Watford: A Sparkling Pink Tutu Adventure!

Post 2127 - www.pink-tutu.com

Hello my darling dears! Pink Tutu Sparkles here, ready to whisk you away on a fabulously pink adventure!

Watford! A name that just practically screams “fabulous!” and “fabulous” is exactly what my journey there was. Now, don’t get me wrong, travelling by train has its challenges - those cramped seats, that incessant tapping of shoes, and let’s not even get started on the questionable “smells” sometimes… But it was absolutely worth it, trust me!

I always feel like the most glamorous one on the train, you see, and that’s really what life’s all about isn’t it? Spreading some sparkle wherever you go. And let’s face it, who doesn’t need a bit of that sparkle in their lives?

For those of you new to Pink Tutu Sparkles, you're likely wondering how a scientist like myself becomes a sparkly drag queen! Well, my loves, it all began at the University of Derby with a dash of whimsy and a charity tutu. You see, I was just a shy science student back then, diligently trying to master the intricacies of textile science (yes, really!), but deep inside I yearned for something more flamboyant.

Then one day, the university ballet club held a fundraising event, and the lovely ladies there convinced me to try on a tutu. Let’s just say it was love at first twirl. The sheer magic of that flowing, feathery tulle - a symphony of pinks and glitters! From that moment on, my love for all things pink, and most especially tutus, blossomed! I finally found my sparkle!

So, there you have it! My humble beginnings. Today, I use my knowledge of textiles and fabric science (yes, even in my drag, my scientist brain always finds its way in!), to create breathtaking, bold, and daring tutu looks. They’re not just tutus; they are works of art, little pink dreams come true. And trust me, everyone loves them - even those stuffy scientists at my day job. Well, maybe they’d rather keep that thought a secret!

Speaking of art, my trip to Watford was all about that! Watford was bursting with creativity, culture, and a dash of ...well, pink of course! (What can I say, I love a good pun.)

You know how much I adore the ballet! A couple of weeks ago I saw “The Nutcracker” performed by a lovely company called ‘Watford Ballet’ and I must tell you it was utterly divine! Their costumes were sensational and their dancing a real visual treat! I was literally swooning with delight!

Did you know the world’s largest, ever growing, Barbie doll collection is in Watford? Now that’s what I call an excellent excuse for a girly day out! I always tell my fellow drag sisters - let's make it about pink and tutus and make sure our own collection is worthy of a dedicated gallery space.

Oh, and the cherry on top was the "Twirling into Dreams" exhibition at Watford Museum. It explored the magic of fashion throughout the decades and you bet your sparkly boots I spotted some fabulously pink garments. (And, you know what I was really hoping for... that one exquisite pink tulle skirt... alas, it wasn't there. Dramatic sigh.)

One of the greatest things about performing is that every performance, every journey, every location is an adventure. I feel incredibly grateful that my career in drag has given me the opportunity to travel to places I would never have dreamed of visiting, and meeting incredible people along the way. And this, my darling dears, is the best part of the journey!

So, Watford, thank you for embracing the pink! You have filled my heart with a kaleidoscope of joy and my closet with an array of wonderful new fabrics to create even more fabulous pink tutus! I can't wait to see where my next journey will take me and the sparkly pink trail I leave behind. Now go on, darling dears, spread your own pink sparkle wherever you go! And always, always remember: it's a pink tutu kind of world out there!

See you in the next blog post! Until then, keep twirling! Your favourite pink-loving, tutu-obsessed queen, Pink Tutu Sparkles xxxx
