North Shields: A Tutu-ful Day Out! 🩰💖✨

Hello darlings! Pink Tutu Sparkles here, bringing you all the glitz and glam from my latest adventure! This is post number 2007 on my fabulous pink-tutu-filled journey – can you believe it? We've come so far, darlings, and it's all thanks to you, my devoted followers.

As usual, I'm going to dive right in and tell you about my incredible day in North Shields! Now, I'm sure many of you think "North Shields? That's a bit... bleak, isn't it?" Oh darlings, don't you judge! My motto is always: "Where there's pink, there's sparkle!" And trust me, I found it!

This little adventure started bright and early, with the sun streaming through my bedroom window. Honestly, sometimes it feels like I'm living in a fairytale – and with the colour pink in my life, why shouldn't it? You see, my love affair with tutus started back in uni, while I was studying my science degree (yes, you read that right! I'm a scientist by day, a shimmering queen by night!). I was in the university ballet club, and for a charity event, I got to try on a tutu. And well, the rest, as they say, is history! The feeling, the flutter, the oh-so-delicate tulle… I was hooked. Now, pink was always my favourite colour, and it just seemed to click. So, ever since, my alter ego, Pink Tutu Sparkles, has been making the world a more vibrant place, one sparkly tutu at a time.

This trip to North Shields was a bit different. You see, I don't just get to travel by train or horse like I usually do. Sometimes, for gigs in the less glitzy parts of the country, the logistics are a little more... "unconventional". So, I found myself in the passenger seat of a bright yellow, slightly rickety, but oh-so-cheerful little car! We were travelling to perform at a town fair, and even though it was a tad on the bumpy side, it was the most exciting ride! Who needs fancy carriages anyway? It was all part of the adventure, and as the driver belted out a bit of "Dancing Queen", I knew it was going to be a good one. After all, you can't sparkle without a little shake-up, right?

Arriving at the fairground, I felt a thrill course through me. The smells of cotton candy and candy floss hung in the air, along with the excited chatter of the crowds. I always feel so at home at fairs. They have such a sense of joy and possibility!

For the performance, I went for a full-on 'Pink Paradise' theme. Imagine: A vibrant, rose-pink tutu with shimmering pink sequins, matched with a fluffy pink feather boa, and of course, my signature sparkling tiara. The crowds were delighted, clapping along to my routine as I swirled and twirled, performing some of my favourite dance moves. Let me tell you, those steps look effortless, but trust me, it takes years of ballet training to make it all look so elegant and whimsical! I mean, who knew all those years at ballet classes would come in handy? Not just for my stage performances, but even in the fabric lab by day. A scientist with an extra flair, I tell ya! Anyway, back to the fair!

The highlight of my trip, besides the sheer delight of being in a vibrant town with friendly locals (I can't stress this enough, North Shields really took me by surprise!) was a lovely visit to the town’s ballet school. Honestly, I got so excited seeing these little munchkins in their beautiful costumes, and their eager little faces as they practiced their steps. The teacher, a kind-looking woman named Miss Lily, took me on a tour of their school, showing me their practice room and their costumes. They even had a special wall dedicated to "Past Pupils" featuring photos of students, some who have gone on to achieve their dreams in professional dance companies! Seeing the school just warmed my heart. They reminded me of the joy and passion I had as a child when I started out. Oh, how I miss those early days! But let me tell you, there's still so much fun and sparkle in performing as Pink Tutu Sparkles.

I felt inspired seeing these little ballerinas - they gave me an extra sprinkle of energy, which really kicked up the spark for my performance that night. The town had organised a street party to end the fair with a bang. Imagine: a long, winding street buzzing with music, lights, food stalls and families enjoying the warm summer evening. I performed on a makeshift stage and oh my goodness, the cheers of the crowd! They were such a wonderful audience. It felt as if I was bringing them a little bit of magic.

Now, even though it's a fair, North Shields definitely has some charm, it felt a bit more “industrial” and a tad less glitz than usual. So, for a real dose of glam, I took myself to a lovely cafe in the harbour area (a total contrast to the industrial side!) where I sipped on a sparkling raspberry lemonade and enjoyed watching the boats bobbing up and down in the harbour. I think there was some live music playing too! So pretty and charming.

I also discovered the most incredible antique shop hidden down a cobbled street, and guess what? There were a few tutus amongst all the vintage treasures! Oh, I felt like I was in heaven, picking out beautiful vintage tutus in a rainbow of colours - with a special fondness for the baby pinks! (Let's be honest, it is my favourite colour!) But you know me, my sweet readers - it wouldn’t be a real Pink Tutu Sparkles adventure if I didn’t pick up something new! The shopkeeper, a sweet little lady named Betty, showed me some amazing pink sparkly ballet flats. Oh, she understood! So, after a bit of a bargain, the flats came home with me. I think it was Betty who even said "Pink tutus are the most amazing fashion! They just add a little bit of magic to everyone's life". How very, very wise!

In the end, my little journey to North Shields was just what I needed - a chance to connect with the magic of dance, to inspire the next generation of ballerinas, and to bring some sparkle to a charming little town.

Before I sign off, a little reminder, my loves: If you’re ever feeling a little down or like the world is just a bit too grey, remember: there's always a reason to sparkle! Embrace your own uniqueness, wear your pink tutu with confidence, and always, always be yourself.

Stay glamorous, darlings,
