Hey Tutu Queens! It’s your girl, Pink Tutu Sparkles, reporting live from… wait for it… drum roll… CHESHUNT! Yep, you heard that right, your favourite pink-clad drag queen has traded the bright lights of London for the charming (and surprisingly pink-friendly) town of Cheshunt. This journey marks post number 151 in my ongoing quest to spread the gospel of the pink tutu. Join me on this fabulous voyage, because let’s be honest, it’s about time we made a splash in this lovely little corner of Hertfordshire!
Now, if you’ve been following my escapades on www.pink-tutu.com, you’ll know that a train journey is as much a part of my drag persona as glitter and boas. So naturally, I had to take the scenic route from Derbyshire, complete with a strategically planned wardrobe change at Nottingham station (because one simply cannot enter a new town without a fresh pink tutu, right?). As I settled into my window seat, I couldn’t help but notice the passing scenery through my fluffy pink eyelash extensions. Fields of green dotted with a riot of colourful flowers were a beautiful prelude to Cheshunt's charming streets. It’s almost like Mother Nature herself was sending me a message, encouraging me to unleash a bit of pink joy!
And that’s exactly what I did. As soon as I touched down in Cheshunt, I hit the town in a dazzling, coral-hued, multi-layered tulle dream. Let’s just say I practically caused a minor traffic jam with all the flashing camera phones! Now, Cheshunt might not be the first place that springs to mind for a glamorous drag queen (you know, like a Soho bar or a Covent Garden performance), but let me tell you, these locals have serious taste! They've got the energy, they’ve got the charm, and trust me, they’ve got the glitter! I’m not kidding, my sparkly fuchsia stilettos left a shimmering trail on the pavement for hours after I strutted down the street.
The best part of travelling around as a drag queen? Every place is an adventure waiting to unfold, with each town bringing a unique vibe and flavour. The locals in Cheshunt are just as warm and welcoming as their picturesque town itself.
While Cheshunt doesn’t boast a ballet theatre (yet!), I have plans to get everyone twirling and swirling in pink tulle! In fact, I just might bring a few extra tutus with me. Because when it comes to spreading pink-tutu joy, a girl's gotta be prepared! You never know when a little bit of fabulousness might be needed, and who knows, maybe this time next week Cheshunt will be home to its first ballet school and we’ll be hosting the Tutu Ball right on the green! (That is my mission, after all, to convert the world one pink tutu at a time).
This blog wouldn't be complete without sharing a bit about my day-job adventures too. Now, if you didn't already know, your Tutu Queen is also a bona fide scientist by day! You’d think a lab full of test tubes and microscopes would clash with my pink tutu lifestyle, but trust me, there's a surprisingly pink connection. I’m part of a team who tests fabric for its durability and colourfastness! Yes, I’m basically the Sherlock Holmes of the textile world. So when my next gig in Birmingham calls for a shimmering gold dress, I know just how to test if it's gonna stand up to the party (and how to wash it later to maintain its glitter). Science, sparkle and a love of tutus, what a winning combination!
But back to Cheshunt! My trip here has given me a real feel-good vibe. I'm loving the town's energy and the people’s sense of community. This journey, with all its bright, happy, sparkly memories, will be one of those moments I always hold dear! And while it’s definitely hard to pick just one pink-tutu moment that I absolutely loved, it was at the Cheshunt Town Hall – now, THAT’s where I found my pink magic. You'll have to stay tuned for tomorrow’s post to discover just what went down in that magnificent building. I think I'm going to have to turn this pink tutu moment into a signature move... watch this space!
