Oh my darlings, how are you today? It's your girl, Pink Tutu Sparkles, back with another blog post, this time straight from the charming town of Sutton in Ashfield! Can you believe it, another day, another dazzling destination, and me, living my best, twirling, pink-tutu-clad life. 😉
This past week has been absolutely magical! You know me, I love a good adventure, and this trip had all the elements I adore: sparkly stages, cheering crowds, and of course, some fabulous new fashion finds! My travels, my dears, are funded by the sheer magic of my drag artistry, so I've been flitting from one performance to the next, leaving a trail of pink tutu glitter and sunshine in my wake.
Honestly, I've been feeling rather fabulous this week! It's so thrilling to share my love of all things pink, glamorous, and dance-filled with everyone. Who wouldn't want a little twirling in their life, right? 🩰
And oh my, speaking of twirling, Sutton in Ashfield certainly didn't disappoint! It was just delightful! I arrived by train, which is always a pleasure - the gentle swaying rhythm, the soft clickety-clack on the tracks, it's so wonderfully calming. And once I arrived, my darling friend Maisie, who runs a lovely antique shop there, welcomed me with open arms and a pot of tea. (Seriously, it was the perfect blend of Earl Grey with a hint of lemon. She's truly a woman of taste, my Maisie!)
You know me, my dear readers, I'm always searching for new adventures. This time, I found myself charmed by the historical Sutton Manor House. Can you imagine, a manor house right in the middle of this sweet town? The architecture is just stunning, and it made for a gorgeous backdrop to my impromptu photoshoot. Naturally, I had to have my photos taken in my signature pink tutu – just for that added touch of whimsy. You can bet I'll be sharing those beauties on my Instagram later. ✨
I'm a total sucker for a good performance, so I was delighted to find out there was a local dance academy holding its annual showcase! Of course, I had to support those darling youngsters! The entire night was such a delight – it truly warmed my heart to see their passion and talent. Some of those moves were breathtaking, you'll be seeing my dance class inspired makeup and look book soon, my dears. 💄
After the dance showcase, Maisie took me to her favourite spot for supper, The Little Tea Room. And oh, let me tell you, my dears, the food was exquisite! Their quiche is the stuff of dreams. And naturally, everything is served on the most charming vintage china – how could a girl resist?
This week in Sutton in Ashfield has been a testament to my passion for life, laughter, and, of course, pink tutus. It's truly been a whirlwind of dance, delight, and a few too many sweets! The Story So Far:
So, you may be wondering, how did a scientist like me, working on innovative new fabrics in a lab by day, become the dazzling drag queen, Pink Tutu Sparkles, by night? It all began in the midst of my university years, as I embarked on a science degree at the prestigious University of Derbyshire. Yes, I know, science, tutus, not the obvious mix, eh? 🧪 🩰
Turns out, I wasn’t just studying biochemistry! I was a proud member of the university's ballet club, where I got to twirl my heart out with my friends and delve into the grace and artistry of this beloved art form. We were a motley crew, but each and every one of us, dedicated to mastering every arabesque and grand jeté!
Then came the day that changed my life! The student union held a charity event and I was invited to put on a tutu. "For charity", I told myself, but darling, I'm sure you know what happens. I just loved it, absolutely loved it! It felt magical. I was, as the kids would say, "living my truth!" From then on, I was obsessed, scouring charity shops for tutus in every shade and size imaginable. Of course, pink was the star, with its playful energy and whimsical beauty. My dear, I couldn't get enough! 😍
The rest, my darlings, is history. The pink tutu became my trademark, a symbol of joy, empowerment, and my love for all things theatrical. The spark had ignited within, and my desire to share this magic with the world grew. And Pink Tutu Sparkles was born, a joyful embodiment of glitter, glamour, and endless twirls. It was a truly liberating experience to fully embrace my love for performing and, of course, spread the gospel of pink tutus to the masses. It felt as if the world finally clicked into place, like one of those big pink ballet shoes fitting just right. 🥰
