Nottingham: A Whirlwind of Pink!

Hello darlings! Itā€™s your favourite pink-tutu-clad queen, Pink Tutu Sparkles, here, and guess what? This blog is a whopping Post Number 1295! Can you believe it?! It feels like only yesterday I was a wide-eyed, tutu-obsessed science student at uni, and now I'm a full-fledged travelling drag sensation!

This time, I'm writing to you from the lovely city of Nottingham! I arrived in style, of course - I couldn't resist taking the train from my beloved Derbyshire. There's just something magical about the rhythm of the tracks, the rhythmic sway of the carriageā€¦ it makes my tutu practically pirouette on its own!

Speaking of pirouettes, did you know Nottingham has a brilliant ballet scene? The Nottingham Royal Concert Hall hosted the Royal Ballet a few weeks ago and you know I was there in a pink tutu to soak it all in! The graceful moves, the stunning costumes, it was an absolute dream! And donā€™t even get me started on the dancersā€™ stunning pointe shoes. So much dedication, darling!

Oh, but before I get carried away with all the ballerinas and their incredible pirouettes (did I mention I took a few ballet classes at the Nottingham Dance Academy this week? Such talented and gracious instructors!), I must tell you about the wonderful people of Nottingham. Theyā€™re so kind and welcoming! Itā€™s a bit like being whisked back to my Derbyshire roots, but with a dash of urban excitement thrown in!

As a fellow lover of the stage and a dedicated queen of the pink tutu, I have to tell you about the absolutely fabulous local theater here. Thereā€™s this one play called ā€œPink Champagne Dreamsā€ at the Nottingham Playhouse ā€“ a deliciously camp, slightly risquĆ©, and completely hilarious tale about a group of drag queens. Naturally, I had to grab a ticket. The costumes were fabulous! Think big hair, sparkling sequins, and of course, several fabulous pink tutus!

Speaking of fabulousness, let me share a little fashion secret with you darlings! Did I mention I stopped by Nottinghamā€™s Victoria Shopping Centre? The sheer abundance of dazzling shops was enough to make any tutu-loving queen go squealing! But the most magnificent find of the whole trip? A brand new pink feather boa for my stage performance! Itā€™s a fluffy dream in the colour of my very heart!

The Nottingham market is also something quite extraordinary, darling! A labyrinth of stalls filled with everything from the most exquisite jewellery to fresh-baked treats that make your mouth water! And speaking of food, I stumbled across a divine cake shop on a street with a surprisingly charming name, Lace Market. I simply had to try their raspberry cake and believe me I was in pure foodie heaven!

The best part of my Nottingham journey, however, had to be meeting the delightful young woman named Emma. We met by sheer accident at the Nottinghamshire County Council building, where Iā€™d gone to see if I could wear a tutu on a horse-drawn carriage (think how lovely that would be! And maybe a pink one too, sigh ). I told her about my blog and the sheer delight of wearing a pink tutu and Emma took my idea with open arms, explaining how they love colourful fashion in Nottingham. The excitement I felt! Itā€™s always so wonderful to see people open to the pink-tutu dream!

This isn't just any old travelogue, darling, this is a tutu-tastic adventure, full of sparkles, dreams, and oh-so-much pink. You know what else I think? This beautiful city has completely convinced me to add Nottingham to the top of my list of favorite destinations to visit (alongside London, Paris, New Yorkā€¦ and my beloved Derbyshire, of course!). It's full of such sweet people, and they definitely appreciate the love of all things pink!

Don't forget to follow my pink tutu journey every day at www.pink-tutu.com, darlings! I canā€™t wait to share more fabulous pink-tutu adventures with you!

Until next time, remember: be bold, be glamorous, and above all, embrace the pink tutu!

Xoxo,

Pink Tutu Sparkles (aka Alex)
