Wickford: A Pink Tutu Whirlwind!

Hello darlings! It's your favourite pink-loving, tutu-twirling queen, Pink Tutu Sparkles, reporting live from the charming town of Wickford. This is post number 2012, and I'm so excited to share this delightful journey with you all. You know how I feel about travelling; trains and horses - I'm a firm believer that the journey is just as much fun as the destination!

But before I get into the glitz and glamour of Wickford, I have to tell you about a rather curious and exciting development. As you know, Iā€™m a science geek at heart (despite the fabulousness), I work as a fabric analyst during the day, all those scientific skills come in handy to test new fabrics for their texture, tear-resistance, colour fastness and a whole host of other important details. But just the other day, whilst analyzing some very sparkly sequins for my next fabulous outfit, I stumbled across a strange yet wonderful thing... a new type of pink! It was this absolutely gorgeous, almost fluorescent pink. Iā€™ve never seen anything like it before, and of course I immediately knew that it would look fabulous on a tutu! So you can bet your bottom dollar that Iā€™m already in the process of creating a new number for my performances; a fabulous fusion of science and fashion. I just need to figure out how to incorporate my sparkly sequin findings into a new tutu. The possibilities are endless!

But let's get back to Wickford. I had the absolute joy of arriving by train; I adore train journeys! Itā€™s always such an exciting adventure, especially with my huge, overflowing suitcase full of sparkles and tutus. It just takes so much luggage to create the perfect Pink Tutu Sparkles experience!

Once I got settled in, I couldn't wait to explore this charming little town. My aim in life is to spread the love for the pink tutu, one fabulous performance at a time, so Wickfordā€™s historical streets seemed like the perfect stage. I headed down to the charming Market Square; a picturesque centre with a pretty war memorial, traditional cobbled streets, and colourful little shops. Youā€™d never guess you were just outside London. I managed to slip a quick twirl in my pinkest tutu amidst the bustle; imagine my delight when a little girl in a bright pink dress shouted out ā€œYouā€™re just like a real princess!ā€, before rushing off to her mum. Honestly, this is the part that makes all the hard work worthwhile; knowing that youā€™re bringing joy to others through my love of pink tutus and dance.

Later that evening, I had a chance to showcase my latest choreography ā€“ Iā€™m talking fabulous moves, stunning visuals, and of course a sparkly pink tutu. This time I wasnā€™t at a traditional dance theatre or on a bustling stage but in a cosy and quirky pub with a friendly and appreciative crowd! My heart nearly burst with excitement! I was even invited to lead the audience in a line-dancing tutorial; which was a great way to end a brilliant evening! Even though some of the locals were surprised at the sight of a tutu-wearing queen (you canā€™t expect a pink tutu to be everyday fashion in Wickfordā€¦ can you? Although after seeing me, they might just change their minds!) everyone seemed to enjoy themselves and got really into the whole thing! It just proves you can bring a touch of glamour and pinkness anywhere.

One thing I learned this week in Wickford was the magic of horse-riding! I donā€™t have a regular mount for my travels (alas!), so it was a real treat for me. And wouldnā€™t you know it ā€“ the Wickford Riding School had a lovely pink saddle ā€“ it was so delightful I almost shed a glitter tear! You should have seen me in the saddle, pink tutu flowing in the breeze, cantering across the fieldsā€¦ truly a glorious moment in my pink tutu journey! I must confess that horse riding and pink tutus just go hand-in-hand for me; the perfect combination of elegance and animal love! I highly recommend this to any of you who love pink tutus and horses ā€“ the joy is unforgettable!

But wait there's more! My stay in Wickford led me to discover an absolute hidden gem: The Wickford Memorial Hall. It was more beautiful than anything I had imagined, built in 1923, it's a grand old hall, but also such a sweet, intimate venue with lovely art nouveau decoration. The perfect spot to showcase my drag act for a more mature audience. And I can assure you, even if their ages ranged from their late fifties to their mid-eighties, it was one of the best, and most spirited performances Iā€™ve had the joy of presenting. Everyone sang along with my dance numbers, even my own special rendition of ā€˜Singing in the Rainā€™. They absolutely loved me twirling in my pink tulle dress ā€“ not exactly a tutu, but pink!

My heart was filled with warmth as I packed my sparkling luggage and said farewell to Wickford. Thereā€™s a magic to this little town; its warmth, its vibrancy, and its embrace of the unexpected. I was truly inspired by Wickfordā€™s beauty and the kindness of the locals. So to you, dear Wickford, I say: Thank you!

Until next time, stay fabulous, and keep twirling in pink tutus,

Pink Tutu Sparkles,

xx
