It's actually got a surprisingly rich and complex history. Join me on this thrilling fashion adventure as we trace the path of the tutu through the ages!

The very first hint of the tutu, as we know it today, arrived during the Romantic period, around the mid-19th century. The debut of the Romantic tutu, which reached just above the knees, was an absolute game-changer! P.S. As promised, a bit of information on my personal travels this week. I landed in this lovely metropolis yesterday. First thing this morning, after my tea and scones, I took a beautiful stroll around the city's vibrant markets. So many delightful finds, and the clothes! Divine! There were so many pink items in the local shops - even the ladies who were not going to the ballet seemed to be enjoying their pink looks. Later, I had the absolute pleasure of attending a rehearsal at the prestigious ballet school. Watching those talented young dancers work so hard made me proud to be a part of the ballet world!
Now, on to the excitement of my own performance tonight! I can't wait to grace the stage in a new, absolutely stunning pink tutu designed by one of my favourite designers here in this era!
