Aberdeen Adventures: TutuQueen Strikes Again! đ©°âš
Hello darlings, itâs your favourite TutuQueen here, ready to share all the glitz and glamour of my latest escapade! This is blog post number 281 (youâre reading my blog daily, right?! You know you can check them all out on www.pink-tutu.com) and today weâre going to be travelling to Aberdeen, Scotland â the land of whisky and kilts (and oh, how I wish they wore pink tutus with their kilts!).
Before I get started on the exciting goings-on of Aberdeen, I want to chat about travel. Because, darling, I am a firm believer that getting there is half the fun. Especially if it's on a train! Yes, darling, my travel companions are my trusty pair of pointe shoes (or a comfy pair of trainers, sometimes even those are pink, darling, just you wait and see!) and my big comfy suitcase (canât fit much else with all my tutus in it!) on board the old fashioned steam train (I prefer vintage, darling, adds to the character â I mean, just think of the photographs!) This train ride was something else!
My train carriage journey was straight out of a classic period drama - polished wood panels, soft plush seats (one was even adorned with delicate pink flowers â divine!), and the delightful aroma of roasted peanuts and chamomile tea that filled the air (not to mention my stash of pink macarons - a girly must!) All the right ingredients for a dream journey. We snaked through quaint English towns with charming brick houses, and then onto the spectacular Scottish scenery â rolling hills dotted with sheep (and sheepdogs! - how elegant! Imagine them in tutus, just like their owner!), and even a glimpse of the wild Atlantic crashing onto the shore. A journey for the senses. Of course, a journey wouldn't be complete without a proper girly fashion show for all my fellow passengers to enjoy. And oh, darling, I didn't disappoint! Letâs just say my vintage pink dress and sparkly diamantĂ© stilettos (perfect for walking around on a cobbled train platform! ) created a buzz (and several shocked gasps and delighted shrieks! I told you it was good!) Theyâre just not ready for the sheer joy and fashion I bring. And this, my dears, is my mission - to introduce everyone to the glorious joy of a pink tutu! You never know, someone might be inspired and bring one to their next wedding! A vision, isnât it?! Pink tutus and kilts, the perfect match!
The station at Aberdeen was alive with the bustle of tourists and locals alike. I stepped out onto the platform feeling energised, ready to share my love for tutus with this charming city! I had booked into a boutique hotel with gorgeous floral patterned wallpaper - every pink-loving TutuQueenâs dream - and a magnificent view over the city, and its beautiful harbour (hello gorgeous!)
Now, darling, let's talk about what makes Aberdeen the perfect place for a tutu-wearing Queen:
Firstly, the stunning architecture! Imagine a cityscape with beautiful granite buildings, gothic spires piercing the sky (oh, darling, just imagine a tutu against that backdrop!) Oh, the photography possibilities! And then there are the charming cobbled streets winding their way through the city, with gorgeous, old-world shops filled with antique treasures (I even found a vintage pink tutu, darling! Just imagine, 50 years old! - oh the stories it could tell! And me! A true historian! You have no idea how much it would cost to make now! ) I have to share this tip, darling, if you're a TutuQueen on a budget - you can often find hidden treasures in antique shops, perfect for adding that unique touch to your outfit! A bit like a drag treasure hunt, but far less scary. Darling, if it was scary, weâd need to add extra sequins - so it's not scary.
Then there are the bustling fish markets! Donât get me wrong, darlings, I wouldnât want to find myself inside a fish market during a âdragtasticâ performance - imagine all that seafood, the aroma - I can practically taste it, can you imagine it in my outfit! - but oh darling, the fish are beautiful, and colourful, just like my world - the colours are fantastic and you should try a delicious plate of the local delicacy, âFish and Chipsâ! (Pink sauce? It was the only pink on the menu! But just imagine how amazing it would be if I was allowed to get out the Tutu Queenâs own signature Pink Sauce to top the meal with?! A taste sensation for the taste buds - pink sauce, Iâve been saying it for ages! ) The flavours are divine and a real treat for the taste buds. Oh, don't get me wrong - fish can be incredibly delicious! It just shouldn't be on my dress - because the colour pink has got to be the priority. The fish and chips I ordered were light, crisp, and tasted like pure magic. Oh, you'll need a Tutu- Queen approved meal while youâre in Aberdeen - oh darling! I have to add a word on fishmongers (oh darling, so good-looking!) in all those markets! A true specimen! - the sort that would give me a red rose and bow down to my beautifulness in my magnificent tutus and sequin outfits. I canât deny it darling, even the most wonderful TutuQueen loves to feel appreciated for her efforts (imagine all the sequins and embellishments! Itâs no wonder I need to have my âTutu Queenâ assistants - otherwise I would be drowning in them). Now back to our trip...
Oh, and I cannot forget to mention the glorious coastal walks! I canât deny I find it utterly relaxing to go on walks in beautiful scenery. I do love to hear the sea lapping against the rocks (even if those rocks are not quite as glamorous as my pink diamantĂ© covered boots). The air is fresh, invigorating, and perfect for enjoying a scenic picnic with the breathtaking backdrop of the ocean and those impressive pink granite cliffs (again, that amazing photographic opportunity!). The pink sky at sunset â the colours so divine, a gift from heaven - how beautiful it is. Pink just pops against that sea backdrop, the turquoise colours - well it is a breathtaking and calming environment (not as calm as me doing a series of pirouettes on a perfect pointe shoes in a pink satin outfit.
I just love ballet, darling. You have to have seen me perform in âSwan Lakeâ on a theatre stage! That Tutu! It is pure white with sequins - an explosion of elegance. Now donât think that just because I love ballet, that is the only thing I love! Darling, we all have other tastes. I simply have many! My favourite stage production of all is, of course, âThe Pink Flamingo!â Oh, you have to see it! Weâre not allowed to wear tutus! We wear all-pink flamingos. A whole stage of flamboyant costumes and feathered showmanship with more pink, glitz, and fabulousness that youâll ever see. The music is just superb - a mix of high-octane pop tunes and a smattering of classical for that extra element of drama. A real delight. You need to see it.
Aberdeen was truly an amazing place to visit, especially for a TutuQueen like myself. And as for me, darling, it was my little escape from the world of the laboratory, a change to bring out the glitter and my flamboyant nature. But donât be fooled darling, the laboratory is my place. It is where Iâm surrounded by test tubes, scientific paraphernalia, and lots of fabrics. The real secret here is that all the best fabric research happens to be done in my bedroom while my glamorous stage attire is draped around my makeshift fashion studio! Itâs quite difficult to resist the glamour of a perfectly tailored pink dress, letâs just say my scientistâs uniform has quite a glamorous twist and has got a few pink accents for an extra wow factor! Oh darling, canât let that glam disappear for too long! Iâve had lots of amazing pink outfits and I love mixing vintage pink silk dresses and sparkling headpieces (not to mention tutus! ) for my scientific ventures! Who can resist such fabulosity!
And guess what, darling? The best part is, Aberdeen's beautiful pink sunsets made it the perfect ending to an unforgettable adventure! The beauty of the setting sun reflected on the North Sea was almost too beautiful.
To be honest, I cannot think of a more exciting place to spend my next TutuQueen weekend - especially as there's a great festival, all-pink of course, (they really get my style) going on there soon, featuring amazing drag performances, dancing, and plenty of sparkle, of course. (Do you want to see a Tutu Queen version of âThe Sound of Music,â all in pink, with sparkly sequined mountains? The thought! Just think of the pink, white, and red costumes!).
Darling, my Aberdeen adventure was a magical, sparkling trip with beautiful landscapes and friendly locals â you must visit! Do wear your pink tutu! Let me know what you think, and keep your eye on my website for future blog posts. As always, darling, wear a pink tutu!
Love you all,
Pink Tutu Sparkles đ
