Rugby: A Pink Tutu Dream Come True!

Post Number 2928

Oh darlings! The train journey to Rugby was absolutely delightful, all aboard the 12:05 from London Euston, I felt like I was starring in a fairytale! I was even in first class, complete with a comfy, velvet armchair, my very own tea trolley and enough cake to sink a ship! I even managed to convince the gentleman across the aisle that his tea should absolutely be pink (he wasn't too convinced, but did have a delightful slice of Victoria sponge cake with pink icing and buttercream frosting, which is progress, I'm sure you'll agree!)

Speaking of pink, my latest tutu arrived from Paris earlier in the week and it is the absolute dream! It's a shade of flamingo pink, you see, not quite the standard bubblegum pink, but with delicate gold embroidered flowers, it's simply breathtaking! The sheer tulle has so much sparkle, like it's raining glitter and stars - it's giving fairy princess chic with a dash of starry nights! It's the perfect piece for a grand finale at Rugby. I’ve worn it with a fitted pink, sequinned jumpsuit and some seriously sky-high gold heels – ready for some serious dancing and glitter-bombing the audience.

Why am I in Rugby? Well darlings, let's talk fabulousness! I'm here for a full weekend of pink tutu-ful fun, kicking things off with a fabulous show for the Rugby Ballet Society’s annual gala. The grand ballroom is decorated with so many flowers and pink balloons – just like I imagine a ball scene from a classic fairytale movie! Oh, the things that my heart dreams up for us, Pink Tutu Sparkles and my lovely pink-tutu-loving fanbase.

Speaking of pink tutu dreams I’m taking a masterclass in pointe work at Rugby Arts Centre on Sunday – yes, you read that right! I’m getting back in those pointe shoes (don’t worry, they’re sparkling hot pink!) to learn from a truly incredible instructor! Let's just say I am very much hoping to see the tutus on pointe - imagine the impact on the audience! It is all so magical, but as I mentioned earlier - this is just the start! There’s a street performance planned with all of the local talent, which is a little daunting, but of course, we’re going to turn it up to eleven! Imagine my pink tutu and high-kicking, shimmying, and dazzling the crowd! I already can’t wait to add this incredible weekend to my fabulous Pink Tutu adventures log!

This trip has taken a few turns to get to! You see darlings, originally I had booked a horse and carriage for my trip to Rugby – and wouldn't it have been lovely, a carriage with frilly white curtains and fluffy pink pillows - the perfect introduction to a weekend of tutus and fairy tales! It truly would have been divine!

Sadly, the trip was postponed - but the delay meant that I found an adorable little vintage shop nestled right off Oxford Street, where I discovered the perfect dress! It’s a floral, blush-pink silk number with delicate lace at the neckline. Imagine - I’m absolutely going to pair it with the flamingo pink tutu – my heart is soaring! But never fear, a little detours are just another day for Pink Tutu Sparkles – it wouldn’t be an adventure without the twists and turns! The show will absolutely go on, in grand style.

I am a firm believer in the power of a good, glittery, positive energy! Especially a sparkly pink tutu and a sprinkle of glitter (we have a spare pink feather boa to go with that!), there’s nothing quite like a showstopping, rainbow-coloured smile and a bit of sparkly magic to make any day spectacular, you know!

Did I mention the Pink Tutu Project yet? Let me tell you, darlings, I've got a wonderful mission: to get every single one of you rocking a fabulous pink tutu! And why not? It’s a universal symbol of joy, fun, and fabulousness – all rolled into one, twirling and sparkly bundle!

You see, my life took a fabulous turn while I was doing a chemistry degree, stuck in a lab full of bubbling liquids and fuming substances. And while I had to wear a standard, uninspired white coat in the lab, I still found my escape! There was a little ballet club at the university, you know – I would go along and, you wouldn’t believe it, one day they organised a fundraising event! To my complete and utter surprise, the students at the university put together an actual fashion show, the whole deal! It was called, "A Fashionable Night for Science," or something like that, and they asked for donations of weird and wonderful things.

So imagine my excitement, you’ve probably gathered my favourite colour is pink, so of course, I grabbed every pink item I had – everything! - to donate. Now you're wondering - how do you make your way onto a fashion show catwalk?! Simple! You wear a pink tutu, of course!

But seriously, that's how my world truly changed, darlings. I slipped into a pink tutu for the first time that night – and a beautiful feeling took over, like it was always meant to be! I could see how it made people happy - my joy turned into a big, glittering smile – and the room seemed to erupt in laughter. From that night, I've been encouraging everyone I meet to step into a fabulous, pink-tutu-filled world – to find the sunshine inside and to just have fun, let loose and sprinkle some magic everywhere they go! And in a weird sort of way - the world seemed to take notice! My little science lab adventures made way for the life of Pink Tutu Sparkles, bringing joy, magic and most definitely, pink tutus, to the whole world, one twinkle at a time!

Right now I am still a little confused as to how I make the world understand the brilliance of my vision, and how I could be so excited to share the incredible power of the tutu – to encourage, inspire and to spread glitter everywhere we go! So for now, I am going to spread the joy by writing blog posts – that’s how I get to spread the word, my way of making people see the world in a sparkling, vibrant new way, as long as they are ready to see. Every post is another magical moment - like the time I found myself dressed in a dazzling pink tutu, on a beautiful horse carriage, riding around Hyde Park – with a small army of fluffy pomeranians, following behind, of course! The whole event was like something out of a fairytale - a little more fabulous and, obviously, sparklier!

I am still waiting to learn the truth, how I've got such an immense love of a pink, twirling, glittery, magical outfit (which also is pretty convenient to throw on for a quick adventure) – but I'll let you in on a little secret, I have a sneaking suspicion, it’s not just the pink, or the twirls!

I know my love for the pink tutu comes from a much deeper place. It's about joy, the kind that fills your heart when you do something incredible - like that day when the whole lab took on a pink hue, because we had a glitter-bomb accident! (I am not naming names, but let's just say that there was a big, sparkly, pink tutu involved, right?).

It’s about embracing that joy, no matter where it comes from - a smile from a little girl, who happens to be wearing a sparkly unicorn horn (and a sparkly, pink tutu), a dazzling rainbow, that turns your world pink - just like when I discovered the best cake shop in Notting Hill - an absolute wonderland of deliciousness and fluffy pink frosting! It’s about embracing the crazy, silly and outrageous parts of yourself, allowing them to flourish and dance like a pink tutu! The kind of joy that makes you want to laugh, sing and dance to your own tune – that's what pink tutus are all about!

Oh darlings, you know me and I am a firm believer in the power of magic - and the most magical of things comes in pink!

So join me! Take that leap!

Wear the pink!
Spin around!
Sparkle!

And never stop chasing your dreams, in all of their colourful, fabulous, glitter-covered glory!
