Big Apple, Big Tutu!

Hello lovelies! It's your favourite tutu queen, Pink Tutu Sparkles, signing in live from the Big Apple, New York City! Today marks the 3,153rd day of my "Pink Tutu Sparkles" blog. Can you believe it? It feels like just yesterday I was a scrawny, shy science student from Derbyshire, stumbling into my first ballet class at uni and falling head over heels for tutus - particularly those lusciously pink ones. That was, what, oh...seven years ago now? And I haven't looked back since!

Today's post is all about my fab-u-lous trip to New York. This city never fails to sparkle, and frankly, it matches my sparkly personality perfectly. I love New York. I love Broadway shows! I love their beautiful parks! I love the bustling energy, the fashion, the delicious street food! Honestly, everything about this city calls out to my inner drama queen!

Now, the main reason I wanted to visit New York this time wasn't just for the pizza or the skyscrapers... No, it was for something far more important. For something far more, well... pink! Yes, lovelies, you know it... It was the ballet! New York City Ballet has been on my radar since forever, and this trip was all about soaking up those balletic delights.

My journey started with a trip on the magical, glorious train. You know, nothing screams "diva on the go" more than a first class seat and a champagne glass, complete with an overflowing crystal vase full of fresh pink roses. Because, yes, I am just that extra. It's my "Pink Tutu Sparkles" brand, and my loyal fanbase loves it, honey! I always get asked what I wear on the train, and darling, a tutu is just too impractical!

Honestly, the journey itself was like something straight out of a movie, a dream-like experience where every mile is like a runway. I felt the most dazzling, sophisticated version of myself as I crossed the American landscape, a queen ruling her very own pastel pink kingdom. The whole journey was infused with excitement, anticipation, and let's be honest, a pinch of nervous excitement too.

This New York trip has been full of "oohs" and "aahs". The second I arrived in New York, the magic of it all was breathtaking! The city just radiated this powerful energy! And everyone here seems to be dressed so gorgeously! There was a girl on the street today wearing the most fabulously bright pink jacket with a sparkly bow and a tiny tutu! I almost screamed, but managed to stifle my glee to a rather high-pitched "Oh my goodness, I just love your tutu!"

My favourite part of the trip so far was the breathtaking Broadway show I went to, and honey, it was everything I ever dreamed of and so much more! My little tutu-loving heart nearly burst from the sheer artistry, and it was all brought together by such wonderfully skilled performers. We're talking jaw-dropping aerial moves, powerful stage presence, and costumes so gorgeous it makes me wish I'd brought another hundred tutus in my suitcase just for inspiration!

The next morning, after indulging in the finest croissant in the whole world, I popped by the American Ballet Theatre for a private masterclass, you know, just to limber up and maybe pick up some new tricks! It was absolutely exhilarating, learning alongside talented professionals. The energy in the room was intoxicating and honestly, if it wasn’t for the lovely ballet mistress giving me a little wink and saying “Keep that passion going,” I’d probably still be doing arabesques down that studio.

To keep up my strength for these big events, I've been trying some fab local eateries. Yesterday, I had the best strawberry pancakes! All pink and sparkly with edible glitter and little rainbow sprinkles, it was a match made in sugary heaven! Of course, I wouldn't be a good role model to my little "Sparklebuds" if I only ate sweets. So today, I treated myself to a delicious vegan salad with, you guessed it, a huge dollop of pink sauce on top. It was so colourful and fun to look at, just like all my delicious salads and healthy snacks.

Don't think for a second that a trip to New York wouldn't involve a major shopping spree, though. After all, the city that never sleeps never ceases to inspire, and I’ve definitely picked up some fab new wardrobe additions. You know, there's something special about finding the perfect tutu, a certain kind of magic that gets my creative juices flowing. My aim is always to find new ways to bring colour, fun, and a touch of "pink-sparkly-wonder" to any outfit.

After my exciting trip, I’ve definitely gained inspiration and I can’t wait to put it all into my next show. Don't forget to stay tuned for photos and updates from the show, and check out www.pink-tutu.com. Remember, the goal is to get everyone wearing a pink tutu, one sparkly step at a time. Until then, keep your tutus shiny, your dreams big, and your hearts filled with pink glitter!

Much love, Pink Tutu Sparkles, xo

P.S. If you ever come across a particularly awesome, sparkly tutu, or want to know more about the ballet, don't hesitate to drop a comment and share your thoughts. I can't wait to hear from all my dear "Sparklebuds"! And remember, life is too short to be boring! Wear your favourite tutu, embrace your inner queen, and spread some glitter wherever you go!
