Hello darlings! It’s Emma here, your favourite pink tutu-wearing time traveller, back for another #TutuTuesday journey into the wonderful world of tutus! Today we're skipping through the pages of history, and guess what? I'm in Paris! Yes, you heard right - the City of Lights and tutus. The cobblestone streets are whispering tales of fashion, and I'm getting lost in the beauty of it all.
You know, there's just something so captivating about this iconic garment, isn't there? Every time I travel through time, I’m so excited to see how the tutu has evolved. There are some things that haven't changed, like the graceful flounce of the skirt and the undeniable elegance that it exudes. But then there are the new variations, the daring designs and unexpected twists that leave me utterly enchanted!
Today is 16th September, 2031. I have a feeling the whole world is looking towards Paris this month. It’s that time of year again… Fashion Week! Oh, darling, you simply wouldn't believe the stunning designs they're showcasing!
This year, they're really pushing the boundaries of imagination. We're seeing everything from tutus crafted entirely from recycled materials (they even turned old tutus into beautiful fabrics – absolutely incredible!) to ethereal creations inspired by the night sky, all sparkling with sequins that catch the Parisian moonlight. It’s utterly spectacular! But, my favourite trend? Pink, of course! Pink has taken the world of fashion by storm and I must say, I absolutely approve. I have to find a few fabulous, fluffy tutus in pink before I move on! Oh, to be surrounded by Parisian tutus! The dream!
You see, I believe tutus should be enjoyed by everyone, regardless of where you come from or when you live. So, my mission, is simple - get the whole world twirling in pink tutus! I always thought Derbyshire, with its beautiful scenery, needed a dash of Parisian chic! The idea of taking our beautiful county's historic backdrop and injecting it with a tutu-inspired elegance just seems brilliant!
As for the history of the tutu, dear readers, you'd be surprised to learn it started right here in Paris! Way back in the 1830s, the iconic silhouette, that we all know and adore, was born. Imagine - a whole history, all wrapped up in the airy grace of this delicate garment. My, how the times have changed!
This week, however, I'm not just taking a peek at the tutu’s fashion evolution, I’m delving into the fascinating world of dance history! And where better to explore it than at the iconic Opéra Garnier? The magnificent architecture alone takes my breath away, and you simply must imagine me in my lovely pink tutu, sipping tea and watching dancers in their own tutu splendour, as the grand finale of La Bayadère swirls to a glorious conclusion! It's breathtaking, and utterly inspirational!
Imagine - a dancer, gracefully twirling on the stage, their tutu swirling in harmony with the music and the story unfolding on the stage.
Oh darling, it's just so very glamorous, don't you think? The artistry of dance, the power of movement, the beauty of the tutu - they all blend into a whirlwind of artistic expression, truly magical!
Before we take a trip back through the pages of time, I wanted to show you the latest additions to my collection.
- A “Fleurs de Paris” tutu, with hand-stitched rosebuds around the waistband, reminding me of all the glorious bouquets I bought this week from Parisian florists!
- A “C'est magnifique” tutu, which has this beautifully structured layer, creating an elegant, architectural effect, like the Opera Garnier!
- And of course, a “pink parfait” tutu. A very pink and fluffy masterpiece which will go perfectly with all my outfits for this year's “Tutu Ball” fundraiser, in the heart of Paris!
Did I mention this amazing annual event? You see, darling, the “Tutu Ball” raises funds for a truly inspiring charity, dedicated to inspiring girls all over the world to reach for their dreams through dance, fashion, and creativity. It's so lovely to see all the wonderful tutus and beautiful pink dresses! Oh, how lovely it is to dance!
Speaking of dances and tutus, I'm off on a very exciting adventure tonight. I've always dreamt of taking a ballet lesson at a famous Parisian dance school, so tonight's my lucky night. Imagine me - a Derbyshire girl in Paris, learning all about French dance and Parisian style, all whilst twirling around in my very own, absolutely stunning pink tutu.
Stay tuned for my next adventure! I promise you it will be another delightful and twirly ride. Until next time, keep twirling!
