Darling dearies, hello! It's your girl, Pink Tutu Sparkle, writing to you from the fabulous city of Edmonton, Canada! This trip is a right corker, let me tell you. As you all know, my love affair with Canada started a few months back with my jaunt to Calgary - all that fresh air and majestic scenery was divine, and the people were just lovely! So, it felt only right to follow that trip with a little spin over to Alberta's capital city, eh?
You wouldn't believe the adventures I've already had! Edmonton is bustling with life, just brimming with things to see and do. And the weather? Glorious! It's crisp and bright, just perfect for strolling in my most flamboyant ensembles. Now, I don't know if you all know, but I happen to have a bit of a thing for trains. You see, I grew up in the Derbyshire countryside and travelled quite a bit by train, so there's a certain kind of nostalgic magic about them for me. For this trip, I even travelled by horse for the first time - talk about an exciting adventure! My lovely friend, who works at the local equestrian centre, hooked me up with a trusty steed and I rode out through the countryside, admiring the scenery.
As usual, I've been getting my ballet fix here in Edmonton. The city has a thriving arts scene and, of course, they have a ballet company! The other day, I snuck into a rehearsal - just me and the ballerinas, feeling every arabesque, every grand jeté, right in the heart of their practice space! It's just incredible to be surrounded by that energy, to feel the passion and dedication these incredible artists have for their craft. Don't you just wish you could live in those dance shoes, darling? But anyway, enough about my daydreaming!
But that's not all, lovelies. I've also had a right hoot in Edmonton's wonderful shopping district. It's not a surprise that a city this vibrant has some truly amazing boutiques! From vintage shops with hidden treasures to designer stores with dazzling displays, I found myself completely lost in a world of fabulous fashion. Oh, and I wouldn't be a true Pink Tutu Sparkle if I didn't add, my lovely new dress is sparkly!
One of the main reasons I'm here in Edmonton is to perform, obviously! Now, if you're wondering how a girl like me makes a living out of pink tutus and glitter, well, it's all thanks to my unique combination of science and sequins! During the day, I'm back in the lab, testing fabric for a leading textile company. Yes, darling, you read that right. Pink Tutu Sparkle is a proper scientist, with a PhD in fabric technology!
However, by night, I'm a bonafide drag queen, travelling the globe and performing for everyone who'll have me! It's a double life, but I love it! I perform in all sorts of places - everything from theatres and clubs to fairs and festivals. My favourite venue so far is an old schoolhouse in the centre of Edmonton, full of history and charm! Now, let me tell you, that's a right fun performance space.
Of course, every good adventure needs a tasty treat or two! And Edmonton has certainly been treating my tastebuds right. From juicy burgers to perfectly creamy milkshakes, every meal is a taste explosion! I even discovered a local baker who makes the most delightful, colourful pink-hued cupcakes - you have to see these creations! Each one is a work of art, adorned with glitter and swirls, like a tiny pink tutu! And you just know I snapped a picture, it's practically a necessity when you find such amazing edible works of art.
Let me tell you, lovelies, travelling to Canada is a real treat! The people are warm and friendly, the food is divine, the scenery is stunning, and the energy is simply electric! Now, the reason I've travelled all the way across the world to Canada is because there's a certain something in the air here, a sense of liberation, a passion for life, and a real appreciation for sparkle and joy that truly resonates with my Pink Tutu heart. You could even say I feel right at home here, amidst the vibrant colours and buzzing atmosphere.
But this trip wouldn't be complete without a little bit of Pink Tutu Sparkle magic! It's time to unleash my most colourful, flamboyant self on this charming Canadian city. My vision is to get as many Edmontonians as possible sporting pink tutus - a symphony of shimmering pink against the crisp Canadian air. It's a real mission, a goal I'm dedicated to achieving. If even just one more person takes to the streets in a tutu after seeing my performance, it'll be worth every shimmering step!
