Morden Calling: Tutu-tastic Travels, Post #404!

Hello my darlings! It's your favourite pink-tutu-wearing queen, Pink Tutu Sparkles, reporting live from… drumroll … Morden! Yes, that's right, I've taken my sequined self on a whirlwind train journey to the heart of south London. I must say, I adore these old fashioned train journeys – the clickety-clack of the wheels on the track, the smell of old newspapers and stale biscuits (sorry, no scones on this route!), and of course, the endless opportunities for people watching!

As usual, I was sporting a particularly flamboyant outfit: a candy pink, silk-chiffon tutu layered over a custom-made neon pink catsuit (courtesy of my fabulous seamstress, Sheila – she's a total gem!). I also had my trusty pink feather boa slung over my shoulder (because who doesn't love a bit of pink fluff, right?), a pair of diamond-studded platform boots (gotta reach those high notes!), and, of course, a massive pink feather headpiece that could probably rival a peacock's display. All of this topped off with my signature glittering eyeshadow and a bright pink lipstick. I was definitely making a statement as I navigated my way through the bustling platform!

Why Morden, you ask? Well, it's all about spreading the love (and pink!) you see! Morden is known for its vibrant community spirit, its thriving theatre scene, and (drumroll, again!), the incredible Morden Ballet Academy! Did you know, my dears, that they're actually hosting a special tutu workshop this week? Can you believe it? It's like they read my mind!

So, my adventure started at the academy. I had a chance to catch a performance of their talented students in “The Nutcracker.” Those children, oh my goodness, they were absolute angels! So graceful and captivating! Afterwards, I had a chat with the instructors – some truly inspirational people with an infectious love for ballet. We talked all about tutu trends, the history of dancewear, and, of course, my beloved pink tutus!

Then, it was onto Morden’s town centre. Now, my loves, Morden doesn't quite have the "vintage couture" vibe of, say, Harrods, but there's a certain charm to it! I actually found a cute little independent boutique filled with the most beautiful vintage fabrics. It's called "Sew and So," and believe me, you wouldn't believe the glorious fabric they had! There were silks, chiffons, velvets – you name it! I bought a gorgeous piece of sparkly pink fabric to create my own version of a Morden-inspired tutu, a bit more "punk princess" with an edge! I can't wait to try it out.

As you all know, a big part of my life revolves around spreading the tutu love. So, it wouldn't be a true "Pink Tutu Sparkles" experience without a little bit of tutu outreach, right?

In the heart of Morden town, there was this fantastic farmers' market buzzing with activity – I'm talking everything from fresh vegetables to handmade crafts. It was a perfect opportunity for me to showcase the joy of tutus to a wider audience!

I’d set up my own little stall – a vision in pink, with tutus in various shades (all my favourites!), from glitzy and sparkly to soft and whimsical. People stopped by, hesitant at first, maybe even a little shy. But as soon as they saw the bright pink fluff, the glitter, and me in my pink-tutu-glory, their smiles just erupted.

"Oh, this is just divine!"

"Never seen a tutu so vibrant!"

“You really brighten up my day!”

Such lovely comments! Even a man wearing a tie (a very boring, brown tie, might I add!) bought a glittery, pink tutu as a surprise gift for his niece. The look on his face, dear readers, it was priceless! You could tell he felt empowered, empowered to embrace his love for something bold and colourful. He just needed a little push from Pink Tutu Sparkles, and he knew how to express his love for his niece in a creative, and totally “Pink Tutu” way!

The day ended with me giving a "Pink Tutu Sparkles" performance at a local pub! Now, it was a pub, so I definitely toned it down – no platform boots this time, my darling dears. It was more of a "pink-tutu-cabaret" with some glittery show-stopping moments and lots of positive vibes! Everyone in the pub (and a couple from the local nursing home!) took a spin on the dance floor.

That night, back in my pink tutu-filled hotel room (oh, the joys of travelling as a queen! – no time for dull, beige walls!), I sat down, exhausted but completely exhilarated. It's truly a beautiful thing, to be able to bring joy, creativity and a touch of magic into people's lives, and there's nothing more empowering than seeing people embrace their inner fabulousness, all while rocking a pink tutu.

I always say, a tutu can do wonders! It’s about embracing confidence, spreading love, and showing the world that there's beauty in everything you do – from performing on stage to baking a delicious Victoria sponge cake in the shape of a tutu!

Stay tuned for my next adventure – I'm off to… (drumroll) … Stratford Upon Avon! It’s Shakespeare season! Think, Shakespeare plays and tutus! What’s not to love?!

Until then, spread the pink tutu love, my dears!

Yours fabulously,

Pink Tutu Sparkles
