Longton: Tutu Travels, Post 1011

Oh darling, how does a Pink Tutu Sparkles even BEGIN to explain how magical Longton was?! Honestly, it was like stepping into a vintage fairytale. But before I get swept away in a sea of sparkly sequins, let's rewind to how I got here in the first place...

This is my one-hundred-and-eleventh blog post for you lovelies. My life is one big glittery adventure, packed full of pink and positivity, all revolving around one thing – tutus! Yep, my world revolves around those tulle wonders. As for my actual world? I’m a proper Derbyshire girl, living out my wildest dreams – science by day and fabulous pink-tutu-clad drag by night! And darling, it’s a life I wouldn't trade for all the glittered teacups in the world!

Trains & Twirls: A Journey to the Heart of Longton

For this trip, I decided on a journey by train. Honestly, it's such a wonderfully relaxing way to travel, a chance to let your mind wander and get those creative juices flowing. Especially when you can pop on a fab pair of tights and some killer boots to match my travel tutu. (You know I had to wear a tutu. It's my signature! I mean, what’s a queen to do on a train without at least a dash of tulle?). And you know me, I'm all about that fab pink — pink nails, pink tights, pink sparkly headband.

Speaking of tutus, a quick little tale about my tutus (as if it needs telling, right?).. It was my first year of university, back in those long-gone days of exams, experiments and that weird, slightly terrifying, yet oddly addictive urge to see just how much caffeine my brain could handle! My uni had a fab ballet club, which is how I met my fellow dancers. We decided to put on a show for charity and, being the generous soul I am, I volunteered to wear a tutu! I mean, a tutu is practically the ultimate in generosity! It shares the spotlight with your own body, showing off every inch of your lovely self in a delightful symphony of fabric! From the first swish, it was like a lightbulb going off. All I wanted to do was wear a tutu in every colour and be my flamboyant, fabulous self!

The Sparkling Lights of Longton

Once I’d stepped off the train and breathed in the salty air (don’t ask, there’s a story to be told!), it was time for my mission in Longton. I’d heard of the most amazing vintage shop - literally a palace of tulle and feathers. This was my calling, darling, like a feather boas saying "pick me up and use me". This vintage haven had to have the perfect piece of vintage glamour for my next stage performance – and you know it did! The perfect scarlet sequined, slightly-worn and altogether stunning dress.

The night arrived, and darling, Longton came alive with the shimmer of fairy lights. They strung them everywhere - on rooftops, down alleyways, along the little cobblestone paths…it was a magical sight! My drag name is Pink Tutu Sparkles, remember? So when a fabulous, full-blown fairytale is right there waiting for you – you grab your sparkly wand, grab the pinkest tulle you can find, and you just get to sparkling. And you can bet your bottom dollar, the Pink Tutu Queen was all set to go!

Longton Loves a Tutu

For this night's show, I put on my latest addition - a classic fluffy pink tutu (pink’s the new black!), added the red sequins (a statement, darling!), and my signature glittery platform heels, ready to dazzle everyone with a dance performance! Longton is known for being warm, welcoming, and most importantly - supportive! When you put on a show in Longton, you really do feel the energy from the crowd - it's pure magic.

And this show, it just felt right. From the moment I stepped on the stage, everyone’s smiles told me I was doing something right, doing something fun. Longton knew how to party - with dancing, laughing, and just pure joy. It was all about coming together as a community and embracing the magic of being human and celebrating individuality!

This whole adventure was a real pink tutu-topia. From the journey on the train to the vibrant streets and the wonderful people, Longton embraced the Pink Tutu Sparkles spirit with open arms - that’s what makes this place so incredibly special. Every one of you should go there - find the vintage treasures, be mesmerised by the magic, and bring out your inner sparkly selves, because this place is bursting with joy. I’ll certainly be back in Longton for more tutu magic, so until then, darling… you know what to do: wear your sparkly smiles, embrace the sunshine, and always choose a little bit of pink, every day!

Remember - life is all about sequins, sparkles, and a touch of magic – even if that touch is a dash of pink tulle. And as always… stay pink, darlings!
