Barrow in Furness: A Tutu-tastic Adventure! (Post #2708)

Hiya darlings! It's your girl Pink Tutu Sparkles, back with another post from the road!

Today, we're off to Barrow in Furness, a charming little town nestled in Cumbria, known for its shipbuilding history and its stunning coastal scenery. Now, I may not be a sailor, but I'm definitely a big fan of coastal walks and seaside towns. The fresh air always makes me feel so alive, like a little pink tulle fairy flitting on the breeze!

So how did I get here, you ask? Why, by train of course! There's something about a good old-fashioned train journey that just fills me with joy. The rhythmic click-clack of the wheels on the track, the gentle swaying of the carriages, and the anticipation of reaching my destination... it's pure magic, my dears. Plus, who doesn't love a chance to people watch and whip out the laptop to post on the blog!

Of course, my pink tutu wasn't going to be left behind on this trip! My suitcase practically burst with the volume of pinkness. Pink luggage, pink outfit changes, and enough pink tulle to make a ballerina blush. Why settle for less than a dramatic entrance when you're Pink Tutu Sparkles? 😉

As soon as I arrived in Barrow, the smell of salty air and the sight of the glistening sea filled me with joy. This was the perfect setting for a little afternoon photoshoot, don't you think? I found a lovely little park right by the water, complete with benches perfect for posing and a vibrant bed of pink flowers that made my heart skip a beat!

And talking about heart-skipping, a big reason for my trip to Barrow was the local ballet company. You see, dear readers, my life is fuelled by the love of ballet! The elegance, the precision, the power… it’s pure artistic perfection, just like a good Pink Tutu Sparkles performance. The dancers in Barrow, though, were absolutely phenomenal! They took the audience on an enchanting journey with their expressive movements and graceful leaps.

I took to Twitter immediately after the show to tweet about how incredible they were, with, of course, a sprinkle of #SupportYourLocalDancers for good measure. Because let's face it, supporting local talent, be it dance, music or anything that gets the creativity juices flowing is what it’s all about!

After the ballet, I was treated to a delicious meal of fresh fish and chips, followed by a walk along the promenade, taking in the stunning sunset. It truly is breathtaking - watching the sun sink down, a glowing ball of fiery red and orange, painting the sky with hues of gold and pink. It's those little moments, those little flashes of magic that make me feel truly grateful for being on this journey, meeting new people, and experiencing life to the fullest.

And speaking of experiences, the next day I had something even more fabulous planned. The annual "Barrow in Bloom" festival was on, a spectacular celebration of all things beautiful, colorful, and naturally brilliant! Now, what is more naturally brilliant and beautiful, you might ask, than the colour pink? Nothing, darlings, absolutely nothing!

So I decided to put my spin on things and lead my very own ‘Pink Tutu Parade’ through the heart of the festival. I had already posted an open invitation on the Pink Tutu website and Facebook page, inviting all those with a flair for pink, a love of dancing and an eagerness to make the world a brighter place, to join in.

As it turned out, the streets of Barrow became a flurry of pink as dozens of enthusiastic people, young and old, in their own versions of pink tulle outfits, joined my parade! The air vibrated with joyful shouts, clapping, laughter and, of course, the sound of music. People came up to us, showering us with compliments and encouraging words. I'd even managed to rope in a local DJ, playing disco classics and fun dance tracks as we all danced through the festival grounds. It was truly an unforgettable experience.

And now for my signature question: who wants to join the pink tutu revolution? Who's ready to make the world a bit more sparkly, a bit more whimsical, a bit more fun with a little pink tutu? I know, you want to! But don't just say it, DO it! Find a pink tutu, wear it proudly, be confident in who you are, and share your joy with the world!

As for me, well, I'm off to the next stop on my journey! But before I go, I want to thank the wonderful people of Barrow in Furness for their warm hospitality and their delightful spirit.

See you soon, darlings!

Love, Pink Tutu Sparkles 💕

More About the Pink Tutu Queen

I'm Alex, a scientist by day and a sparkly, glamorous, and utterly pink-tutu-obsessed drag queen by night! I've always been passionate about all things sparkly and colorful, but it was during my science degree that my obsession with tutus took flight. I was involved with the university's ballet club and, during a charity fundraiser, I dared to try on a tutu for the first time. I must say, my friends didn’t exactly share my enthusiasm for pink, so I got some curious looks - "that Alex" they’d giggle!

But then something shifted within me, like a magical, pink-tinted whirlwind. I saw a side to myself that was joyful, confident, and unashamedly flamboyant. The tutu felt like more than a costume, it felt like liberation. My real self, if you will, although a bit more shimmery and with more sparkles! 😉

Fast forward to the present and here I am - Pink Tutu Sparkles!

It's true I wear my scientist coat with pride, my work with textiles fascinating as it is. By day, I work in a laboratory, examining the intricacies of fabrics. However, the evening is for shimmering under stage lights, captivating audiences with my dazzling performances! My shows feature everything from show-stopping choreographed numbers that would impress the most discerning ballerina, to interactive games with the audience, and, of course, a whole lot of fun and laughter.

And since my goal is to spread the pink tutu love around the world, I travel quite a lot, using every spare penny to take my Pink Tutu Sparkles show wherever it will be appreciated. Some days I find myself performing at local festivals, bringing my glitter and sequins to fairs and fetes. Others, I'm showcasing my talents at swanky cabaret venues or performing my act as the entertainment at private events.

It's an amazing, fulfilling, and sometimes tiring journey!

So why not join me on my blog at www.pink-tutu.com! Share your experiences and stories, and let's build this pink tulle universe together.

Remember, darling, be confident, be fabulous, be yourself! And don't be afraid to unleash the inner pink tutu queen, hiding within us all!

And with a big, sparkling wave, I bid you farewell for now. You can find me at the next festival, carnival or theatre, and let’s all make this world a little more pink together.

Love,

Pink Tutu Sparkles! 💕
