Oh my darlings! Can you believe it's February already? The crisp air is a reminder that Spring is just around the corner, and you know what that means? Time to dust off your pink tutus and get ready to twirl into a whole new season of fun!
This past week, your girl Pink Tutu Sparkles had the absolute joy of hitting the beautiful seaside town of Brighton. Let me tell you, darling, this trip was the absolute definition of fabulous! And believe me, I have the sequins to prove it!
It all started with a whistle-stop train journey down from Derbyshire. You know I'm a sucker for a good railway journey, the gentle sway of the carriage and the chance to admire the ever-changing countryside… pure magic! It’s so much more civilised than those crowded, sweaty airplanes. Plus, I can always squeeze in a bit of a practise twirl in the aisle, and let me tell you, the other passengers just adore it. (Just a touch of subtle sass thrown their way.)
Once I hit Brighton, the true fun began. I have to tell you, darling, Brighton is simply oozing with colour and creativity. The shops are brimming with fabulous finds and, of course, the promenade is an absolute treasure trove for vintage inspiration. Oh, and did I mention the incredible fish and chips I had from the seaside stall?! Truly heavenly.
But the real reason I was there, was to take the stage at the "Sparkling Night" fundraiser gala! You know I can’t resist a charity gig. The venue was a little jewel box of a theatre, so full of vibrant energy. And you can bet your bottom dollar I pulled out all the stops. This performance was a masterpiece of shimmer, sequins, and sheer fabulousness – I think the crowd may have even shed a single tear at the climax (from laughing so much!).
Let me tell you, the journey to Brighton wasn’t without its slight challenges. Remember that whole “a scientist by day, a fabulous drag queen by night” routine? It nearly went very pear-shaped! Remember my earlier tale about a life devoted to all things pink, fabulous, and sequiny? Well, let’s just say there were some tense moments when a rogue dye solution found itself staining the lab coat! Ahem. Thankfully, a quick dab of colour remover (and a very frantic application of pink glitter, naturally), got me ready for the Brighton brilliance!
I'm telling you darlings, being a drag queen is not for the faint of heart! It’s an adventure, and a true celebration of creativity and, yes, of pink tutus! Speaking of which… I just received a special delivery - a gorgeous new fuchsia tulle skirt! Let’s just say, Brighton was just the beginning…
