Taunton Calling: Tutu Adventures in a Somerset Wonderland! 🩰✨💖

Blog Post Number: 1146

Hello darlings! It’s your girl, Pink Tutu Sparkles, coming to you live from Taunton, Somerset! You might think “Pink Tutu, why Taunton? It's a bit…beige”, and you know what? You’re probably right! BUT! You also know your Queen LOVES a good adventure and, let's face it, the only way to make a town a bit "beige" is to introduce a splash of Pink Tutu Sparkles!

This time around, I decided to make my grand entrance via a magical journey by… wait for it… drumroll …horse! It wasn’t quite the majestic, glistening black steed I dreamed of, more a fluffy Shetland with a mischievous glint in its eye and a tendency to nibble my pink boa!

The train ride down to Somerset, though, was an absolute DREAM. I was sitting in first-class, you see, wearing my fabulous, sequined pink gown that just so happens to look remarkably like a tutu. And let me tell you, darling, when you're surrounded by businessman with their briefcases and tired commuters, looking fabulous is a real weapon! They just…stare. With awe. Sometimes with a hint of envy. They just don't understand, do they? Life is a performance!

But back to Taunton! The main reason I landed in this charming town was to see the Taunton Ballet Theatre performing a breathtaking rendition of “The Sleeping Beauty”. The costumes, darling, were TO DIE FOR! My fellow tutu enthusiasts would have fainted dead away! So many fabulous tutus, I could hardly contain my excitement. It's no wonder my beloved tutu-loving soul was captivated by ballet! The dance moves, the elegance, the dramatic pauses - just chef’s kiss.

Speaking of elegance, you won’t believe the divine afternoon tea I had afterwards. It was served on a delicate floral china, the tea was infused with something wonderful and there were cakes, darling, so many cakes! They weren’t the usual cream-filled horrors, either. No, no. They were tiny, beautiful and delicate, perfect to indulge in while talking to a sweet old lady named Agatha, who I discovered is actually a retired prima ballerina! Isn’t that utterly fantastic? She even reminisced about her time dancing on the London stage with a wink and a sparkle in her eyes that put the youngest ballerina to shame! Agatha and I bonded over the thrill of wearing tutus, sharing stories about the magical feeling of gliding across the stage, and feeling a rush of joy as our pink fluff flowed around us like clouds.

Before I head back to Derbyshire, you know your girl Pink Tutu Sparkles simply can’t leave without experiencing a little bit of Taunton's vibrant nightlife! Luckily for me, I stumbled upon a brilliant cabaret night. There I met a lovely young woman named Bethany who absolutely loves dressing up, but in the most unique, non-conformist way. It was SO refreshing to meet someone with such a wild and beautiful imagination when it comes to clothes and fashion. It reminds me of when I was starting out, discovering my own unique sparkle, and it really set me thinking about what inspires our love of fashion, from my pink tutus to Bethany’s dramatic layers.

I spent the night listening to some phenomenal music from a local band, and dancing with my new friend. The people of Taunton were surprisingly enthusiastic for my arrival! A group of teenagers were even singing along to my little performance when I popped on a tune from my "Sparkle Playlist" on my phone. You could say I stole the show, darling, and all with my trusty, pink sequined tutu!

Honestly, I think I might need to move to Taunton! Who knows, maybe I’ll be the one to break that “beige” stigma! With a few pink tutu-wearing residents, there's no telling what magical moments we might spark in this sleepy town!

Speaking of "sparkling", this brings me to my "Sparkly Secret" for today, darling! Did you know, you can make your own tutu? I saw the most delightful online tutorial on creating a DIY tutu masterpiece! You can pick up a plain white one for a song at most local dance shops or online. Now, I wouldn’t suggest plain white, darling, where’s the fun in that? A sprinkle of sparkles and a splash of pink is all you need! With some glitter and glue, you can transform any plain tulle into something absolutely phenomenal! Remember to use fabric glue, it’s less likely to leave you looking like you’ve fallen in a rainbow. 😉

Now, until next time, darling! Stay fabulous! And remember, a sprinkle of pink never hurt anyone!
