Blyth, Oh Blyth! - Post #3282

Hey sweeties, it's your Pink Tutu Sparkles here, live and in colour from Blyth! I know, I know, you're probably wondering why I'm here - a queen of pink, twinkling in a seaside town famous for its, uh, lack of shimmering delights! But darling, this is a journey, not a destination! (Sound familiar, darlings? Haha, I'm being SO dramatic, I know!)

This adventure actually started at the Royal Opera House - I just couldn't resist seeing "Swan Lake". You know me, ballet is practically in my DNA. Remember that iconic "Dying Swan" scene, the way the ballerina pirouettes, the utter grace - I swear I had goosebumps the entire time! It was so sublime that it inspired me to book a spontaneous, whimsical trip to Blyth - that's what happens when Pink Tutu Sparkles has her ballerina moment!

Now, if you haven't been, Blyth's like a blast from the past, like a faded seaside postcard from a bygone era. Honestly, it's got that charming British seaside vibe you can't help but fall for. So, instead of taking the usual motor, I decided to take a proper, vintage railway journey, all the way to Blyth's very own station, with its lovely old platforms and a whiff of seaside salt in the air.

But how could a queen this fab go to Blyth without getting into the pink spirit of the place? I mean, imagine, Blyth and...pink tutus? I simply HAD to inject a touch of Sparkles into this historic setting!

I'm sure it took the locals by surprise! But darlings, everyone in this sweet, quiet town was a total dream. Not only was the entire market full of stunning antique gems and local crafts (that were, like, totally Pink Tutu Sparkles material), but I met the kindest souls you could imagine. Honestly, Blyth reminded me of that one sweet little aunt everyone has in their family: you always have the warmest feelings and kindest words towards them.

The best bit was getting to see the Blyth Heritage Centre, a real journey through history. I'm always fascinated by bygone days. It's truly astonishing how Blyth has changed over time, going from an ancient Roman site to a bustling port! Who knew history was so dramatic! And - it just had to happen - they were showing a silent film in the lovely cinema inside the centre, which really sent me back in time. Can you imagine wearing a big pink tutu to watch a silent movie in Blyth? A girl could dream, right? (Or, a queen... maybe? haha!)

Oh, darling, I nearly forgot about the fabulous cafe where I had my very own "Blyth tea"! If there's one thing better than a traditional afternoon tea with scones and cream (well, for a queen like me, cream, really, more than scone, because we all know it's all about the sweetness, right? Ahem,) - then it's definitely the teacup with Pink Tutu Sparkles doing the tea-time, fabulous in it, wouldn't you agree?

Here are a few fun facts that you might just find sparkling too! Did you know:

  • Blyth is one of the only towns in England that still uses a horse-drawn carriage for ceremonies! Yes, you heard right, horses. (Remember my little horse-drawn carriage trip last month in the Cotswolds, I'll post the pics up later. A dream! ) Now, that's what I call real style.

  • Blyth is said to be where Henry VIII visited to witness his famous "royal fleet" (ships!) in its pomp. Imagine that: King Henry and me, wearing pink, in one day! The ultimate royal party! Maybe Henry loved the colour pink too! And tutus, darling! It would definitely spice up those boring old historic books. I may have a new blog idea!

But of course, all work and no play would make even a sparkling queen like me dreary, so I did manage a few gorgeous bits of shopping! Oh, don't get me wrong, it wasn't all frivolous fun. I did, of course, choose things that can really add a splash of pink tutu glamour to the world! After all, I'm on a mission to make sure that every single woman, girl, or… man!… well, let's be honest, the whole entire universe embraces the magic of tutus! It’s my mission. It’s my life’s purpose, really. Laughs

I know, it's like… Pink Tutu Sparkles is the Pink Tutu Messiah, here to spread joy through fluffy, glittery skirts! That's how I see it, darlings. And what better way to inspire the entire universe than to fill my Pink Tutu Paradise, (I will open one - a giant shop full of sparkles and frills - watch this space! ) with the most stunning bits and bobs that I’ve managed to collect along the way! And who can say, maybe there will even be a little Pink Tutu Sparkles stall on a sunny day in Blyth, because, honestly, it deserves a bit of sparkle!

Anyway, darlings, it’s time to bid you a sparkling adieu! This little pink Tutu Queen has a whole universe to spread the pink magic! (And some serious packing to do.) And don’t forget, you can join me on my travels on our fabulous, pink website, www.pink-tutu.com. I love hearing from all my gorgeous subscribers! Now off I trot to the next town. Where will I pop up next? Maybe next you’ll be catching Pink Tutu Sparkles in a gorgeous, fluffy, pink tutu in your very own town. Who knows! You never know what a Queen like me will be up to next, darling! Catch you all soon, lovelies!

Love,

Pink Tutu Sparkles x
