Bishops Stortford: Where the Sparkles Really Take Flight!
Hello my darlings! 💋 It’s Pink Tutu Sparkles, your resident tutu queen, bringing you post number 696 from the glorious town of Bishops Stortford! It's simply sparkling today, both in the weather and the atmosphere of this enchanting town. Now, I'm not normally a fan of getting chilly, but today, it feels oh-so-right for my dazzling ensemble, which features, you guessed it – a pink tutu! 🎀 This one, a soft, cloud-like tulle, is just perfect for twirling amongst the cobbled streets and historical charm of Bishops Stortford.
I journeyed here on the most divine train, surrounded by people with their noses buried in newspapers and magazines, whilst I simply stared out the window at the rolling green countryside and dreamt up my latest drag extravaganza. There's something magical about train travel, wouldn't you agree? It lets your mind wander and get truly creative, which, let’s be honest, is where all the good ideas happen, isn't it?
And now, onto my main mission here – the most fantastic theatre performance at the iconic Bishops Stortford Theatre! My friend, darling Lily Lilac, an equally enchanting drag artist, had been telling me about it for weeks, and trust me, my lovelies, she’s not one to exaggerate! This particular show was about a mischievous sprite, the kind who steals your socks at night, and it was so incredibly creative, full of dazzling costumes and a delightful story – and did I mention the dance routines? Simply glorious! Lily was absolutely right - the whole thing was spectacular! I even got to have a little spin on the stage at the end with Lily and a troupe of the most beautiful dancers – they wore the most delightful tutus in the prettiest shades of lilac! 😍
Now, a little something about my travels to Bishops Stortford – how do I fund my dazzlingly colourful trips around the country? Well, it’s a combination of sheer brilliance and performing at any and every event I can get my sparkly stilettos into! From charity fetes and bustling market places to glamorous soirées and exciting cabaret clubs – I love spreading my love of pink tutus wherever I go! Remember, my darlings, life’s a stage and everyone is welcome to shine in a beautiful pink tutu! 💖
Now, as you all know, my real name is Alex and my day job is a little more, well, down-to-earth. I spend my time in a laboratory, not testing makeup products for new glitter shades, sadly! Nope, my expertise lies in testing fabric – what it’s made of, its durability, its elasticity...and while I may not be designing my own outfits, you’d be surprised at how much science goes into crafting the perfect tutu! Every twirl, every fold, every pleat is scientifically perfect, all thanks to the tireless efforts of little ol’ me! 😂
Speaking of which, remember how I told you about how I got so obsessed with pink tutus? It all started while I was studying for my science degree at university. I’d joined the university ballet club and decided to give charity a hand by wearing a tutu at their annual fundraiser! Little did I know, my life was about to change! ✨
My first time stepping out in a pink tutu – remember, it's my absolute favourite colour! - was, to be frank, a major eye opener! I’d always loved ballet, but to feel that incredible, swirling tulle surrounding me, the sense of freedom it brought, was truly life-altering! I simply couldn’t get enough! My obsession started slowly, with a few ballet classes, and it’s just gone full-throttle since! Now, I perform all across the UK, sharing my love of the tutu and, in a nutshell, encouraging the world to embrace the magic of pink! 💕

Now, darlings, I must dash. There’s a fabulous dinner I’m going to at the quaint “Little Tea Rooms”, a place famous for its homemade cupcakes! I can’t wait to enjoy a delicate cupcake with a delightful latte, followed by a spot of ballet barre with my good friend and fabulous dancer, Rosebud. (She has a blog, too, you know! Find her at www.dance-ballet.com – she's a true talent!) I promise to report all the details later in another sparkly blog post! 💋
Till next time,
Pink Tutu Sparkles, your local tutu queen! 💖
