Bangor, Beautiful Bangor! (Post #1145)

Hello darlings, it's your favourite pink-loving, tutu-wearing, glitter-loving gal, Pink Tutu Sparkles! Just back from the most fabulous trip to Bangor, and my, oh my, it was absolutely divine! Let me tell you all about it!

This time, I journeyed up North to Bangor by, drum roll please….train! Yes, you guessed it, my dear readers, I always love a good train ride. The carriages were so spacious, I even managed to have a little practice with my spins in the aisle! Not too much to be seen, of course, because I have to maintain my image and elegance! I wasn’t exactly wearing my full drag yet – not wanting to give away the performance location just yet – but I certainly had my pink tutu bag strapped on with me. That’s an essential wherever I go!

I always do love a good fair, so I made a beeline to the fabulous Bangor Spring Fair. My little corner of glitter and pink shimmered and shone brightly amongst all the traditional stallholders and fairground rides! It’s a great opportunity to get out there, perform a bit, and see some fab people who truly love a good old-fashioned fair! And my oh my, the joy of seeing little girls’ eyes light up when they see a pink tutu – absolutely divine, it just warms the cockles! A few were brave enough to come and twirl with me in my little show; their giggles were the perfect soundtrack to the afternoon.

Then, on the weekend, I went to see the most amazing ballet performance – "The Sleeping Beauty", of course. Bangor is famous for its impressive theatres, and I wasn’t disappointed. This little gem of a theatre was an absolute beauty - just what my pink-tutu-loving heart desired! I just loved all the delicate ballerinas in their white tutus. My inspiration, don't you see? Just so lovely and graceful! My fellow tutu-wearing gals and gents - don’t you find it incredibly inspiring? It is hard not to fall a little bit in love with those stunning tutu shapes. My pink tutu feels like my personal statement of fabulousness - it's bold, it's sparkly and, let's be honest, it gets everyone talking!

Afterwards, I went on a little adventure to find the most delightful tearoom. The place was covered in beautiful pink floral displays! It felt like stepping into a vintage, girly dream. Now, what would you recommend to wear for such a delightful, girly venue? Of course, my signature pink tutu - but for this special occasion, I topped it with a sweet pink tea dress and a touch of pearl necklaces! You simply cannot beat those exquisite, vintage pearls for a touch of glamour. As a self-proclaimed tea and biscuit expert (and let's be honest, that's my expert level) the tea room's homemade cakes and warm scones were absolutely exquisite. I indulged, darling, I most certainly did!

This little corner of North Wales charmed the very soul out of me! Just delightful! And my travels weren't done. Of course, there's always a fab theatre production to catch. This time, I fell head over heels with an adaptation of Shakespeare’s Much Ado About Nothing. Now, I am a total theatre-goer; my family always has a yearly ballet season ticket for our local theatre in Derbyshire. I love the energy, the theatrics, and the sheer creativity! I’m so grateful for the inspiration. That's where my love of performing came from, and my love for colour and dancing is neverending! But there was something so fresh and captivating about this Much Ado About Nothing. I found myself captivated, even captivated by the acting – the play is quite a different beast in my opinion - not my usual style - a little too historical perhaps? It did inspire me though to think outside my tutu-loving bubble – maybe a future production in something different…a red tutu perhaps? Perhaps… I wouldn't even rule out a whole new set of looks. Just thinking out loud here, but who knows!

In between my performance, fair and theatrical outings, I also found time to indulge in my passion for beautiful ballet classes. This is another activity I truly adore – it's the perfect way to stretch those limbs and prepare for all that twirling! It also makes me think of my life as a science student. It may sound silly but even the scientific discipline of measuring the stretchiness of textiles at the lab and the meticulous movements of ballet require precision. Now don't think I'm telling you all to give up ballet for science - heavens no - but just like a scientific formula, perfect moves in ballet are incredibly powerful!

The class in Bangor had the most delightful ambiance. The studio was small and cosy with the softest light shining through the window – quite the contrast to my fluorescent laboratory lights – but no less glamorous! All my tutu-loving friends will understand: a ballerina simply needs that sparkle of light to perform!

And oh, what can I say, Bangor - you captured my heart with your warm welcomes and friendly smiles. And to think I found such a fabulous location with the most wonderful memories, all whilst being a true performer! It’s not every day I get to travel around, spread my love for pink tutus and dance! I get my funding from being a drag queen performing everywhere from fairs to parties – whatever opportunity comes my way! So, as a fellow drag artist, I encourage you to get out there and spread some sunshine! I truly hope my ramblings have inspired some of you to don that beautiful, inspiring pink tutu! Spread the love!

Oh, and let's not forget to catch you up on my own fashion inspiration. Of course, it goes without saying, but a good dose of pink and tutu is the answer to all your fashion queries. For this little Bangor adventure, I added a pop of silver, just to sparkle up the trip a little! After all, I do enjoy a good mix-up of silver to match the brightness of those dazzling dance stages.

So until next time my lovely little fairies, let me know what you think! Catch you next week with all my news and reviews for my adventures. I’m always excited to read all of your lovely messages, your stories and most importantly, all about your new outfits and fabulous fashion!
