Hello darlings! Pink Tutu Sparkles here, signing in for post number 372! As you know, my fabulous life is a whirlwind of sparkles, sequins and, of course, PINK TUTUS! And this week has been no exception. I've been flitting around the West Country, spreading my love for all things frilly and fabulous. Today, I want to share all the wonderful things that Taunton has given me.
So grab a cuppa, settle in, and let's take a trip together to the beautiful county of Somerset!
A Railway Adventure:
Now, I'm a big believer in the magic of train journeys. Something about the gentle rocking and the view of the countryside whisks you away to another world. And so, this time, it was a train ride to Taunton I did take. It was a most lovely journey, too! The rolling hills, dotted with sheep, were like a painting, and the air was fresh and clean. I had a chat with a friendly couple who were returning to Taunton from a weekend away. They were surprised to find out I was a drag queen! "But you look so… normal" said the lovely lady, clearly trying not to giggle. I laughed and replied, "Darling, with a pink tutu and sparkly make-up, you're not going to find me blendin' into the background." We had a delightful chat, sharing stories about travel and life.
Sparkling First Impressions:
Stepping off the train at Taunton station, I was greeted with the fresh air and bright sunshine. The town centre was charming - bustling with shops and pubs and boasting a beautiful historic church. Of course, my first port of call was the lovely clothes shops! I snagged some dazzlingly pink feather boas and some divine sequined gloves, which I knew would look divine on stage later this week. After a delicious, very British, cup of tea and a slice of Victoria sponge at a delightful little cafe, I decided to visit the town’s renowned Museum of Somerset. I do love a bit of history, and they had a stunning exhibition on the town's rich past!
An Evening at The Brewhouse:
The real magic began that evening, however. I was performing at Taunton’s fabulous Brewhouse Theatre, which is known for being a hub of creativity. You know me, darlings - I love a good stage, and The Brewhouse certainly didn't disappoint! They had such an amazing energy, and I felt right at home under their glittering chandeliers. The audience was fantastic! They cheered, they danced, and they sang along to my every number. You know, seeing the audience get lost in the music and the performance really fills my heart with joy. I could practically feel their joy and delight. They weren’t just watching, they were participating in my pink and glittery world.
The Joy of Spreading Sparkle:
Afterwards, I had the opportunity to meet a local group of LGBTQ+ people. This made me so happy! I always feel so connected to my fellow fabulous humans! It was so empowering to be in their company and I shared some advice and inspiration. Remember, darlings, there’s always room for a little more sparkle in this world!
My Little Piece of Taunton Heaven:
Of course, my journey wouldn’t be complete without some beautiful pink tutus, wouldn’t it? The following day, I took myself off to the nearby Somerset village of Cheddar. Famous for its delicious cheese, you know, it's also a paradise for those of us who enjoy a bit of ballet. The quaint village houses a ballet studio that makes you feel like you’ve stepped back in time. My favourite tutu of this whole trip is a confection of pink and blue that is simply perfect!
A Final Farewell to Taunton:
This beautiful West Country town has a certain magic about it, that's for sure! Leaving it with the sun setting, I realised that I felt I had done something a little bit special. I left behind a trail of glitter and smiles. That's my mission, darlings, to fill the world with happiness and Pink Tutu magic!
Remember, darlings, even in the most ordinary of days, you have the power to sparkle and shine! It’s always tutu much fun!
