Denton Dares: Pink Tutu Sparkles Gets Country! (Blog Post #1224)

Darlings! It's your girl, Pink Tutu Sparkles, reporting live from Denton, Texas, and let me tell you, this town has truly given my tutu a whirl! You wouldn't believe the adventures I've had this week, from charming cowboys to twirling beneath the Texan stars! I just couldn't resist posting this extra special blog from this extra special trip!

Before I begin though, let's have a quick catch up with what's been happening with your favourite Pink Tutu queen! The last couple of months have been chaotic, darling, but in the most delightful way possible. I've been shimmying my way across Europe, rocking a couple of fabulous charity events in Vienna, teaching the young ones some moves in the Hague, and doing a bit of tutuing at the Edinburgh Fringe festival (which, as always, was totally fabulous). It’s amazing what you can achieve in a hot pink tutu – trust me!

Right, back to Denton. Now, I know you lovely lot love your train journeys, and mine to Texas was nothing short of epic. Now, a girl could get accustomed to the grand, old trains in Europe, but you can bet your bottom dollar the big rigs (don't ask, love, I have no clue what a big rig is) were definitely an eye opener! I've never seen so many lorries with these massive trucks on the back, towing caravans and stuff. Oh, the wonder!

The journey to Denton was certainly exciting. Let's just say my journey companion and I were given the full "Welcome to Texas" by some very generous local ladies. I don't think they were keen on my outfit... it was a slightly too sparkly hot pink tutu – but that didn't stop me from doing my best Texan two-step (and trust me, it was much less sophisticated than it looked)!

My destination, my darling, was a local fair! A right knees-up for all, full of rides, BBQs, and (of course!) a fabulous stage for this Queen to twirl on! Let me tell you, it was a riot! The Texans just love their music and a good time, and their energy really gave me that extra sparkle! There was even a dance contest (naturally, I won)!

Denton is definitely a place where you just go with the flow. The townsfolk are super friendly and open-minded – exactly my cup of tea. The streets were full of colourful characters, all with their unique personalities and style, and they embraced me, Pink Tutu Sparkles, with open arms. What did they say you ask? Well, it wasn’t always the same, darlings, but it generally fell into a few categories:

  • "Hey! That's one funky outfit!"
  • "Do you need a cowboy hat? That tutu looks a bit exposed!"
  • "Is that thing pink?" (Oh, the indignity! But a girl always takes it on the chin with grace, don't we, love? Besides, everyone needs a reminder of the magic of pink)

Even after the fair, I didn't have time to catch my breath, let alone catch my balance after all that twirling! There was a surprise performance for me in a real-life Texas Saloon. Of course, I wore my pink tutu, and a top hat for good measure, which apparently, I was told is very Texas (My hat definitely needed a sparkle though!)

The crowd were so friendly, and I even learnt a new dance! I taught them some 'British' routines, but you’d be surprised how much these cowboys can boogie, darling.

The main attraction though, was the amazing BBQ, served on actual wooden planks! This really was a culinary journey, and all I could think about was that it just screamed Pink Tutu and my love for Texan vibes.

My heart's a little bit more Texas than Derbyshire right now, love! All that sunshine and excitement has definitely re-sparkled my creativity! And you know, I may not be a full-blown cowgirl just yet (although I’m still debating the pros and cons of a pink tutu and cowboy hat – maybe a 'Pinky the Cowgirl' theme?) I certainly found a newfound appreciation for cowpoke life.

Until next time, darlings! Don’t forget, wear your Pink Tutu with pride and live life to the fullest. And I promise, my next blog post will have a very special surprise - you won’t want to miss it!

Until then, take care, and always sparkle,

Pink Tutu Sparkles
