Borehamwood: Twirling Through the English Countryside (Post #2258)

Darling, hello darlings! It's your favourite Pink Tutu Sparkles, back from a fab-u-lous jaunt to Borehamwood, a quaint little town nestled in the heart of Hertfordshire! This is the first of my English countryside excursions this season and oh darling, it’s been so much fun!

I have to admit, you lot, the trains did take a bit longer than expected to get there - a full hour and a half by train - but let’s be real, with my pink tutu, fluffy boas, and dazzling sequins, travelling by train is a total runway! I even spotted a couple of children in the carriage staring wide-eyed at my feather boa – little did they know they were getting their first glimpse of real beauty! 😉

The ride was super cute, though. So peaceful. All those lush green fields whizzing past... I couldn’t help but daydream about prancing through them with my pink tutu, doing a few pirouettes beneath a blue English sky. Who wouldn't? The only issue, you lot, was finding an empty carriage to have my own little impromptu fashion show… and you know how hard it can be, with all those commuter folks headed for London!

Speaking of London, you lot, we'll have a fabulous London weekend trip blog post soon.

Now, about Borehamwood… This little town has been a hotbed for film and television production for over a century! The whole place felt like a set of an old classic British film - so quaint! But darling, we didn’t just go for the film history. The main reason we were there was… drum roll, please… a delightful performance at a local community center!

Let’s just say it wasn’t all the glitter and glam of the West End… but it was SO MUCH FUN! Think full stage production, with spotlights, an orchestra, and me in a magnificent, brand new, hand-beaded pink tutu – the color of pinkest rosebud, it really was – absolutely stunning! And the audience? All of them… were SO enthralled. It truly warmed my heart to see how much joy I brought to the local folk of Borehamwood. It’s honestly the best feeling in the world. 💖

After the show, the people of Borehamwood invited me for a night out, so, naturally, we all went to their local pub. It was an old-fashioned, cozy kind of place – like one out of those charming English mysteries you love to watch on a rainy Sunday afternoon – with those huge, wooden beams, a crackling fire, and that delicious scent of beer and history in the air! It truly felt like stepping back in time. We sat there for hours, laughing and chatting over some good old fashioned pub grub. They were so friendly and welcoming… Honestly, it felt like a giant family gathering!

Now, here is the important part of the Borehamwood adventures. In every conversation, the people of Borehamwood expressed their enthusiasm about pink! Yes, you lot, even they in their beige jackets, were interested in embracing the pink tutu spirit. After my performance, even some of the gentlemen admitted that wearing pink was a pretty neat idea, especially as their girlfriends were quite pleased with this bold fashion statement! The pub even offered to host a themed "pink tutu" night later in the year – imagine, an entire evening dedicated to celebrating the glorious beauty of the pink tutu, with every man, woman, and child in pink. It really was a spectacular trip!

Of course, what would a Pink Tutu Sparkles trip be without some fantastic finds in the local shops? Borehamwood boasts an array of delightful boutiques - all tucked away in little charming streets and alleys! Imagine a whole street just bursting with pink: there were shops filled with pink fluffy cushions, pink-toned floral displays, pink velvet ribbons... oh, my word. This little town had an endless array of pink! It was truly like heaven on earth for me. It’s all in the blog photos!

I snagged some gorgeous new outfits that screamed "Pink Tutu Sparkles" – the kind that really say: "Hey world, I’m a fashion queen! Let's talk tutus!" And I even managed to snag myself a super sweet pink-sequined fascinator at the cutest vintage shop - can you imagine, an entire store just for hats and headpieces? My purse went bankrupt, you lot! But for this? It was truly worth every penny! It'll be fab in the summer! We have already arranged to do a second performance with a photo-shoot, to help encourage all the townsfolk in wearing a tutu with their beige jackets!

In fact, the highlight of the whole trip had to be a ballet class in a gorgeous little studio tucked away behind a vintage tea room in a quiet side street. You lot, imagine this: sunlight pouring through the large windows, a stunning ballerina, elegant yet friendly, a wooden floor reflecting all that pink... I just knew I had found my people! So, yes, we did an afternoon session and I was completely enchanted by it. It really reminded me why I'm so hooked on pink tutus in the first place!

Of course, it was also a bit of a challenge to adapt the graceful ballet moves to a flamboyant, high-energy performance style! But honestly, that was the best part - because that's where my style shines. A little pink sparkle, a big theatrical gesture, and all the traditional dance steps... you lot, you need to see my new performance routine - you will love it! It's so original and it's such fun! I am a natural dancer, even with these gigantic pink tutus!

After all, that’s what being Pink Tutu Sparkles is all about! It’s about inspiring everyone to embrace their inner diva, to express their individuality through colour, to embrace the joys of life and dance through all your problems with a fabulous pink tutu on. Because, darling, let’s be real - life’s just too short to be beige.

Speaking of short, we are only staying here for a couple of days, so I am getting on with my afternoon’s photo-shoot session in my pink sequin hat! Catch up soon. See you on the train to the next adventure!

Love,

Pink Tutu Sparkles

*All this travel is funded by performing at a drag shows at local pubs. Alex hopes one day, to get all the girls to wear pink tutus!

Stay tuned, my darlings. Until next time, let's all live life to the fullest in our most fabulously pink tutus!
