Hastings - Pink Tutu Sparkles Goes Coastal!

Blog Post #2126 - October 26th, 2005

Hello my darlings, it's your favourite pink-tutu-clad drag queen, Pink Tutu Sparkles! Today's adventure took me all the way to the beautiful seaside town of Hastings, a place known for its historic castle and, of course, the iconic Battle of Hastings, which, of course, was all very, very long ago, so don't let any of the locals know I'm a history buff.

Let me tell you, it was a real journey getting there. I considered my trusty bicycle for this trip, but the wind has been fierce lately and well, the pink tutu could end up as a human kite and frankly, that would just be ridiculous! No, for a jaunt like this, my trusted method of travel had to be the trusty railway. Trains are such a beautiful form of transport, especially on a clear, sunny day. The chugging and rocking as you look out the window makes me feel like Iโ€™m starring in a film, you know? Imagine me in a lovely vintage carriage with my signature pink tulle billowing about โ€“ such a glamorous vision!

I confess I did feel a tad overdressed for the day train commute in full Pink Tutu Sparkles regalia, complete with diamond-studded tiara, but then, when did ever being overdressed become a thing? Especially when you have a statement piece as spectacular as a pink tutu? It truly takes any outfit to a whole new level of fab!

Fashion Tip: Never be afraid to make a statement. Embrace the "overdressed" look! Life is too short to blend in.

First Stop โ€“ Hastings Old Town

The moment I set foot in Hastings, I knew I had made the right choice! A charming old town brimming with quirky shops, cafes and historical landmarks, the kind of place that transports you to a bygone era. And speaking of era, the locals seemed rather taken with my vintage fashion choices โ€“ especially the tutu, naturally!

There was a charming antique shop packed full of lovely curios and trinkets that really had me squealing! Just picture it, vintage teacups and delicate china figurines, vintage clothes with all the ruffles and lace and beads...I was tempted to pack it all into a steamer trunk and ship it back to Derbyshire but decided to hold off for now, just a few, shall we say essentials, as a treat for the evening performance at a charming little tea shop on the outskirts of town!

I also stopped in a shop that specialized inโ€ฆ drum rollโ€ฆ ballet supplies! Talk about my kind of place! It had everything I could ever want - from dainty ballet shoes and silk leotards to tutus of every shade imaginable!

I was so excited to pick up a few new tulle swatches for a new show-stopping creation. Think softest blush pink layered on a bed of shimmery rose gold tulle. And, you just wait until you see it with my new feather trim!

A Little Theatrical Drama!

After the shopping extravaganza, it was time for a little theatre. Hastings has an intimate little theatre called The Stage Door. I'd heard it was a true gem in the town, renowned for its charming atmosphere and, even more important to me, the exquisite performances! So of course, I just had to check it out!

I love going to theatre. Not only is it a brilliant display of performance skills, it inspires me for my own shows. This time, the local drama school was performing a play called "Alice's Adventures in Wonderland", a real treat. And you can never go wrong with the story of a young girl entering a magical realm! This was so very pink tutu inspired - the sheer magic and creativity reminded me why I love doing what I do!

My highlight? Watching the performance in my pink tutu was quite the statement โ€“ all eyes were on me and it was fabulously flattering. I was practically sparkling with delight! As always, I found it easy to become absorbed in the story โ€“ that is the power of the performing arts! I even overheard one lady whispering to her friend: โ€œNow, isn't she just absolutely charming?" That, dear reader, is the kind of affirmation a queen loves to hear!

A Royal Celebration

Speaking of โ€œabsolutely charming," no trip to Hastings could possibly be complete without a visit to its famous castle! So of course, my pink tutu and I made a grand entrance!

The old castle is quite impressive, the grandeur and history just oozing from the very stones, truly awe-inspiring. My first impression was one of absolute enchantment, as though I had stepped onto the stage for a dramatic costume ball, the perfect place to put on my show! You know how I love my costumes and tutus...they add that extra layer of theatrical flair to any location!

Imagine the photo: me in my bright pink tulle against a backdrop of crumbling, medieval stone. Just too lovely to contemplate. It was like being part of an elegant fairytale. I even imagined being part of a lavish costume drama series and dancing with the queen, a delightful prospect, indeed!

The day at the castle, of course, called for some extra sparkle โ€“ which meant accessorizing! Let's just say that my favourite new sparkly earrings and shimmering tiara really made the look, creating the perfect touch of royal extravagance that is so undeniably Pink Tutu Sparkles! Iโ€™m rather sure I received more than my fair share of compliments on the day. Honestly, what could be better than spreading pink tutu sparkle around the world? It's a calling, my dear readers, a mission, and I shall not falter!

Tutus on the Seafront

Later that evening, after my tea shop show and another grand change of pink-tutu-clad finery (I simply had to give the pink feathered showgirl boa a whirl) I found myself gazing out at the beautiful Hastings seafront as the sun was setting, throwing the town into an ethereal glow. It really was a spectacle. What better place than Hastings, with the dramatic coastline and the promise of tomorrow's seaside fun to wrap up this lovely day? I knew exactly how to add some Pink Tutu Sparkles magic to this charming little scene!

And so, I decided that it was time to have my very own "Pink Tutu Dance". After all, when was the last time you just threw caution to the wind and danced on the beach in a sparkly tutu under the starry night sky? Let's be honest, this was an event calling for a flamboyant performance and that, darling, is a task perfectly suited to my skillset!

The fresh air whipped through my tulle skirt as I swirled around the beach and you've simply got to picture it... the moonlight reflecting off the sparkle of my tiara...just sublime. There was nothing more that this particular pink tutu princess could have desired - a night out on the seaside with an audience of only the wind and the waves, it truly did bring this day to a magical and fitting end.

My dear readers, I truly hope my story of pink tutus and travels has brightened your day! Be sure to keep up with my daily adventures by checking my blog here at www.pink-tutu.com โ€“ and as always, feel free to reach out! Let's all join together to spread the pink tutu message of fun, positivity and self-expression. Because remember: the world needs a little bit of pink tutu sparkle, and a whole lot of YOU!

With love and sparkly twirls,

Pink Tutu Sparkles (aka Alex)
