Hello darlings! Your favourite pink tutu-clad queen is back, and this time, we're heading to the seaside! I've just shimmied off the train in Littlehampton, Sussex, and oh, my word, the air is salty, the seagulls are squawking, and the sunshine is glinting off the ocean!
I swear, sometimes life just seems to conspire to put the most fabulous destinations on my radar! Littlehampton was totally unexpected, but as soon as I saw the announcement of a performance at the town's carnival, I knew I just had to go.
This little seaside town has the most adorable vibe. Colourful beach huts, cute little shops with those classic British seaside souvenirs - you know, the mugs and t-shirts - and an atmosphere that makes you want to don your cutest summer frock and stroll down the promenade.
Speaking of frocks, I knew I had to make this trip extra special. What's a pink tutu queen to wear when the sea is calling? Why, a pink tutu that matches the sunset, of course! I'm rocking my new feather boa – you wouldn't believe the deals you can find on the internet when you get lucky - paired with a vibrant hot pink, sequin-covered tutu. This dazzling creation will definitely turn heads on the promenade, I promise you!
Littlehampton is buzzing with the excitement of the carnival! The air is alive with music, the aroma of sugary treats, and the chatter of families enjoying a day out. You can practically feel the joy emanating from every corner! And guess what? My performance slot is in the afternoon, so I have time to enjoy all the excitement before my big moment.
Before we get to the show, let's talk about my journey here. A trip on a train is just about my favourite way to travel, particularly when it comes to day trips. I love being able to look out the window, gaze at the changing scenery, and get swept away by the rhythm of the rails. My fellow passengers might not know it, but they are witnessing a spectacle - it's the most magnificent journey for a queen like me, in her bright pink attire, and my fluffy pink suitcase, which my fellow passenger offered to carry for me! I really am surrounded by the kindest, most generous people.
Did I mention the delightful carriage? The comfy leather seats! And the calming sound of the wheels against the track? It's just the best, and I'm already dreaming of my next train adventure! And wouldn’t you know it? It turns out that this carnival has some kind of vintage car display too, so maybe, just maybe, I'll even get to experience some vintage automobile travel later.
Now, enough about travel! It's showtime! Oh darling, I’m already sweating just thinking about my upcoming performance. The carnival’s main stage is the focal point of the whole affair. Imagine: a brightly painted stage bathed in golden light, with the roar of the crowd and the smell of hotdogs in the air. Talk about a heady mix!
The local drag community is a warm and inviting group. So many kind faces and warm hugs, especially from those queens I already know from my travels and others I’m just getting to know. We're like one big, sparkly family - and Littlehampton seems like the perfect place to make even more friends!
Of course, I’ve got my signature act ready to go - you know, the usual mix of sass, silliness, and plenty of shimmying. Let me tell you, there is no crowd I love more than a seaside one! Everyone’s so relaxed and ready to have fun, so the energy is simply electrifying. And trust me, my dazzling tutus and feathers always guarantee an unforgettable show.
Later tonight, I’m going to check out the local beach! This little beachside haven looks straight out of a postcard. Golden sands, a gentle breeze, and those classic beach huts – I can't wait to experience it all. Perhaps I'll even capture some Insta-worthy snaps with my Tutu-Queen flair. Just you wait!
