Kensington Calling! šŸ©°šŸ’–šŸ‘‘ - Blog Post #1388

Oh my darlings, how are you? Iā€™m feeling positively fabulous today! Kensington is calling, and Iā€™m on my way! A royal appointment, you see! I'm not talking about tea with the Queen (though I would love that, and a spot of afternoon scones and clotted cream wouldn't go amiss!), no, this is a royal engagement of the pink-tutu-wearing kind!

Today, my darlings, weā€™re embarking on a grand adventure! It all started, as you know, with a whisper, a dream, a sparkle! Oh, the glamour! I mean, the fabulousity! A real theatre performance in the heart of London, right there in the heart of Kensington! Oh, the excitement! I could barely contain myself. My darling, the theatreā€¦it just screams ā€œdrama,ā€ right? Just like a fabulously dramatic pink tutu.

Now, Kensington is a place that has a touch of magic. I know, it may sound like a fairytale, but itā€™s true! All that history, all those parks, all that fashionā€¦ It's like a pink tulle tutu exploded right in the middle of it all! (No pun intended!) This, my darling, is just the beginning of the adventure, you see. I love how I'm getting to see new corners of London while on the journey. A little trip to see the Tower of London, Buckingham Palace, or maybe a visit to Harrods for some pink tulle is all part of this fabulous fun!

The best thing, darling? I get to share it all with you! Weā€™ll travel through pictures, stories, and my own inimitable observations, because that's how Pink Tutu Sparkles does it. Every trip has a sparkle, a flourish! Every outfit, a delightful explosion of pink! That's my motto: ā€œSee the world through a pink tutu!ā€ And that's what I'm all about. Making the world, and every journey, a fabulous celebration of all things pink and sparkly.

This whole adventure is about making a splash in Kensington, about spreading that pink-tutu joy, because let's be honest, the world needs more pink tutus in it, donā€™t you think? Think of it: the vibrant energy of a pink tulle flowing in the wind, like a little burst of joy. Imagine, my darlings, what could be achieved if we all dared to wear a pink tutu!

Before we launch into the exciting happenings of this trip, a little something personal about how I came to love these fabulous fluffy things in the first place.

How it all began

As you know, darlings, I've always loved my pink tutus. The tulle, the silk, the twirlā€¦.Oh, the joy! My love affair with the pink tutu began quite by chance, actually. Now, I'm sure you've guessed by now that Pink Tutu Sparkles isn't my real name! It's an alter ego, like a secret identity! You can call me Alex. And Alex is actually a bit of a scientist by day! But my love for science, believe it or not, was where my fascination with tutus started. You're probably wondering how that happened! I know, it sounds odd.

Well, I was at the university, you see, in Derby. Thatā€™s in Derbyshire, darling. Not the most fashionable spot in the UK, though I do love it, just in case you were wondering. That's where the tutu thing first got hold of me! Imagine that: a science student, deep in the midst of lab experiments, and yet with this deep longing for the fabulousness of the stage, the theatricality of the tutu.

I had the honor of being a member of the university's ballet club. I know, you wouldnā€™t think it to look at me in drag, but Alex was quite a keen ballet student for a time. Then the university was holding a charity event. It was for a charity I deeply believe in: The Tutu Foundation for Arts. Thatā€™s how it happened. The organization was raising money by selling hand-stitched pink tutus - with a matching bow - made by members of the universityā€™s ballet club, and to encourage folks to make donations by trying on a tutu, in front of their peers! It was a crazy, amazing idea.

It all felt quite strange at first - to slip into that soft tulle, to see it around me, to hear the gentle swish as I walked. It felt unreal. Then it happened - boom - bang - it just hit me. That moment of truth, like a bolt of pink-tutu lighting from heaven! And I just knew - in my soul, you see, my darling! The way a tutu felt was like magic, just as dramatic and magical as an outfit you might wear for a costume party. Then poof, the little voice inside my head said, ā€œWear a tutu!ā€. But my scientific brain told me to chill and be a proper grown-up in the science lab, right? I really love my work and the results my lab is able to achieve, as you can probably tell by the beautiful fabrics we get to work on.

From the lab to the stage

Oh, my darling, you know what happens next. After that experience at university I just knew that one day I'd wear that tutu! The little pink-tutu bug bit and got a good hold of me! Every once in a while it popped up in my mind again - that time at the university charity - and the next thing I knew I had taken a pink tutu home with me from a fair or an arts exhibition. Now, that's what happens when youā€™re a drag artist and a fashion blogger - pink tutus pop up like little gems on a grand pink necklace! It wasn't until after my university studies that I started to make my passion for pink tutus known. My drag name Pink Tutu Sparkles speaks for itself! This pink-tutu journey, it started back then in that ballet club at Derby Uni and it continues to sparkle in all the grand travels Iā€™ve been fortunate enough to go on!

Since then, my darlings, Iā€™ve worn a pink tutu all over the UK! Oh the fun and glamour Iā€™ve experienced on the way! There was my performance on the Southend pier; there was that evening under the Blackpool illuminations. Oh the sparkle of those lights, dancing across the tulle! And of course, those trips to Edinburgh and that fabulous Pride march last year! It's all part of my drag journey. My darling, drag and fashion go hand-in-hand - and that pink tutu! And letā€™s be honest - with the way drag queens have taken over television, film and music ā€“ whoā€™s going to say no to wearing a pink tutu to make that extra fabulous statement?

Travel by Train

But before I continue with the Kensington escapades, let's take a break and chat about travel - a very important aspect of my pink-tutu life! You see, darling, a good drag queen is all about knowing her city and knowing how to get around to each glamorous show. When Iā€™m on the move, itā€™s by train. Always, by train, unless I'm in an equestrian event and galloping around on horseback (which you should check out on the pink-tutu.com website, my darlings). The train, darling, it's like my own personal private theatre stage! My love of travelling by train comes, not just from a childhood fascination of my time on a little ride to my grandparents, but a love of travelling like a star. In that world of elegance, glamour and sophistication of the big wide world, you see.

From those big, Victorian stations, all grand and opulent in the most fantastic way - to the quaintest, sweetest little rural stations with all the country charm and a touch of the 19th-century English seaside! All of it, my darling, it's pure, glorious inspiration, it just sparks my imagination! I love being in the quiet, cosy carriage; sometimes reading a good book - often a little play by Shakespeare! Itā€™s good practice, you see - and an occasional ballet manual to polish up on my turns, twirls and poses (that sooo needs more work!).

Oh my darling, the sheer anticipation of reaching my destination...a city waiting to be explored, with so much fashion to discover, so much style to steal, so many ideas to be had! All of it adds to my Pink Tutu Sparkle!

The pink-tutu code

If there's anything more fabulous than my love for pink tutus, itā€™s the way Iā€™ve embraced my inner child - because that's how the pink tutu code lives, it doesn't really care what you do as long as sparkle comes from the heart. Youā€™ve got to be a bit of a dreamer, just like Alice in Wonderland, but not afraid to be yourself.

This is what my Pink Tutu Code is all about: It's a way of life, a way of thinking, my philosophy. Because letā€™s face it, darling, this crazy Pink Tutu world is just like Alice in Wonderland, only much sparklier - you never know what youā€™re going to find next - a talking white rabbit in a pink tutu?! Why not, my darling?!

The most important thing for my Pink Tutu Sparkles philosophy, and what Iā€™m here for, my darlings, is joy, and to spread that joy. Be happy! Itā€™s about having a good time and just going with the flow! The most wonderful thing, you see? When I wear a pink tutu, my darlings - it's a declaration, itā€™s like a statement. And that statement is ā€œI'm happyā€. Itā€™s a little bit of joy, just like the twirl of a tutu as I whirl across the stage, shining and sparkling in every glorious, fabulous, pink-tutu way.

You can learn how to join me on this pink-tutu mission by logging on to my website! Weā€™ve got our own pink-tutu guide that we are adding to each and every day, itā€™s just getting bigger and bigger and more sparkling! And letā€™s not forget my pink-tutu photo blog. Because all of it - it's all about spreading that joy, darling, spreading that sparkle, because I believe that if we can all live in a pink tutu world, life will be much more beautiful. Just try it - and remember, you can never be too pink, too sparkly or too tutu! Thatā€™s my life's mission and goal!

So let's take a trip to Kensington together, you and me, my darlings! This is just the beginning of an amazing pink-tutu journey! Buckle up your pink-tutu belts, grab a little extra pink tulle and join me! We'll find ourselves a royal ball! Just you wait. I promise youā€™ll love what I'm going to share with you. Stay tuned, darlings. Weā€™ve got lots more pink to discover. See you soon!
