Hello my gorgeous glitterati! Pink Tutu Sparkles here, signing in from the breezy, beautiful seaside town of Whitley Bay! Itās been a whirlwind journey getting here, filled with so much fabulousness, Iām practically bursting at the seams (especially since Iām wearing this amazing new hot pink, feather-trimmed tutu ā more on that later!).
This is the first stop on my "Tutus Across the UK" tour! And let me tell you, thereās no better way to get a taste of a new place than on a vintage train. It's like stepping back in time with plush red seats, gleaming chrome, and those delightful little window compartments. You just can't beat it.
But before we get to the excitement of Whitley Bay, Iāve gotta tell you about my outfit. As soon as I heard I was going to the seaside, the perfect vision popped into my head: shimmering seashells, fluffy clouds, andā¦ of courseā¦ a tutu! So, I went shopping (gotta keep those tutu reserves well-stocked) and found the most beautiful creation! Itās a soft baby pink with rows and rows of iridescent pink sequins that shimmer like the ocean in the sun. Oh, and I mustnāt forget the feather boa! Think sea foam, my dears! Just divine.
Now, letās talk Whitley Bay. The moment I stepped out of the train station, I was completely enchanted! This place has such a charming energy, it felt like stepping into a classic seaside postcard! They've got these amazing art deco buildings, stunning beaches with sparkling sands and clear blue water, and oh my goodness, the pier! Itās practically bursting with vibrant colors, delicious smells (Iām telling you, the fresh fish and chips are something else!), and of course, some of the best people-watching in the whole wide world!
A Tutu-filled Ballet Workshop
Whitley Bay is actually renowned for its rich theatrical history, so whatās a tutu-loving queen to do? Why, embrace it! I spent the afternoon with the most adorable bunch of children at the local ballet school! It was amazing! Theyāre all so bright, enthusiastic, and of course, bursting with creativity. My heart almost melted as I watched them pirouette and twirl in their tiny, beautiful tutus. It reminded me so much of when I first fell in love with ballet.
You see, back in my Derbyshire days, when I was still just plain old Alex (a.k.a. the "mad scientist" at a textile lab!), I fell into the world of ballet rather by chance. It started with my university ballet club, and they held this fundraiser event, where we were selling baked goods and little trinkets. And you know what they did to get attention? You guessed it - a drag performance with tutus! (Who could resist such an extravagant offer?) Let's just say, I wore it better than they expected... and then I couldnāt stop! That moment, I felt like a total princess warrior! And I was like, "This is me! This is my sparkle! This is how Iāll express myself!"
Since that day, my love for tutus just blossomed. The sheer femininity, the floaty grace, the twirling magicā¦ itās an emotion I just can't explain! But it feels fabulous and it gives me confidence that helps me sparkle brighter on stage!
So, I did a quick little tutu workshop for the kids, giving them a bit of my Pink Tutu Sparkles magic, sharing some of my secrets to posing like a true queen, and we had a lovely little mini performance to show off their newly-learned moves. The parents were laughing, the kids were beaming, and I felt so fulfilled. Sharing my love of dance and performing is the best feeling in the world!
A Seafront Soiree with a Touch of Pink
In the evening, I transformed my fabulous pink tutu into something a little more edgy, a little more beach-party-ready! With a couple of additions ā a dazzling pair of sequin-encrusted high-heels (letās just say the āsea foamā theme extended to my shoes!), and some dazzling rhinestones ā I was ready to sparkle for a crowd!
Tonight, Iām performing on the pier itself! Thatās right, in front of all those twinkling lights, under the summer sky, I'll be strutting my stuff, singing my heart out, and showing them what a Pink Tutu Sparkles can do!
Iām feeling incredibly excited for this performance! My set is all about the seaside ā think "Under the Sea" meets "Born to be Wild," and trust me, there will be some impressive moves! (My new favorite, by the way, involves a little jump and a dramatic tutu twirl ā I call it "Seagull Spin." Itās sure to be a crowd-pleaser!).
The Importance of a Little Pink Magic
Before I head off to get ready, I wanted to take a moment to tell you all something thatās truly important to me. See, with every single person who puts on a tutu, whether itās a little kid, a granddad, a mother, or even a fluffy dog (donāt ask, itās happened!), the world becomes a more fabulous place. The laughter, the silliness, the confidence ā itās magic, my darlings. Itās a little reminder that life should be fun, bright, and always, always, full of sparkle.
