Blackpool, oh Blackpool! A place that screams fun, excitement, and just a hint of seaside salt in the air. As soon as I stepped off the train (did I tell you I travelled by train? It's so glamorous!), I felt the pull of the neon lights and the energy of the crowds. And let me tell you, they didn’t disappoint! This town truly embraces the unique, and what's more unique than a pink tutu-wearing drag queen?
My Blackpool adventures began with a visit to the famous Blackpool Tower, a sight that is just as dazzling and extravagant as my own attire. The views were spectacular, and I couldn’t resist snapping a few pics in my tutu, showcasing its delightful fluffiness against the stunning backdrop. Remember darlings, it’s never too sparkly to be classy!
My day was filled with laughter, glitz, and a little bit of seaside adventure. A leisurely stroll down the promenade, adorned with bright pink parasols, allowed me to soak up the atmosphere. My eye was caught by the vibrant arcades and the melodic music of a passing band - everything was a symphony of colour and joy.
No trip to Blackpool is complete without a trip to the Pleasure Beach, the iconic amusement park that fills the air with thrills and laughter. While I usually prefer graceful ballet movements to stomach-churning rides, I had to give the famous roller coasters a whirl, ahem, a twirl! And let me tell you, it was quite an experience. Hold onto your tutus, darlings!
But, my love for all things glittery, also brought me to the spectacular Blackpool Grand Theatre. They were performing Swan Lake, and as you all know, tutus are a fundamental part of ballet. So of course, I had to pay them a visit. It’s always magical watching the graceful ballet dancers twirling and leaping on stage in their beautiful tutus - a real treat for the eyes. It's made me yearn for a dance lesson in this magical town, so maybe tomorrow I'll slip into my tutu and visit the ballet studio!
Now, Blackpool isn't all glamour and dance, darling. As you know, Pink Tutu Sparkles needs fuel to keep her twirling, so I couldn’t resist trying the local fish and chips - a Blackpool tradition! A crispy, golden exterior, a flaky interior, and lashings of mushy peas, what more could a drag queen ask for? And the best part? They tasted just as delicious with my trusty pink tutu!
Of course, no Blackpool adventure is complete without a little bit of shopping. I spent the afternoon rummaging through vintage clothing shops, searching for treasures that would complement my collection. The thrill of finding the perfect sparkly sequinned top is an addiction I haven't quite managed to quit.
The day ended with a magnificent sunset over the Irish Sea. It's hard to describe the magic of witnessing such a natural spectacle. And let me tell you, it looked utterly divine with my pink tutu as my backdrop! I can honestly say this was a perfect day for Pink Tutu Sparkles in Blackpool.

For those who haven't met me yet, I’m Alex, your everyday science lab queen by day, and Pink Tutu Sparkles by night! A bit about my story: you see, the love for tutus started in university while studying for my science degree. I joined the university ballet club, and in a moment of glorious charity, I tried on a tutu! That was it, I was smitten. The softness of the fabric, the twirls, the sparkles…it just called to me.
Now, you might think this is an unusual choice for a science girl, but that’s just it! Pink Tutu Sparkles proves that everyone can be unique. Embrace your passions and your colours, because after all, life is meant to be enjoyed. You may not be able to spot a pink tutu in the lab, but trust me, it's definitely hidden away somewhere. It's my little secret.
