The Journey: 🚂
After packing my overflowing suitcase (it’s a drag queen thing, darlings!), I hopped on the train. Nothing beats the window seat for people-watching. I swear, sometimes the most fabulous outfits aren't on a stage, they're on the train! Today, I spotted a chap sporting a vintage suit with a truly sensational moustache. Truly a fashion inspiration!
Arriving in Bootle:
I was met by the most delightful, sun-drenched streets and a breeze whispering promises of excitement. My inner child immediately whipped out her camera (and my phone too!), ready to capture all the Bootle beauty. This town has a real "we do things our way" vibe, and honestly, that’s something I absolutely adore.
Shopping in Style: 🛍️
It wouldn't be a Pink Tutu Sparkles adventure without some shopping! I found this incredible vintage boutique hidden away in a back street, crammed with treasures begging to be worn. Think feathers, glitter, sequins - and the most fantastic vintage tutus you’ve ever seen! I snagged a pair of feather earrings the colour of a summer sunset – perfect for tonight’s show.
The Heart of Bootle:
The locals are as warm as a freshly baked scone, with smiles as big as the Mersey River. There's something heartwarming about the community here. Everyone seems to know each other. I caught a glimpse of a lovely little cafe called "The Teacup" that's buzzing with life. You know what? It gave me a wonderful idea... Maybe a Pink Tutu tea party for all the fabulous Bootle ladies! Just thinking out loud! 😉
Preparing for the Performance:
Every performance requires some "Pink Tutu prep", my dears. This includes, but is not limited to:
- Makeup magic: Creating that sparkling illusion with the help of the best products this side of the Mersey (and trust me, Bootle has a few gems tucked away!).
- Wardrobe wonder: Tonight’s performance called for a dramatic, pink, and somewhat scandalous (a little shimmer never hurt anyone!) feather boa number, so that meant a quick outfit change and a touch of glitter, darling!
A Bootle Ballet Adventure: 🩰
I managed to squeeze in a ballet class while I was in town. Now, you might think this is an unusual choice for a drag queen, but hear me out, my dears! Ballet and drag? They’re more connected than you might think! Both require precision, strength, grace... and a little touch of theatricality! Honestly, there's something freeing about twirling and leaping with the rest of the class, allowing myself to be carried away by the music. Plus, the dancers were simply sensational!
*Showtime!: *
I love doing pop-up performances, and tonight was no different! My show at "The Golden Galleon," this tiny little pub that looks like a hidden treasure chest, was filled with cheering, laughing faces. The air thrummed with music, light, and joyous energy. The entire venue transformed into a whirlwind of feathers, sequins, and laughter, leaving everyone with a sparkle in their eye. You know the saying, "There's magic in every town," right? Bootle, you truly are magical. ✨
To Tutu, My Dearest Bootle: 💖
Thank you for showing me your sparkling heart, Bootle! I’ve been to some fabulous places, but you truly hold a special place in my heart.
