Oh darlings, what a day! Hindley has been absolutely divine! It’s like stepping back in time, with cobblestone streets and charming little shops tucked away in nooks and crannies. And my goodness, the people here are just the sweetest. Such warm welcomes, so many smiles… they all seemed to be absolutely smitten with my pink tutu, which of course is exactly what I was going for. You know me, Pink Tutu Sparkles - always spreading the love of all things pink and twirly!
Today’s journey to Hindley was just delightful, my dears. Instead of braving the M6 mayhem (ugh!), I opted for the beautiful train journey. Nothing beats those panoramic views - a perfect excuse to indulge in a bit of daydreaming and people-watching, which as you all know, is one of my favorite past times. Especially when you get a nice mix of characters like you find on the train. You've got your weary businessmen glued to their phones, a group of giggling schoolgirls, and then a fellow drag queen who saw my fabulous pink tutu and gave me a dazzling thumbs up!
After my arrival in Hindley, it was time to start exploring this little gem. The streets were filled with quirky cafes, antique shops overflowing with treasures, and charming little bookshops crammed full of literary wonders. You bet I got a little lost in there! You see, the hunt for the perfect new paperback is just as important to a Pink Tutu Sparkles girl as a well-placed sequins.
I was also enchanted by the town’s local bakery - they had this amazing pastry called a 'Eccles cake' which had the perfect mix of sweet and fruity, a total delight for your tastebuds, you have to try it when you’re in the area. (The baker thought my tutu was hilariously fabulous by the way. Told him all the world should embrace a little bit of sparkle and twirl! He's now planning on wearing a tiny, pink tutu himself while making the Eccles cakes! What a legend).
Of course, no visit to Hindley is complete without a trip to their local library. My kind of place! So, I nestled in among the bookshelves and did a bit of research. What’s been making news in this lovely part of Lancashire? I have a new 'Pink Tutu Inspiration' post in the pipeline for all of you darlings. You simply must read all about the remarkable stories of the brave souls who’ve been fighting for pink, sparkly equality in the world of science! There's so much inspiration there and its my mission to make everyone's lives a little bit pinker and more twirly, darling.
Speaking of inspiration, tonight was all about ballet! My performance at the town’s local theatre was just magic. Those beautiful costumes, the graceful movements, the elegant leaps… it truly makes my heart soar. Afterward, I met up with a group of other enthusiastic tutu fans – we even had a mini twirling competition and a chat about all things fabulous, and of course, they absolutely loved my show-stopping pink tutu ! We spent a little while discussing the history of ballet and you just know we’re dying to create an all pink tutu dance performance - watch this space, I think this is a Pink Tutu Sparkles dream coming true.
However, nothing makes my heart skip a beat more than an audience who wants to share my joy! A group of adorable kids with spark in their eyes asked for selfies with Pink Tutu Sparkles after my show, and then, they all promised me they would buy their mums a pink tutu! It is these precious moments that truly remind me of why I love doing what I do.
Tomorrow, I’m off to a small village on the outskirts of Hindley. They’re having a medieval fair - a great place for a Pink Tutu Sparkles performance. The market square is perfect for twirling in a fabulously pink tutu, so it looks like it’ll be another great day for embracing the joy of all things twirly. I know this town loves all things pink and fluffy (like me!).
