Leicester, Here I Come! - Post #1557
Helloooo, darlings! Pink Tutu Sparkles here, reporting live from the heart of the Midlands, the glorious city of Leicester! This glamorous gal has been touring, you see, and Iāve traded my Derbyshire dales for the buzz of the city.
Oh, my dears, this journey was a true adventure. As much as I adore my trusty car (who I affectionately call Pink Sparkles), the train is truly where my heart lies. I popped my trusty pink tutu case in the luggage rack and spent the whole trip getting myself into character ā full glam, with my favourite pink feather boa draped around me like a royal cloak, natch. A few well-chosen glances to my fellow passengers (and maybe a gentle ādahlingā tossed about) are sure to brighten up any grey Tuesday commute.
And speaking of brightness, darling, you simply must have seen my latest creation. This magnificent tulle symphony is just the perfect blend of raspberry and coral. Honestly, it practically begs to be twirled! I'm planning a proper photo shoot once I get back to my little flat. My mum always insists that it needs more sparkles, of course, but she's always loved her shimmer. I suspect my love of sparkle runs in the genes.
But back to Leicester.
Honestly, it's all about the performance for me. I had my very own corner in the Market Square. Thatās right, darlings, not just any stage, but Leicester Market! There I was, centre stage (or rather, centre-square!), entertaining the locals. The children were simply captivated by my twirls and I even managed to snag myself a few new fans for my pink tutu revolution. A middle-aged chap in a tweed cap said, āYou know what, youāve inspired me to put a skirt on.ā I tell you, I might just bring the Midlands fashion game up a notch, darling!
Later that evening, I hit the Theatre Square in all its dazzling glory, which reminded me ā darling, you HAVE to see the latest show! Strictly Ballroom at the Curve! Oh, I tell you, those dancersā¦ graceful as gazelles. I have a newfound admiration for all the gorgeous gents that gracefully navigate those tiny little tutus, my darlings. I may need a little extra time getting into my pink one compared to those professionals but my stage presence makes up for it, wouldn't you say?
Speaking of dancing, I finally tried my hand at the Ballroom class at the Curve theatre! I think I even managed a rather sprightly cha-cha! They say all roads lead to the theatre, darlings, and now, for me, all twirls lead to the pink tutu.
There was also the most lovely vintage clothing shop tucked away in one of Leicesterās cute alleyways. My darling, I practically collapsed with glee! Velvet, feathers, sequinsā¦ oh, my heart is fluttering just thinking about it! I think I spent hours rummaging through the racks and, I may have even snagged a rather spectacular emerald green shawl. I swear, my collection will need its own postcode before Iām finished!
One thing is certain, my dears, youāll always find a way to twirl in this magnificent city, even if your name is Alex! Honestly, thereās something so liberating about stepping out of the lab and into my sparkly shoes! Don't get me wrong, I love my little corner of the lab, where I get to play with textiles all day long. I think I just got too obsessed with creating the perfect fabric for my very first Pink Tutu. My colleagues were more amused than horrified, although, my poor managerā¦ bless him, he simply rolled with it. The good thing about a little bit of pink, darling, it brightens even the gloomiest days, or the dreariest labs, just add sequins and voila!
Honestly, darlings, thereās nowhere else Iād rather be. But alas, time marches on and my trusty car, Pink Sparkles, is ready to take me on a new adventure. The whole Midlands is calling for Pink Tutu Sparkles and darling, I am ready!
Donāt forget to catch up on my daily blog, www.pink-tutu.com - Iāve got a whole bunch of ideas to turn you into the fabulous queen you were born to be! It might involve a pink tutuā¦ but youāll just have to check in and see!
Lots of love,
Pink Tutu Sparkles (and Alex) xoxo
(Psst, have you worn a pink tutu today? It really can be quite life-changing. Itās certainly been my best friend ever since that first charity fundraising nightā¦ and it has been quite a journey. Whoād have thought, Iād go from a shy scientist, obsessed with the perfect pink, to a confident performer whoās changing the world, one tutu at a time? You see, even with an odd obsession for tulle and glitter, you can be a superstar.)
