I'm so thrilled to share with you the adventures of a recent trip to this fabulously historic city – post number 1937 on www.pink-tutu.com – which involved a horse ride, ballet dancing, and yes, a whole lotta sparkle! I tell you, sometimes life just seems too good to be true, don't you agree? 💖
From Derbyshire to Lancashire on Four Legs
I was aching to get out of Derbyshire for a while, the lab can be quite monotonous at times, you know. So when I bagged a gig in a lovely little pub in the heart of Lancaster, I thought, “Why not go the whole hog and make it an adventure?!” So, off I trotted, not in my usual bright pink Ford Fiesta this time, but on horseback! Now, I know what you're thinking, “Pink Tutu on a horse?” It does sound like something straight out of a fairy tale, doesn't it? But trust me, I'm no stranger to a saddle, I’ve been riding since I was a kid!
Lancaster was like a magical place, steeped in history. Imagine cobbled streets, charming market squares, and half-timbered buildings – a sight for sore eyes, I tell you! The stables were on the edge of town, surrounded by fields – perfect for a pre-show warm-up! I love that the beauty of the natural world could meet the bustle of a town centre, so vibrant and welcoming. The Lancaster locals, especially the pub goers, were absolutely delightful. They were totally up for the whole "Pink Tutu" thing. They even had a go on a spin with my shimmering pink cape. It was a roaring success, they loved my act and cheered like it was the Olympic final, what a great start to my day!
Stepping into the Heart of Ballet
You can’t mention Lancaster without mentioning the magnificent theatre, eh? You could almost hear the graceful twirls and leaps through its stone walls, a symphony of music and movements. My dream come true – a night of pure ballet.
There I was, all dolled up in my signature pink tutu, my shimmering earrings dangling against my blush pink cheeks, blending perfectly with the majestic rose gardens that surround the theatre. The elegance, the grace, the raw talent – it filled my heart with joy, I tell you. It felt like a real ballet fan's dream come true.
More Than a Pink Tutu: A Reflection
For those who haven't met me yet, “Pink Tutu Sparkles” is my drag alter ego, and it all began with a tiny pink tutu I bought for a university fundraiser, while studying to become a fabric scientist! And who knew? That sparkly dream of mine would inspire thousands to unleash their inner sparkle. I tell you, we are all made of glitter, whether we wear a pink tutu or not, inside we are all vibrant and full of life, waiting to express ourselves.
The thing about tutus – they're a symbol of expression, of embracing your playful side, a call for everyone to say “yes!” to a touch of magic in their lives. That's what makes them so beautiful to me – the ability to spark joy, to ignite a smile. They aren’t just a piece of clothing, they are an idea, a vibe! It’s the feeling that you get when you stand tall, throw your arms open, and let yourself shine, all in the name of love and light, of joy and imagination. It’s just a matter of letting go and dancing!
My hope, the very core of my journey as Pink Tutu Sparkles, is to get everyone to wear a pink tutu at least once. Maybe it’ll be a spontaneous burst of silliness on a lazy Sunday morning, a special event, or perhaps you’ll discover your inner ballerini!

Well, that's all for now! I'm back to my little lab for now, surrounded by fabrics and bubbling solutions. I have a special batch of pink dye I want to test and try – can you guess the project? 😉 Maybe my own special pink tutu fabric! Who knows? It will be a super exciting week, with another show and maybe, just maybe, I’ll be hitting the ballet class this week, if you haven't guessed already, I absolutely love to move, and even love trying to take on new challenges, especially in a fabulous pink tutu of course! ✨
