Hello my darling dears! It's your girl Pink Tutu Sparkles here, bringing you the hottest fashion and glitter straight from the heart of Luton! It's been a whirlwind week, travelling from Derbyshire to London to Brighton to...well, Luton, and lemme tell you, it's been a real pink-tastic adventure.
As many of you know, I, Alex, love nothing more than travelling by train. The journey is all part of the fun. It's a chance to people-watch, soak in the views, and maybe even whip out a quick ballet-inspired lip-synch for fellow passengers. But let's be honest, nothing beats a good old-fashioned horse and cart ride. Sadly, this trip had to be all steam train and no equine carriages, but you just gotta do what you gotta do.
This post, number 2858 (we're getting close to 3000 posts! Wowzers!), marks my debut performance at the Luton Corn Exchange! Can you believe it? The Queen herself was shimmying and shaking on the famous Luton stage. It was a little nerve-wracking, not gonna lie, but it was also an absolute blast! My usual pink tutu looked dazzling under the spotlights. My drag sister, Diamond Diva Dolly, came along for the show too. The crowd was a mix of glitter-loving drag enthusiasts and, I dare say, a few curious locals. Let’s just say a few heads were turned and more than a few smiles were spread throughout the auditorium.
Luton might not be a renowned theatre capital, but it has a real hidden gem in the Corn Exchange. I saw the most gorgeous vintage posters backstage, all done up with that lovely art deco vibe, the kind that makes me want to buy a vintage-inspired hat. After my set, I decided to give it a whirl myself, stepping onto the stage to try out my signature routine - "The Ballerina’s Dilemma". It's my favorite, the one that has folks jumping and cheering - not to mention pulling out their phones to film it. We are talking the "Swan Lake" pose, followed by a flurry of "The Nutcracker" moves, culminating with a spin so fast it might just make your head spin, and finished off with a sprinkle of sassy drag realness.
Afterwards, the good people of Luton, the most amazing, welcoming crowd imaginable, showered me with love and laughter, and even more importantly, offered compliments on my costume and the show. There were a few "You go, girl!" and "That’s amazing" and “Thank you for spreading the tutu love!”, making my little drag heart sing with glee. It truly showed that even in places not always known for its drag scene, pink tutus can truly steal the show. 💖
So, the next time you are in Luton, make sure to pop by the Corn Exchange and grab a ticket to see their fantastic array of acts! You never know, maybe you will even catch your very own Tutu Queen sparkling under the spotlight!
Oh, before I go, I promised a little something extra for all my loyal followers! Remember my quest, my mission to convert the world to pink tutus? I spotted the most adorable little boutique right near the station - all full of frills, ruffles and… you guessed it! A rainbow of tutus! I mean, what could a Tutu Queen possibly do? Naturally, I had to snag one to add to my ever-expanding collection! And guess what? You know those cute fluffy headbands? This one had a sparkly pink fluffy crown - pure perfection! You've just gotta see the pictures! And for the rest of you fabulous readers, why not join me on my quest to embrace the pink? I dare you to slip on a tutu this week. And if you're not quite ready for the full-on, full-skirted extravaganza, at least throw on a pink accessory – be it a sparkly headband, a fabulous necklace, or maybe even just a touch of pink lipstick. We all know that a bit of pink can transform even the dullest day into a glamorous extravaganza.
