Bridlington Brilliance!

Post 2004

Hello darlings! Your fabulous Tutu Queen is back with another delightful blog post! As you know, I’m a girl who loves to travel, and today, my suitcase is bursting with frills, sparkles, and of course, a whole arsenal of pink tutus! Today’s destination: the seaside gem of Bridlington!

It's been a while since I've had a proper seaside adventure. I love the salty air, the sound of the seagulls, and the pure, unadulterated joy of a good old-fashioned promenade. Of course, there’s nothing like strutting your stuff on the pier, with the wind whipping your pink tulle skirt and the sea crashing below. What could be more magical?

Oh, I can't help but share this, but I was feeling so inspired this morning by the seagulls, they really gave me that “I can do anything, just like a bird taking flight" attitude. Honestly, I swear I saw one try to do a little ballet pirouette before soaring off! We might be on land, but the seaside magic gets me feeling like a true feathered friend, a sparkly pink swan soaring above it all.

And you know me, I wouldn't travel anywhere without a show! I was absolutely thrilled to get the chance to perform at the Bridlington Harbour Inn last night. Now, a proper seaside pub – can it get any more delightful?

The crowd was fantastic! A real mix of people. It's been amazing to meet such a diverse audience. One young girl, bless her cotton socks, even requested a "tutu twirl!" So naturally, I obliged, of course. I'll admit, I do have a soft spot for little ones discovering the wonder of drag. It’s like seeing your own childhood joy reflected in their faces, all wide-eyed and in awe!

Before my show, I couldn't resist taking a stroll down the seaside, soaking in the atmosphere. There was even a group of young boys, all wearing those little stripy Breton tops. My heart melted, so I whipped out my favourite pink sparkly tutu for a quick photo op with the little dears! Let me tell you, the joy they got from that moment – it was worth every shimmer!

And of course, the whole thing couldn’t have been complete without a good old-fashioned trip to the chippy for a delightful supper. Let's face it, seaside doesn’t get much more British than that. Now, a chippy doesn’t just have a lovely, comforting vibe; it has great options too! Even my fellow vegetarian friends are spoiled for choice, trust me. And let's not forget the sweet, sweet, salt and vinegar on those chips!

And, as a bonus, my dear friend Penelope was in town, visiting from Derbyshire (where I was born, funnily enough!), so she joined me for an afternoon of girly-girl seaside fun. It felt like we were right back to those fun times as kids – splashing in the sea, building sandcastles (that always looked a lot more elaborate in my head), and, of course, sharing that one cheesy ice cream we couldn’t finish but had to try!

Remember, girls, embrace life with all its bright and colourful sides! Embrace pink tutus and make life an extra sparkle! You may be asking, how can you fit a full-length pink tutu in a small, compact suitcase? I promise, darlings, my tutu-travel life hacks will be coming in a later post. Until next time!
