Newtownards, Oh My!

Darlings! I'm so excited to be writing this from Newtownards, Northern Ireland, my poshest pals! What a fabulous weekend it's been! You see, the good thing about living the glamorous life of a touring drag artist is the chance to visit the most stunning places – even if I'm sometimes only there for a whirlwind weekend. And Newtownards, oh Newtownards, you truly are a gem!

But first, let me tell you all about my fabulous journey.

Travelling in style is paramount to my mission to make the world sparkle and embrace all things pink! While some of you might opt for the speed of a car, I confess, I love the rhythmic lull of a train journey. You know, the chugging rhythm, the changing scenery… It really gets my creative juices flowing and makes for some seriously spectacular outfit brainstorming. For my recent journey, I chose a delicate shade of rose pink tutu (courtesy of the lovely boutique I found in Derby) and, oh darling, it practically sang on the train!

(And let’s be real, everyone looks a little more glamorous when they are sitting across from a sparkling pink tutu and tiara on a train ride!)

Newtownards itself was a real dream. Think cobbled streets lined with vibrant boutiques filled with clothes you'd just die for. I discovered an absolutely divine pink silk shawl that perfectly complements my newest rainbow tutu – think, the kind of thing you would imagine the ballerina in “Sleeping Beauty” would wear while wandering through a enchanted forest! And I even picked up the cutest little pair of pink glittery ballet shoes for myself from the lovely local dance shop.

As soon as I arrived in Newtownards, I felt a sense of anticipation. A kind gentleman (and trust me, this guy could make a pink tutu look divine, darling) informed me that my show tonight at the ‘Glitter and Glamour' festival would be "packed". Honestly, you wouldn't catch me in anything but a stunning pink tulle gown, paired with a pair of dazzling stilettos, all sparkling under the spotlight.

You see, it's not just about the sparkles, honey! It's about a little magic. It's about transforming ordinary moments into spectacular memories! I like to think my shows help people forget their worries for a few hours. They leave my stage a little more pink and a little more sparkly, and I think that's magic, wouldn't you agree?

Speaking of magic, before my show in Newtownards, I treated myself to an enchanting afternoon of ballet at the local theater! Now, I’m not sure if it's just me, but I find ballet inspiring no matter where you go – I’m absolutely mad about everything from classical ballets like "Swan Lake" to the gorgeous modern ballets and innovative choreographies you find in new performances.

I found myself absolutely enthralled with a beautiful rendition of Tchaikovsky’s “The Nutcracker” – all graceful leaps, elegant pirouettes, and a stage full of perfectly choreographed ballet magic!

And it was absolutely lovely! Just think of the possibilities!

Speaking of possibilities, did you know my love for pink tutus started in the lab of all places! While studying science (Yes, this girl is a science whizz!), I joined the university ballet club! I went on a whim to a fundraising event, and let's just say that the charity auction ended with a whole new life in pink tutus for yours truly! It’s all a whirlwind!

So, what does a pink-tutu-loving science whizz do after a ballet performance, before her big show at the ‘Glitter and Glamour’ Festival in a brand new sparkling pink dress? She has dinner, darlings!

That evening I had a lovely little supper at one of the many restaurants that make Newtownards the lovely, quaint, but oh-so-fashionable, town it is. I have to confess that I indulged in the best fish and chips – truly, it was something to write home about! What better fuel to charge me up for my show later tonight?

By now, my "Glitter and Glamour' Festival show is in full swing! You better believe I’m ready to paint the town pink with my dazzling pink feather boas, sparkly pink platforms, and an extra touch of sparkle, just because it’s Newtownards and we’re celebrating, darling!

I hope my show brought as much magic to Newtownards as Newtownards brought to my heart. I was met with such warm smiles and welcoming faces. They’re truly lucky to have a drag queen who's always looking for new, fun ways to encourage everyone to join me on my fabulous pink tutu mission!

So, how can you help?

I encourage you all to start by picking up a pink tutu - it’s all about spreading positive energy and spreading joy and glitter! After all, as I always say: "A little sparkle in life goes a long way!"

Keep your eyes peeled on www.pink-tutu.com for my next adventure. You can trust that I'll be back with more fabulous finds, delicious food, enchanting shows, and a healthy dose of sparkle! I'm off to see what adventures await – after all, the world's waiting for a sprinkle of pink. See you next time, loves!
