Oh, darlings, today I'm channeling my inner Beatrix Potter and bringing you the highlights of my fabulous trip to Kendal! It's not often I get to trade my sparkly heels for comfy walking boots, but this little adventure in the Lake District was calling to me like the scent of freshly-baked scones!
I travelled in style, of course. A luxurious train journey through the countryside, my pink tulle cascading like a cloud behind me. I couldn't resist slipping into character even in the carriage. A couple of children shrieked with delight at my tutu and gave me a bouquet of wildflowers. It really warmed my sparkly heart!
Kendal itself is an absolute charmer. It felt like stepping into a quaint storybook town. Winding cobblestone streets lined with charming shops and buzzing cafes, where the aroma of coffee mingled with the scent of lavender. I simply had to grab a steaming cappuccino, topped with a perfectly sculpted swan made of fluffy pink foam. How very regal, don't you think?
But my highlight had to be the Kendal Calling festival! Now, I may love a glamorous drag performance, but nothing beats a proper knees-up outdoors with friends and music! The energy was electric, and the crowd was so incredibly welcoming. The vibrant mix of musical acts, street performers, and happy faces made me feel right at home.
You'll be shocked to hear that I actually didn't perform on stage at Kendal Calling! Shocking, I know, even for someone who lives for the limelight. This time, I was there simply to revel in the atmosphere. It was liberating to just dance, sing, and lose myself in the music. I did, of course, wear a shimmering pink tutu. A simple, delicate number with layers of tulle cascading from my waist, sparkling with tiny diamante butterflies. It allowed me to fully embrace the carefree spirit of the festival.
My best discovery at Kendal Calling? The enchanting open-air theatre nestled among the trees! Picture this: dappled sunlight filtering through leaves, birdsong in the background, and an enchanting play unfolding on a quaint wooden stage. It was truly magical! The story itself was whimsical and imaginative, drawing me into a world of fairies, enchanted forests, and heroic deeds.
While I adore the thrill of performing on a stage with flashing lights, this experience was something completely different. It was a testament to the power of storytelling and how theatre can truly transport us. The simplicity of it all was utterly breathtaking, making me realize that even a pink tutu can feel at home in the heart of nature!
It was a trip filled with wonder and unforgettable moments. I learned a lot about myself, too! It reminded me that sometimes, stepping back and embracing the moment is just as magical as being in the spotlight.
As for Kendal Calling, it's officially become a firm favourite! The incredible energy, the infectious spirit, and the breathtaking scenery have left me wanting more.
Of course, I can't leave Kendal without mentioning the incredible shopping! There was so much quirky, charming, and downright dazzling! From artisan crafts to independent boutiques, there were treasures galore just waiting to be discovered. I managed to snag a delightful vintage handbag for a steal - the perfect addition to any Pink Tutu Sparkles outfit.
I wouldn't be myself without mentioning the scrumptious food, too. Local delicacies abound! The fresh, locally sourced produce was a treat for my senses. I'm particularly fond of Cumberland sausage, and Kendal certainly delivered on that front.
