Hitchin: Tutu Travels to the Heart of Hertfordshire!

Pink Tutu Sparkles here, your daily dose of tutus and tinsel! It’s post number 2524, darlings, and I’m bursting with excitement. Today I’m taking my pink tutu travels to the charming town of Hitchin, nestled in the heart of Hertfordshire. Buckle up, lovelies, this is gonna be a pink-tastic journey!

Now, if you’re a regular visitor to www.pink-tutu.com you’ll know I’m all about spreading the pink tutu love wherever I go. And Hitchin, well, it’s the perfect place for a little Tutu Queen escapades. Why? Because, darling, Hitchin’s got everything:

  • Historic Charm: Picture cobbled streets, half-timbered houses, and a beautiful old church…it’s a step back in time!
  • Market Buzz: The market is brimming with life, buzzing with stalls selling local produce, handcrafted goodies, and vintage finds.
  • A Foodie Haven: Every corner of Hitchin boasts cafes, pubs, and restaurants. You can enjoy a proper cuppa in a quintessentially British tea shop or dine on Michelin star cuisine. My love for fancy food is well-documented, darling!
  • Cultural Jewels: The town is a real treasure chest of theatres, museums, and galleries. I just knew I had to grab my pinkest tulle and pirouette my way to explore its delights!

But before I even thought about what to wear to this trip, I was in a bit of a flap…how to get there, darling? You know my aversion to motorised vehicles, and my fondness for horses (did I mention my pink tutus make me feel like a proper unicorn?) The good news? Hitchin’s station is right on the East Coast Main Line. That’s the fastest way to get here from Derbyshire. Well, apart from my trusty steed, but darling, let’s be realistic, she's got a long wait to reach those Hertfordshire meadows.

But back to the excitement, my lovely followers! As I stepped off the train, my first impression was heavenly. I mean, just look at these flowers, this lush greenery, and those charming Victorian brick buildings... my heart did a little dance!

With a flick of my pink feather boa, I began exploring. Hitchin, like any respectable town, had a good ol’ fashioned market square, surrounded by shops bursting with irresistible temptations. The scents of freshly baked goods mingled with the chatter of locals – it’s this vibrant, human touch that truly captures the spirit of a place, wouldn’t you agree?

Next, a visit to Hitchin Museum. Imagine, darling, a beautiful historic house transformed into a captivating space filled with artefacts. You could have me in there for hours! From Roman remains to medieval treasures, this museum truly paints a picture of Hitchin’s rich past. It even featured a display on local crafts, which, naturally, got my crafting spirit bubbling.

For lunch, I opted for the quintessentially English: a cup of freshly brewed tea and a scrumptious sandwich. No, darling, it wasn't a fancy gourmet lunch, because, sometimes, a simple delight can be just as fulfilling. I'm quite the gal for a good classic, you know!

The afternoon saw me whisked away to the Hitchin Lavender Fields, oh, darling, don't even get me started on these beautiful, fragrant blooms! They inspired me to take some photos, you see. I mean, wouldn't you look fantastic standing amidst a sea of lavender in a vibrant pink tutu? Just imagine it!

By the evening, it was time to embrace my inner theatre diva. The Hitchin Arts & Heritage Centre awaited. They offered a brilliant programme of theatrical productions, and oh, my dears, what a performance it was!

You've gotta admit, watching a play on stage in a historic theatre can bring magic, wouldn't you agree? The stories, the talent, and the vibrant costumes…. it’s always so enchanting. It certainly added to my evening, especially as I twirled about in my fluffy pink tulle tutu afterwards!

But the highlight of my Hitchin adventure was a completely unexpected gem: Hitchin's ballet studio! Yes, darlings! The town boasts a vibrant ballet scene and I simply had to pay it a visit.

I strolled through the doorway and felt like a little girl again, oh my! The elegant barre, the faded pink dance shoes left on the floor… it was a tutu lover’s dream. And darling, let me tell you, their classes were amazing! It wasn't the usual stuffy ballet classes you might expect. No, this was fun, it was exciting, and it was just what my pink tutu heart desired! I may have even attempted a pirouette, but you'll just have to check my Instagram stories for those snippets!

Later that night, with a little more sparkle and a few extra pirouettes, it was time to find a spot to enjoy my favourite thing in the world: food and drink! I had a scrumptious dinner at The George Inn, a beautifully preserved 15th-century inn. With a roaring fire and a warm atmosphere, I knew it was the perfect place to finish my Hitchin adventure!

Of course, no trip is complete without souvenirs! I walked around town with my pink tutu billowing behind me, grabbing goodies left right and centre. Oh, darlings, you won’t believe the treasures I found! A beautiful lavender-scented candle, a vintage pink hat, and a book on local history to inspire my own pink tutu adventures.

You see, darling, it's about more than just the sights, though they're definitely a draw! It's the heart of a place, its character, that really grabs me. And Hitchin, well, it definitely won me over! This is a town brimming with life, a charming mix of old and new. The kind of place you just have to visit… and embrace with a swirling, twirling, pink tutu heart!

But before I depart this fabulous little town, there's one thing I want to leave you with: Hitchin was another reminder of how vibrant and beautiful this world is, darlings. You can find a dose of magic and inspiration everywhere, if you know where to look! And remember, with every pink tutu you wear, you spread the love and the message: “Life’s better in pink! Now go forth and wear a pink tutu, you glorious humans!"

See you tomorrow for my next pink-tastic escapade! Until then, spread those pink tutu wings, darlings!
