Well hello darlings! It's your girl, Pink Tutu Sparkles, and guess what? I'm in Wellington, New Zealand! You're probably thinking "Wellington? That's not exactly Paris or New York." But oh darling, I'm here to tell you, this place is positively fabulous. And it's got my name written all over it. 💖
You know, sometimes it feels like life is all about finding the unexpected little gems, the places that take you by surprise. Now, before I left, I must admit, I hadn't even heard of Wellington. But after a long train journey – a gloriously scenic ride with the countryside flashing by in a kaleidoscope of colours, by the way! – I realised this place was made for a Tutu Queen!
The energy here is just vibrant and exhilarating, and darling, I don't think they have a clue how lucky they are. The people are incredibly friendly, the scenery is gorgeous (all green hills and sparkling water), and the nightlife is… well, you can probably imagine. 😉
From Tutus to Theatre! ✨
You know how I love to flit between different performance worlds, right? Well, Wellington has given me a whole new playground to explore! Yesterday, I took a trip to the Wellington Opera House. Not just for the beautiful building, of course, although darling, I could have spent a day just gawking at its incredible architecture. No, the real reason was to see the ballet. And darling, I'm telling you, they're some of the most talented dancers I've ever seen. The movements were just so elegant, graceful, and powerful! The costumes were just stunning – some lovely classic tutus, but some really innovative designs too, very avant garde. You know I love a good modern spin! 😉 I practically danced my way out of that theater, my pink tutu swaying in time to the music.
Afterwards, I couldn't resist popping into the local ballet shop. They had so many gorgeous tutus! And they even had a rack of pink ones! My heart practically skipped a beat, and let me tell you, I couldn't leave without adding a new addition to my collection. It's the most delicate pale pink tulle, with a swirl of iridescent sequins. I have a feeling I'm going to be doing a lot of twirling in that one!
Pink and Fabulous – The Wellington Style 💅💖
Let me tell you, Wellington is seriously a pink paradise! The cafes, the shops, the buildings, the little markets. Everywhere I go, I'm surrounded by shades of pink. It's positively fabulous! It reminds me a lot of my hometown in Derbyshire, except on a grander scale. Even the traffic lights here have a hint of pink. You know, the pink ones that glow a bit brighter?
And the people! The people here are so incredibly accepting and open. Maybe it’s the fresh air from the Pacific Ocean, but they’ve got this incredible, relaxed vibe, so there’s none of the “judgment” you sometimes get in other places, It makes it a really great place to embrace your inner queen and wear whatever fabulous outfit takes your fancy. I saw one guy walking down the street in a sequined hot pink suit and platform heels, and honestly, the other people around him were just like “oh yeah, it’s Wellington. Whatever floats your boat, buddy!
Adventures in Tutu – Where Do We Go Next? 🗺️
Now, I know you all love to know where I'm heading next. So I'm happy to spill the beans – this weekend, I’m off on another exciting adventure! I'm heading to a medieval fair. They're holding it in a lovely town called Feilding, just outside of Wellington, which is supposed to be amazing. Apparently, they have all kinds of fabulous things there, from knights and princesses to jesters and dancers. You know how much I love a good bit of theatricality. I even heard they have a competition to see who can spin the best wool – what an incredible spectacle. And naturally, I’ve got a fabulous new pink-tutu look planned that I can't wait to unveil. 😉
The great thing is I'm going to get there on horseback! Imagine a pink tutu flying in the wind while I’m cantering across the fields! Now that’s a real Tutu Queen moment if I ever saw one. I might need a few lessons first, to avoid falling off and ending up in the mud! Or maybe I’ll look a bit like a glamorous clown, which I’m not sure anyone wants to see. Maybe it’ll be worth filming just for the giggles! 😉
But first, a day in the lab! You wouldn't believe the adventures that my day job throws my way. Right now I’m testing fabrics that change colour depending on the temperature. You see, my life really does go from drag shows to testing laboratory fabric! I like to think my artistic life complements my scientific side. After all, that's how you get sparkly lab coats and sequin-adorned test tubes! The key is never to compromise, right?

Listen, darling. Every single one of us has a bit of pink tutu spark within. That bit that tells you to go out there, express yourself, and let your true self shine! No matter where you come from or who you are. Now I might be a flamboyant drag queen from Derbyshire, but my hope is to encourage each of you to find your inner Pink Tutu Sparkles and spread some joy. Because that's what this life is all about, making each day as vibrant, colourful, and sparkly as possible! You know where I am. Let’s make a life we love and that inspires others.
