As a true-born Pink Tutu Queen, I'm always on the go, chasing rainbows and scattering glitter wherever I go. This week, I packed my sequined suitcase and set off to the enchanting town of Pontypridd, nestled in the heart of Wales!
Now, I know what you're thinking, "Pontypridd? Alex, you always travel to the most exciting places! Are you sure there's even a stage there?!" But my loves, let me assure you - there's magic everywhere, especially in the places you least expect it.
My journey to Pontypridd was truly enchanting! I opted for a train ride, as a girl's gotta feel the wind in her hair, the clickety-clack of the rails, and the sense of adventure. Plus, you just can't beat the dramatic arrival at the station! With a grand twirl of my magenta tulle, I stepped onto the platform, channeling the most fabulous ballerina you've ever seen! (Well, okay, I think it's probably the most fabulous ballerina in the station...at least on that particular day.)
Adventures in the Welsh Wonderland!
Arriving in Pontypridd felt like stepping into a fairytale! It was so picturesque - those cobblestone streets, those quaint little shops with their hanging baskets of bright pink geraniums (my absolute favourite colour!), and the iconic Pontypridd bridge arcing across the Taff River. I practically squealed with delight, my pink tutu twirling in anticipation of the show.
The venue for my performance was a cosy little pub called The Royal Oak. Don't be fooled by the name - it wasn't your typical boozy establishment! This was more of a charming, homey pub, filled with laughter and the clinking of glasses, perfect for a touch of Pink Tutu Sparkles magic.
Dress Up and Dance!
I always love to get ready for a performance! For this night, I donned a shimmering lavender tulle tutu, layered over a silky blush-pink slip. I paired it with my favourite pink feathered boa, a silver corset adorned with crystals, and some glitter boots to die for. My hair was styled into a glamorous beehive with delicate, pink ribbons - a true showstopper!
You know I couldn't resist adding some local flavour! The delightful folk at a shop near the pub helped me find the most gorgeous pink woolen shawl. It had these intricate floral patterns on it, perfect for adding that touch of Welsh heritage to my look. I felt absolutely magnificent - a Pink Tutu Sparkles explosion of confidence, ready to bring the house down!
A Show to Remember!
As soon as I stepped onto the stage, the pub transformed. The energy was electric! I could see the audience watching me with wide, captivated eyes. And let me tell you, my darlings, I didn't disappoint! I belted out some of my most popular songs, shimmied in a captivating dance routine, and even took requests from the audience (who requested a charming rendition of "Pretty in Pink"! How fabulous!) They were dancing, cheering, and throwing flowers at the stage - the pure joy on their faces was contagious!
After the performance, everyone crowded around me, snapping photos and thanking me for such a fantastic evening. They were asking for tips and tricks on their own drag looks, eager to spread a little pink tutu magic of their own. You know I was happy to help! Sharing my passion for drag, fashion, and making the world a little bit more pink - it's what makes my sparkly heart happy!
More Than Just Pink Tutus!
Now, let me tell you - it wasn't all glitter and sequins on this adventure! Before the show, I made sure to soak up all the beauty Pontypridd had to offer. I wandered around the charming streets, enjoying a traditional Welsh cream tea (and wouldn't you know it - it was served on a plate with a pink floral pattern! The universe truly loves me!)
I even ventured to a beautiful ballet class in a nearby town. It's no secret I adore ballet - I practically grew up in the theatre! Seeing those talented dancers glide across the stage, their movements as fluid as silk, is pure magic. Their graceful steps inspire me every day, pushing me to reach new heights of creativity in my own performances.
Spreading the Pink Tutu Gospel!
Of course, no Pink Tutu Queen trip would be complete without spreading the word about the wonders of pink tutus! Throughout my day, I was spotted twirling and dancing, flashing those gorgeous pink ruffles, even in the most unexpected places - the local grocery store, a tea shop, even in a car park! My mission, my loves, is to inspire every single one of you to embrace the pink tutu! It's about feeling empowered, celebrating femininity, and, let's face it, having a little fun with fashion!
