Mitcham Mayhem! (Blog Post #2168)

Oh my darlings, hold onto your feather boas because it’s time for another Pink Tutu Sparkles adventure! I’m so excited to tell you all about my recent escapade to the enchanting Mitcham, a delightful little corner of south London that stole my sparkly heart.

It all started with a phone call from the fabulous Frankie Frock, owner of the legendary Mitcham Carnival. She’d seen my performances at the Royal Ascot Fringe and asked me to grace the main stage with my twinkling presence. I wouldn’t say no to a carnival, especially when it’s in a charming town like Mitcham. This time I even snagged a train ticket for the journey. There’s something undeniably magical about travelling by rail.

As the train chugged towards London, I pulled out my latest tutu acquisition: a shimmering, iridescent number adorned with fluffy pink pom-poms and shimmering silver sequins. You wouldn’t believe how it catches the light, darling! I matched it with my go-to vintage pink sequined jacket, a pair of patent leather boots, and a bright pink floral fascinator, because let's face it, even in my casual attire, I never leave the house without a hint of pink and a touch of whimsy.

Arriving in Mitcham, I was greeted with a kaleidoscope of colours, laughter, and a delightful carnival atmosphere. Everywhere I looked, people were decked out in colourful outfits, embracing the spirit of joy and merriment.

Frankie Frock was absolutely delightful, a true force of nature in a floral print jumpsuit and a massive pink feather boa. She whisked me off to a little dressing room where I was welcomed by a gaggle of local drag queens, each as glamorous and talented as the last. The air buzzed with energy, and I couldn’t wait to join the spectacle.

And spectacle, darling, there was! As soon as I stepped onto the stage, the crowd went wild! I launched into my signature number, a hilarious medley of pop classics sprinkled with witty commentary, punctuated by spins and leaps in my gloriously pink tutu. I must have thrown out a dozen pink feathers to the adoring audience!

The Mitcham Carnival was absolutely unforgettable, and it reminded me why I love what I do. Seeing children's faces light up with wonder and joy when they catch a glimpse of my shimmering pink tutu is simply priceless. It makes all the late nights sewing and gluing sequins worth it.

But let’s not forget the fashion, darlings! The day started with a shopping spree at the Mitcham Market, where I found a little gem of a vintage shop filled with vintage fabrics and accessories. I couldn't resist buying a beautiful blush pink velvet jacket to add to my collection.

Later that evening, I treated myself to a fantastic ballet show at the fabulous Mitcham Playhouse. The dancers were breathtaking, and I must confess I shed a tear or two during the finale. There’s something deeply moving about the beauty and grace of ballet, and I wouldn't miss a performance for the world.

I left Mitcham with a heart full of love and my trusty tutu shimmering in the twilight. This was just another beautiful stop on my journey to spreading the joy and love of pink tutus around the world, and it reminds me why my life as a pink tutu-wearing drag queen is absolutely fabulous!

But darling, my journey is far from over. Stay tuned, because tomorrow I embark on another adventure – a thrilling trip to the Great British Circus, riding the world’s largest pink unicorn. Until next time, remember to embrace the pink, live your dreams, and don’t be afraid to twirl!
