Brighton, Oh Brighton! - Post 2086

Hello darlings! It's your favourite pink tutu queen, Pink Tutu Sparkles, here, back with another exciting post from the fabulous world of sparkly sequins and, yes, you guessed it - pink tutus!

This week I'm bringing you sunshine, sea breezes, and the electric atmosphere of Brighton! This place has it all - colourful shops, amazing architecture, delicious sea air and a vibrancy that's positively infectious. You just can't help but smile when you're here.

Now, I know what you're thinking - how did a pink tutu queen end up in Brighton? Well, my dears, this fabulous trip all began with a trip to a little haberdashery shop. It was a whirlwind of silks, ribbons, and sequins, all vying for my attention! But then, amidst all that sparkle, I spotted the most divine shade of pink. It was calling my name! My heart skipped a beat (I don't know how I managed to maintain my equilibrium with all the twirling in the shop, it's a miracle!). And of course, what goes with pink like sunshine and cocktails? Why, a tutu! A beautiful pink, full-length, tulle tutu, so delicate and airy, it almost felt like a dream. It's my new favourite, and naturally, I just had to bring it on this Brighton escapade.

I travel a lot, you see, spreading the joy of pink tutus wherever I go. It's not just about fashion; it's about a feeling. Wearing a tutu makes you feel joyful, carefree, like you can conquer the world. Who wouldn't want a bit of that? I spend most days doing a lot of hard sciencey work - yes, a bit of a surprise for a pink tutu wearing queen! But I have a hidden talent for testing materials. What do you know? Fabric has to be my speciality. When my work is done, I whip out my latest creation (I'm always making something!), throw on a killer makeup look and rock out at any performance that'll have me. I'm a very busy lady.

This time, the adventure started with a scenic train journey, a journey made extra special by the delightful train staff who even let me do a twirl or two! After arriving in the bustling city, I wasted no time grabbing some fish and chips by the sea and indulging in a little pink flamingo-shaped ice cream (it seemed fitting, don't you think?).

Of course, I wouldn't be Pink Tutu Sparkles if I didn't check out the local ballet scene. And let me tell you, Brighton's ballet world is bursting with talent! I popped in to see a performance by the Brighton Dance Theatre. Their choreography was exquisite, a mix of modern and classic that was both beautiful and thrilling. The graceful movements, the intricate footwork, the sheer joy of dance, all set against the backdrop of the sea. It was breathtaking. Afterwards, I couldn't resist heading over to their studio to try out a beginner's class. Let me tell you, that class was hard! I think my tutu got caught on a couple of barres, and let's just say, the ballet girls are truly, wonderfully strong! They are my heroes!

Later on, I went for a leisurely stroll along the promenade, soaking up the sun and enjoying the vibrant street art, a wonderful display of colour and expression. Everywhere you look there are bursts of beautiful detail, each piece telling its own unique story. It really inspired my own artistic side, and I can’t wait to see what creations I can come up with.

Now, for all of you planning a visit to Brighton, here are a few gems you shouldn’t miss!

  • The Lanes: These labyrinthine streets are a shopper's paradise. You'll find everything from independent boutiques and antique shops to vintage clothing stores and jewellery designers.
  • The Royal Pavilion: This exotic palace with a Moorish facade is truly a sight to behold. It's a testament to Brighton's unique charm and historical heritage. Be sure to take a tour and marvel at the exquisite interiors and ornate gardens.
  • Brighton Beach: For a touch of sunshine and sea air, head over to Brighton beach. Get your dose of seaside fun by strolling along the promenade, having a go at the fairground games, or relaxing on the soft sand while enjoying some tasty seaside treats. You'll be thanking me later.
  • Brighton Dome: If you love the arts, this stunning venue hosts a wide range of events from theatre productions and ballet to musicals and music concerts. Don't miss their annual Brighton Festival for an abundance of music, dance and visual arts.

And for you pink tutu enthusiasts, I couldn't leave Brighton without mentioning a little local store called "The Tutu Shop." Now, you can't expect me to give away my secrets on how I find the best tutu makers, but this is a truly special spot for those wanting the perfect tutus in their lives! You never know what sparkly surprises you’ll find inside.

Brighton truly has stolen a piece of my heart. It's the kind of city that celebrates individuality and creativity, a place where everyone is free to express themselves, just like me in my sparkly tutu. And with that, my darlings, I’m off to a performance at a nearby village pub tonight. They need a bit of Pink Tutu Sparkle in their lives and you can bet I'm more than ready to spread that sparkle!
