Denton Diaries: TutuQueen Takes the Stage! (Blog Post #2772)

Hello my darlings! TutuQueen here, and oh my, what a whirlwind of pink this week has been! I've finally touched down in the fabulous Denton, Texas, and let me tell you, it's a true pink paradise! As a fellow drag artist once said, “When you feel the glitter, let your fabulousness fly!” and that's exactly what I'm doing, all across Denton!

But before we get to the glitz and glamour of my performance tonight, let’s have a little catch-up, shall we?

A Trip by Train & A Whiff of Home

My journey to Denton was a right charmer. I boarded the train in Derbyshire, leaving the familiar green hills behind. I packed a full suitcase of my most fabulous pink outfits, of course, with an extra little compartment for my trusty feather boa and sparkly crown. It's all about making an entrance, isn't it?

The train ride was filled with chatter and laughter. There was a little girl sitting near me who kept gazing at my tutu, giggling every time it swished as I walked down the carriage. Such innocence, don't you think? And that's what my work is all about: inspiring everyone, big or small, to embrace the fun and embrace the pink!

My Denton Début

Speaking of pink, you wouldn’t believe the amount of pink I’ve spotted in Denton already! From the pastel-hued Victorian houses lining the streets to the vibrant pink sunsets, it’s like the town is saying "Welcome, TutuQueen!” And believe me, my darlings, I’m not complaining. It’s all very lovely, and it makes me think, could Denton be the home of my next adventure? Time will tell.

But first, I’m off to The Bluebird Theatre! This vintage gem, all twinkling lights and plush velvet, is just the perfect setting for my performance. My act is full of theatricality, full of pink, and a whole lotta glitter!

Oh, I'm so excited to get to show Denton just what TutuQueen's made of! Expect everything from elegant ballet poses to energetic dance numbers, sprinkled with a generous dose of my signature sass. This is a true, “Pink-tastic!” show, a must-see for any true lover of sequins and fun.

The Journey From Scientist to TutuQueen

But before I dazzle you all with my Denton debut, allow me to introduce myself for those who may not know my tale. I'm Alex, and during the day, I am a scientist in a Derbyshire lab. I might work with fabric testing, analyzing the wear and tear of fabrics and threads, but believe me, it’s not nearly as sparkly as my life in the limelight.

I was a bit of a late bloomer when it came to my true passion. You see, it all began during my university days. Studying Science was a fun, engaging and stimulating world but one in which a bright pink tutu may not be the norm. However, as a member of the university's ballet club, it all changed when I stepped into a tutu for the first time. For a university charity fundraiser, I decided to don the pink garb. As I swished across the stage, I was instantly taken by the feeling, the confidence, the joyous freedom. In that moment, my destiny was clear! Pink tutu? Yes please.

So I embraced my inner TutuQueen and embarked on this extraordinary adventure. You see, as TutuQueen, I get to share my love of all things pink, inspire others to embrace their uniqueness, and let’s face it, wear the most incredible, flamboyant costumes in all the land. It’s truly a life made of feathers, tulle, and lots of glittery sparkle!

Travel and Inspiration: TutuQueen's Big World

There’s something so exhilarating about seeing the world through a tutu. When it comes to travelling, I’m a girl who prefers the magic of the rails, especially for my trans-American journeys. I absolutely adore travelling by train. Watching the world rush past the window as I sip a cup of tea, it just makes for such a dreamy and exciting journey! Oh, but when the journey takes me to the prairies, sometimes the journey demands a four-legged friend! That's where my trusty steed comes in - a majestic brown mare named "Belle.” She is a wonderful companion who always adds a touch of elegance and excitement to my adventures.

Of course, my travels wouldn’t be complete without the magic of ballet. Whenever I'm in a new town, I make it my mission to catch a ballet show! The graceful movement, the stories woven into each step, the captivating costumes. Nothing else quite compares. But that’s not all, I love to learn! So I make sure to find a local ballet class or two, adding a few pirouettes to my life. You know what they say - the best way to embrace your inner ballerina is by actually being a ballerina.

Spread the Tutu Love

One thing I always find in my travels is an immense amount of joy in getting people to wear a pink tutu, even if it's just for a minute. And my lovely friends, the reactions are always the best! From bashful smiles to ecstatic screams, every time a tutu touches their life, I see them embracing the confidence and the fun that only a pink tutu can provide. And you know what? That is a feeling that is totally contagious.

A Little Bit of Texas Sunshine

So, as I get ready to take Denton by storm, I can’t help but smile. It’s these magical moments of connection that make my journeys so special. Now if you'll excuse me, darling, I've got a show to get to. But be sure to follow my blog for all the juicy details on my Texas escapade. I'm already planning to visit the amazing "Pinkalicious" themed park while I'm in Denton. Oh, to be surrounded by all things pink - heaven!

Don’t forget to check in tomorrow for an exciting look behind the scenes of the Bluebird Theatre, and who knows, maybe I'll even spill a few secrets about the costumes and makeup that make me truly shine. Until then, stay pink, and never forget to let your fabulousness fly!

Xoxo,

TutuQueen!
