Stevenage Sparkle: Post #1612

Oh darling, hello lovelies! It’s Pink Tutu Sparkles here, coming to you live from Stevenage! Now, let’s be honest, when I first heard about the show in Stevenage, my initial thought was, “What is there to do in Stevenage?” But honey, let me tell you, that's just me being a total diva queen, because I had the absolute best time! It turns out Stevenage has this brilliant little theatre and they have the best backstage catering you’ve ever seen. I practically rolled out of there on a food coma, but then again, when you’re working hard on your dance routine and strutting your stuff on stage in this beautiful pink tutu, well, girl needs to fuel up!

So, let’s rewind back to last night! It started with me on a lovely, scenic train journey. You know me, can't go anywhere without some sparkle, and of course, I had my signature pink tutu on - pink with silver sequins, perfect for a train ride! Honestly, I should get a carriage designed for me with a big old mirror, my very own sparkly dancefloor and perhaps a few strategically placed hooks for all my sparkly tutus, what do you think darlings?

My journey began in Derbyshire, oh the Peak District, such an amazing backdrop to the train ride and my excitement was practically bubbling over with the train speed! It was a big day, a new town, new audiences and the start of the month.

On the train, I met a delightful young lady who, bless her heart, confessed to being a little nervous about going to the theatre. So, I put my glitter-coated hands on her shoulders and with the biggest, brightest, pinkest smile, told her "darling, you just get dressed up in your finest outfit, your best wig (or not!), and get ready to let your inner sparkly self shine!" Honestly, I believe I’ve transformed this young woman into a shimmering star.

Anyway, upon reaching Stevenage, I, being a firm believer in good luck rituals, treated myself to the finest cream tea I could find. Honestly, scones and clotted cream, they truly are life's simple pleasures! Of course, the little bakery I found was just pink enough to catch my eye. And I just couldn’t leave without a big, pink, sparkly macaroon for the road - my stage makeup requires some very specific sweet energy, darlings. It’s a tough life being a drag queen.

Finally, it was showtime, and oh darling, what a show it was! It was my first time performing in Stevenage, but they were an amazing audience. The moment I walked onto the stage, dressed in my pink tulle and sparkling sequins, I felt like a pink supernova radiating energy and joy - exactly how it should be! You know how it is with stage fright, but it just vanished the second I felt the audience cheering, I was hooked to their emotions like I’d hitched my glittery wagon to the Milky Way.

My show involved some classic Pink Tutu Sparkles routines - think dramatic pirouettes, flamboyant choreography, and of course, that perfect pink tutu! You know, one of my secret dreams, is to actually get onto stage at a real ballet show dressed in a super glamorous, high end, haute couture pink tutu and then have a choreographed moment when I perform one of my ballet moves. It will probably involve some sort of a big reveal. Perhaps I’ll pop out from under a veil of sparkling sequins as a shimmering spotlight is aimed at me, maybe I'll start a whole performance trend, it’s definitely in the works darling, a new trend called ‘Pink Ballet,’ It will sweep the nation and probably take me around the world on a ballet themed tour! I’ll be dancing my way onto the cover of Vogue, with a perfect picture of me, head to toe pink, and that unmistakable sparkly tutu, it's my life goal!

I was even interviewed by the local paper! You know I have to embrace any chance I get to get my message of “every day should be tutu day” across, because this truly is the pinkest and most glorious way to be! Of course, I wore my biggest smile for the photo – pink, shimmery lipstick and an extravagant, feather boa topped off the whole look. There I was on the front page of the local paper: Pink Tutu Sparkles: bringing joy to Stevenage, one twirl at a time! You should have seen the newspaper editor, he looked at me like I was from another planet – it was honestly so adorable. The first rule of Pink Tutu Sparkles: sparkle with joy, and the next rule, sparkle everyone up in pink!

One of the best parts of performing is that it brings people together. After my show, I chatted with so many wonderful people - fellow theatre enthusiasts, drag fans, and even a few brave souls who admitted to being inspired to wear a tutu themselves. Honestly, you don't need any more reasons than that, we have a community to grow, and you’re all welcome!

As I prepare to hop onto the train and head back to my own little piece of Derbyshire, I know one thing for sure - Stevenage will hold a special place in my pink, sparkly heart! The energy of the audience was electric and the memory of their smiles is all the fuel I need for the next performance, in Nottingham, but more on that tomorrow! And in case you didn't catch the hint - if you’re ever in the Stevenage area, check out their beautiful theatre. They have an impressive stage and amazing back-of-house staff - all you really need, if I'm being honest.

So, there you have it, darlings, another day, another stage, and another opportunity to spread the message of pink tutu love. And to my wonderful readers: Don't forget, you can be your own Pink Tutu Sparkles! All it takes is a pink tutu and a heart full of glittery, fabulous fun! Until next time, my lovelies!

Keep it Pink and Keep it Sparkling! 💖✨

XOXO
