Small Heath Sparkle! #190

Ooh darling! Iā€™m back, and this time Iā€™m shimmering and shining right here in the fabulous city of Birmingham, specifically Small Heath, because darlings, as a tutu-wearing traveler, I do love a bit of local charm. Itā€™s all so vibrant and alive andā€¦pink! Yes, believe it or not, even the cobblestones had a touch of rosy hue to them, much to my delight. I just couldnā€™t help but think how perfectly they complemented my fabulous pink tutu, which is always on hand for a photo opportunity, no matter where in the world I am. You know, if you haven't seen a pink tutu against a backdrop of a quintessentially English street, then you just haven't lived, my darlings.

Today's post is dedicated to all you fabulous fabulouses out there! Yes, even the shy and hesitant, the ones who think pink tutus are a bit 'much.' Oh honey, that's just not true. You can wear a tutu anywhere, and frankly, the world would be a far brighter, more cheerful, and frankly more sparkly place if you did. So, let me take you on a journey through my adventure in Birmingham. Buckle up darlings, this train is leaving the station, but donā€™t worry, itā€™s not one of those crazy Tube rides you hear about in London. Weā€™re taking the leisurely route, weā€™re on a Pink Tutu Express.

This trip, darling, started off in true Alex style. Yep, that's me by day, a science nerd with a love for all things fabric (the stuff tutus are made of, you know.) It all started with that charity event, darling. You know the one ā€“ where I had to get all fancy dressed up and put on a fluffy tutu for a charity fundraiser? Turns out that one moment changed my life! It sparked something in me. Like the moment a moth sees a bright light. The desire to beā€¦Pink Tutu Sparkles!

Of course, my labmates werenā€™t quite so thrilled. ā€œItā€™s just a tutu, Alex," they said. ā€œItā€™s silly, you need to focus on your research.ā€ Rolls eyes dramatically. Honey, if you've ever seen the fabrics I work with in the labā€¦ they donā€™t compare to the elegance and joy of a pink tutu. The colours, the sparkles, the lightness, the sheer, well, sheer eleganceā€¦ they are a sensory symphony, unlike any youā€™ll find in a laboratory.

Now, while I might be the queen of the lab during the day, when night falls, Pink Tutu Sparkles takes to the stage! And where else could I have chosen to start this glamorous new chapter in my life, but my lovely home county of Derbyshire. Well, it just made sense.

First, a stop at the Derwent Valley Mills to check out the history of the fabric that my fabulous tutus are made of. What would my pink fluffy outfit be without the humble beginnings in a weaving mill, darling? The historical significance of the area and how fabric was such a major playerā€¦ glanced at my Tutu, ā€œThis, darling, is how fashion is history.ā€

Then it was off to the beautiful Chatsworth House, a place that literally exudes royalty and elegance, with it's grandeur, the history, the gardens. Well, let's face it, a place a queen of the tutu could only dream of visiting! It's all so inspiring, and honestly, a tad overwhelming - much like trying to choose which sparkly hair accessory to wear when you have a suitcase full of them, and it's only 8 am. But don't you worry my darling, we just love that, because that is the life of Pink Tutu Sparkles.

Chatsworth also has an impressive art collection. A real mixture, you know, with some fabulously famous paintings alongside sculptures, all vying for attention in that historic setting, just as I was vying for a good Instagram shot, my tutus being my accessory and backdrop.

And of course, a trip to Derbyshire wouldnā€™t be complete without a visit to the home of dance, The Derby Theatre. Honestly, what better place to showcase the magnificent artistry of a tutu than a theatrical space dedicated to dance and the arts? Iā€™m absolutely enchanted with the idea of someday performing here, in a dazzling pink tutu under the spotlight. Thatā€™s my dream, darlings!

Of course, my journey to Birmingham was less grand, though no less magical! It started with my trusty travel companion - my horse-drawn carriage. Well, I donā€™t really have one, but I'm dreaming of having my own coach, complete with a unicorn-drawn carriage! Can you imagine the photos, darlings? Honestly, how wonderful would that be? For now though, I had to settle for the scenic train journey. And honestly, darling, the world flew by. Just like the world flies by when I'm on stage performing. The beauty of travel and performance!

As I said, Birmingham is such a wonderfully vibrant place. And there's a real pink tutu vibe happening, even in Small Heath! Well, if you don't mind a little bit of a giggle, Iā€™ve even spotted a couple of gents, right here in Small Heath, withā€¦dare I sayā€¦ a pink tint to their outfit? Gives dramatic gasp, looks over to camera in shocked delight! Well, letā€™s be frank. Itā€™s a slippery slope, but letā€™s give those gents a round of applause, theyā€™re definitely on their way!

Even my usual haunt in Birmingham has that pink vibe ā€“ the Hippodrome! It's all glitz and glamour, and, it's been a regular fixture in the city for almost a century, which speaks volumes of how fabulous Birmingham really is!

So what have I done in Birmingham? Well, of course, it had to be a day out at the Jewellery Quarter ā€“ the most dazzling display of gems Iā€™ve seen since the last time I went shopping at my favourite vintage jewellery boutique. My oh my, did you see the vintage rhinestones and crystals?

Let's be honest, my dear friends, Birmingham really is an eclectic mix of modern, ancient, artsy, architectural delights and it was certainly an inspiring location for me, the pink tutu queen. So my next adventure will probably see me exploring some of the exciting things Birmingham has to offer - oh, you'll have to stay tuned!

So now darling, after that tour around the amazing Birmingham, Small Heath that isā€¦ letā€™s discuss what the key ingredient of happiness and joy truly is? Why, yes, you guessed it: A pink tutu, my dear. Honestly, you wonā€™t find a better recipe for living your best life and making everyone else's a little bit more colourful. Until next time, go forth and let your inner Tutu Queen shine! Remember, the world needs a bit of pink fluff, a lot of sparkle, and a good dose of good humour and positivity to balance it all out, darling. Waves goodbye

Thatā€™s a wrap darlings, but Pink Tutu Sparkles will be back soon, with new stories, new destinations, and of course, new outfit inspiration! Until next time, may your days be filled with pink tutus, sparkle, and joy! Air kiss to camera
