Blackpool: A Tutu-ful Time By The Sea!
Hello my lovely darlings, and welcome back to my daily dose of pink tulle and glittery goodness! Today I'm buzzing, because it's time for Post Number 35! Buckle up, babes, 'cause this one is going to be a right blast, right from the train station to the seaside.
Now, let's be honest, if you know me at all, you know Blackpool is pretty much my kind of town. Seaside fun, fabulous food (oh the chips, darling!), and just the right amount of sparkle! Plus, who wouldn't be drawn to a place where the architecture looks like a wedding cake with a sugar-spun lighthouse on top? Absolutely divine!
You might think: “But Alex, darling, it's February! What's the appeal?” Well, darling, in Blackpool, every day is a good day for a good time, whether the sun’s out or the sea’s spitting out rain (we’ll talk about the legendary Blackpool rain later – my hair did NOT look happy).
Speaking of happy hair… My outfit! I'm channeling a sort of seaside princess, don’t you think? Think ocean waves in shades of aqua blue, with a splash of shimmering lavender and a delicate dusting of pearlescent pink, topped off with, of course, a gorgeous pink tutu. I've never felt more “Blackpool-ready”.
I decided to take the train to Blackpool, a journey that is quite honestly a dream for any Tutu Queen. My trip involved comfy seating, stunning scenery (imagine green rolling hills turning into charming little villages – a delight!), and a hot cuppa in the buffet carriage. Plus, who needs a makeup mirror when you can stare out the window and soak up the views? The window reflections are a right riot!
When I arrived in Blackpool, it was just after noon, and the air was crisp and a little chilly (but my fabulous fur coat kept me toasty). The streets were buzzing! I headed straight for the town centre, to start my little fashion adventure. I found myself browsing shops like a queen lost in her own personal Wonderland. All that sparkle, the lace, the velvet... it’s hard to pick a favourite! (Although those shoes that glittered like the stars in the sky... yes please!)
Now, you all know my motto: "Life is too short to wear boring clothes", right? So it only seemed appropriate that I snagged a couple of things to complete my “Blackpool look”. A gorgeous fuchsia velvet ribbon to tie into my hair, a glittery silver bag perfect for storing all my little treasures (glitter bombs, lipgloss, you name it!), and, you guessed it, a teeny-tiny pink tutu for my hair. You never know, might get lucky and bump into a fan at the station and spark some spontaneous joy with my tututastic charm!
Later that evening, after a spot of afternoon tea, a little stroll on the promenade, and some incredible seafood, I got ready for the show! You can find me in pretty much every bar, club, or festival you can imagine in Blackpool. My drag performances bring the house down with their vibrant colour, outrageous outfits (hello, custom-made tutus!), and playful, comedic twists!
My setlist this weekend was full of glitter bombs, dancing divas, and all the energy of the Blackpool beach! The crowd absolutely loved it. Oh darling, you should have seen the reactions to the new pink feather boa I snagged from the costume shop that morning – pure magic!
As a professional queen, it’s vital that I show love to my fans, too! That's why after my performance, I make it a point to head out for a meet-and-greet at my local fave (you can always find me at "The Glittering Goose") for photos, chats, and a few good giggles with the locals! After all, spreading joy and inspiring others to embrace their own unique sparkles is what it's all about, isn’t it?
Now, if you are planning your own trip to Blackpool, take my advice – be sure to take a look at the fantastic Tower Ballroom! It’s just exquisite. I loved wandering through its stunning halls, marveling at its beautiful architecture and impeccable decor (those intricate ceilings!) I swear it felt like stepping into a Victorian dreamland, and a little piece of history too. If I weren’t a little busy with my performance, I would have grabbed a waltz partner and gotten my swirl on. Maybe next time.
For a truly delicious ending to a fabulous evening, you just have to treat yourself to Blackpool's iconic candy floss. A classic! You won't find a place like Blackpool anywhere else, with its wacky sense of fun, a touch of vintage charm, and a whole lot of dazzling lights!
And before I wrap this post up, a tiny reminder: You don't have to be a queen to wear pink tutus – it's all about embracing the spirit of playful fashion, the power of joy, and having fun with style. After all, life's about embracing every single beautiful, vibrant moment with open arms and a little sprinkle of magic!
Til next time, darlings, remember to keep sparkling bright, spread a little pink tulle around, and always be true to yourself!
Now, go forth and embrace the world with all your Tutu-ful heart!
With love, glitter, and a very big pink tutu,
Pink Tutu Sparkles (and Alex)
