Today, my lovelies, we're taking a trip to Carshalton, the delightful town that sits just outside London, a stone's throw from the Big Smoke and a horse's trot from the rolling hills of Surrey!
Before we dive into Carshalton's enchanting beauty, a little update for you dears! My latest travel plans are well underway! Just last week, I waltzed across the stage of a dazzling wedding reception, spreading joy and tulle, you could say, to a very lucky couple! They loved it, and so did their guests - you could practically hear the tutu-filled joy ringing out in the night! They said the reception was the "sparkliest wedding theyād ever seen," and of course, that included their fabulous wedding cake! Whatās a drag queenās favourite part of a wedding cake? Well, my lovelies, you know I had to try and eat my way through the bottom tier! š
But Carshalton beckons, calling me like the sweetest, most sparkly siren song! And you can bet your best pair of dance shoes that Iām not leaving without capturing its glamour for you! My fabulous tutu and I will be exploring its streets, shops and squares ā who knows what tutu-tastic adventures await us! I am simply giddy with anticipation!
Today, the journey to Carshalton begins, my sweethearts! Iām embarking on the journey in the most whimsical of ways: by train! Yes, darlings! I absolutely adore those romantic choo-choo trains. A glass of pink lemonade and the whizzing sound of wheels on track - itās an adventure in itself! š I can picture myself twirling in the train carriages, everyone smiling as my pink tulle billows and swirls! They say the journey is just as important as the destination, but truthfully, darling, for me, both are filled with sparkly delights! š
Let me tell you about Carshalton's reputation for embracing the artistic spirit. And who doesnāt love the arts, my dears? Well, you know this queen is thrilled to learn about its vibrant art scene! Itās renowned for its incredible theatre, music venues and art galleries, all filled with exciting productions. As a queen, you know, it's in my blood! š From the grandeur of The Carshalton Town Hall's theatre, home to amateur dramatic groups and plays that make the hairs stand on my neck with anticipation, to the buzzing independent studios tucked away in secret corners of the town, filled with creativity - Carshalton is a feast for the senses, an artistic haven where magic unfolds with every performance.
Now, the theatre, the music, the artā¦ these all sound wonderful, darling! But weāve got to talk about a Queen's most favourite activityā¦ shopping! Itās a part of any true divaās journey, especially a tutu-clad queen like me! šļø Imagine rows and rows of beautiful shops, showcasing everything from exquisite vintage dresses and decadent jewellery to enchanting trinkets and treasures you couldn't dream up! I am simply bursting with anticipation! Carshalton has an abundance of independent stores and boutiques, so I'm practically licking my lips with anticipation, imagining myself hunting for perfect pink tutu accessories or, of course, a gorgeous new ensemble to wear during my upcoming performances. This shopping spree, my loves, will definitely be for my next fabulous blog post. Keep those tutu dreams shimmering, my lovelies! šāØ
But darling, let's not forget the real star of the show! Yes, my sweethearts! You guessed it! It's the glorious dance! Carshaltonās famous dance academy, renowned for its vibrant atmosphere, welcomes talented dancers of all ages. Oh, the glamour! You're going to love my adventures in this beautiful place. From ballet lessons with instructors whose moves are more graceful than the wind in the willow trees to stunning professional shows featuring ballerinas and dancers in captivating outfits ā Carshalton is the ultimate playground for all things dance, the perfect location to practice my pirouettes! A drag queen in Carshalton, twirling a tutuā¦ my dreams really are coming true!
Now, I simply MUST share with you my biggest secret weapon ā the absolute perfect place to eat in Carshalton: āThe Pink Tutu Patisserie,ā which coincidentally has a little pink flamingo in their window! Pink and a flamingo? This has to be a sign from the tutu gods, my loves! š¦© Now, the patisserie offers an array of delights from the most divine macarons in an explosion of colours to creamy, silky smooth eclairs. Iāve heard whispers that the place serves the most magnificent cakes in town. Imagine this, darling! Iām sitting at a table in the cutest, most elegant patisserie with a cup of steaming hot cocoa, enjoying the fluffiest strawberry Ć©clair while plotting my next stage outfits and performancesā¦ the sweetest dream in a world of tutu-tastic glory! šāØ
I know I said that a horse and cart sounds like the perfect travel buddy, but Carshalton, oh, you are full of wonderful surprises! This enchanting place has a vibrant green heart, the glorious Carshalton Park. Imagine walking beneath trees older than time itself, their branches twirling towards the heavens, dappling sunlight through the trees like confetti falling from the sky. Or picturing a lazy picnic on a patch of lush, green grass with my best pink picnic blanket, topped with a beautiful spread fit for a queen! It will definitely involve lots of delicious strawberries and creamy yoghurt. Now, you know me, I like my pink foods. I simply adore the park's majestic lake where swans gracefully glide and ducks dive for bread. Thereās also a fantastic cafe in the park! So what could be more romantic, more magical, and more picture perfect for the Pink Tutu Sparkles, but a long afternoon stroll through Carshalton Park, perhaps stopping for a quick cuppa and a slice of cake at the park cafĆ©? Now thatās the real recipe for happiness, wouldnāt you agree, darling? š³š
You may be wondering about all the magic that awaits at the end of the train ride, at my Carshalton stage performance, my dear readers. And what can I say except it's a symphony of sparkle! Iāll be performing at the Town Hall's Theatre, yes darling, that glorious place, which has been around since Victorian times! Itās as old as time itself and simply brimming with historic charm! It will make my heart sing and, letās face it, there is something absolutely irresistible about historical charm, wouldn't you agree, lovelies? Itās where history meets glitter, and that my dears, is always an unbeatable combination! I have some very special plans in place. For one, Iāve even created a new outfit that has every possible pink shade from the most beautiful, pale rose to vibrant magentaā¦ with feathers galore, glitter by the spoonful and just a touch of sparkleā¦ you see, this look just has to be seen!
Iāve even incorporated some wonderful elements into my act inspired by the enchanting history of Carshalton and the park. But I canāt tell you everything yet, my sweethearts! I want it to be a surprise. I must say, there will be plenty of twirls, and a whole lot of pink! I wouldnāt dream of leaving out those shimmering, dazzling tutus. I just can't wait to feel the energy of the audience and bring my pink-tastic tutu-tastic joy to this beautiful town. Itās an enchanting space with a beautiful buzz! š«
