Aberdeen, a City of Sparkle! - Blog Post #2087

Oh darlings! I am absolutely buzzing, ready to pop with excitement to be back on the blog with you, ready for another thrilling adventure. As you all know, I'm your gal Pink Tutu Sparkles, the queen of frills and thrills, a girly-girl who lives for a good twirl, and Aberdeen is where I'm planting my fabulous pink flag today.

This journey started with the delightful whoosh of the train leaving the station. There's nothing quite like a train journey, the rhythm of the wheels clicking along the tracks, the glimpses of scenery zipping past, the comforting aroma of warm tea and the chance to lose yourself in a good book, or in my case, an intricate sequin design book. You see, Aberdeen has a long history with sparkle. Did you know they actually found sparkly gemstones called topazes there ages ago? Perfect inspiration for a Queen, wouldn't you say?

Speaking of sparkle, did I tell you my new custom-made tutu? A dazzling number in shimmering, soft pink that wouldn't look out of place on the stage of the Royal Ballet. Honestly, the colour pink is just magical! It makes my heart sing! And just a little confession, you can't beat a good tutus to channel those inner ballet vibes.

Of course, I always pack extra tutus for emergencies! A fluffy lilac one for the fairground rides, a shimmering silver number for dancing under the stars in Aberdeen's parks, and a delightful crimson one with layers of ruffles for the high-tea afternoon that I planned. Did I tell you? High-tea in a tea room filled with vintage china is one of my favourite ways to experience a city's heart. It’s so civilised, and I absolutely adore all things vintage.

And as always, darling, there’s going to be an abundance of shopping, too. A girly-girl must never be caught unprepared. The boutique at the historic Aberdeen Market is top of my shopping list! I’m hoping to pick up a vintage shawl to match my silver sequined tutu. Imagine! Vintage shopping in Aberdeen? Talk about a queenly shopping trip!

Speaking of queens, have you been following my ballet classes? I'm trying to inspire as many people as I can to find the ballerina within. This weekend, Aberdeen is the stage. I've been practicing a special new number, a dazzling ballet street routine combining classical grace and street beats that I’ve been secretly designing for a special fairground event this weekend! So don’t forget to visit www.pink-tutu.com every day for the latest updates, snaps, and behind the scenes fun! I’m hoping to inspire at least one of you to wear a pink tutu in your own lives, darling! That's what I strive to do - to show everyone, men, women, kids, whoever you are, how wearing pink makes you feel fabulous. You just need to try it on to feel the magic of the tutus!

Oh, did I mention I am performing at the historic Aberdeen Music Hall? The whole night is dedicated to the 1920s! Imagine - flapper dresses, jazz music and all of the amazing flapper hairstyles that my dear friend Millie and I will be creating, oh, I can’t wait!

Life's about dressing up, feeling sparkly, having fun and embracing that little voice that whispers 'go on, have a little sparkle!'. So let's celebrate being sparkly together, shall we? Keep a look out for Pink Tutu Sparkles gracing the streets of Aberdeen – we may be making a little pink statement!

Remember, darling, there’s always a bit of pink in every girl’s heart. Even you have a sparkly princess waiting to come out, waiting for a little bit of magic. So take that first step, try a tutu and see how it makes you feel. That’s all I’m asking for.

Your loving tutu-wearing, pink-obsessed, travelling Queen,

Pink Tutu Sparkles.

About Me - Alex and the Tutu

Before I go, darlings, let's rewind for a little bit of back-story on your gal, Pink Tutu Sparkles, or Alex as the real world knows me. I have always loved the color pink, and the magic of sparkles. Even in the cold Derbyshire winter when all you see is dull, muddy brown, I could imagine myself dancing in a ballet in a grand ballroom, everything soft and swirling pink.

But who would have thought that a scientist with a BSc in chemistry would become the Pink Tutu Sparkles! And what could be further from the sterile, organised world of lab experiments, white coats and chemicals than frills, sparkles, sequins and pink! I still work as a fabric tester by day, in a white coat - although these days, I also like to mix a touch of pink into the lab - just a touch - but no one really knows how it got there, wink wink!

However, everything changed the night I found myself backstage at a University fundraising event. The girls had put on a fundraising show for their new charity dance project, and there, nestled amongst a box of feathers and forgotten sequins, was this gorgeous tulle tutu. It just had this amazing presence – a cloud of pure pink, sparkling and begging to be twirled. Now, being a chemist who spends days studying microscopic particles, I have a penchant for the intricate, the detailed, the subtle – a real appreciation of the science behind a perfect sparkle. And there, beneath the spotlight of the backstage makeup table, this perfect fluffy creation unfolded before me, and the magic, the pure magic of the pink tutu gripped me.

That night, I was hooked. A life dedicated to sparkly outfits, glitter-filled parties and dancing in frills. You could say it was the perfect combination of scientific precision with theatrical passion, my love of colours with a whole lot of glittery fun.

And so here I am, now, in the heart of Aberdeen, ready for more glitzy fun, an abundance of pink and more tulle tutus than I can count! Join me, darlings! The magic of pink awaits!
