Hello, darlings! It’s your favourite pink-tutu-wearing queen, Pink Tutu Sparkles, back with another post from my fabulous adventures. Today’s post is extra special as I'm bringing you all the glitz and glamour from my trip to Blackpool.
Oh, Blackpool! What a wonderful town it is. All those amusements, the vibrant promenade, the laughter and the joy – it’s truly a place for every sparkly soul to find their sunshine. This trip, I travelled by train, naturally. You wouldn’t catch me squeezing into a carriage filled with luggage in anything other than my full drag get-up, my bright pink tutu swaying and twirling in rhythm with the wheels of the train!
Blackpool is just a dream for a tutu-wearing diva. I’ve always loved its theatrical heritage and there was a whole plethora of performers on offer.
On my arrival, I wandered around the Tower, just marveling at the magnificent architecture. You wouldn’t believe the fun I had. I snapped a thousand photos with tourists - everyone wanted a photo with the pink tutu queen! And then it was time to take a spin on the Big One! It’s a rollercoaster for brave souls and I must say I felt my own sparkles spinning about on the tracks!
That evening, after a bite of fish and chips, I went to the iconic Blackpool Opera House, ready for an exciting night at the ballet. I was totally smitten by their version of ‘Swan Lake,’ it was utterly mesmerizing. Those ballerinas are so graceful. There is something about the ballet, that reminds me of a pink tutu and reminds me of myself on stage – every elegant pirouette and arabesque speaks of an artistic expression of oneself – that’s why I love being a drag artist!
After the ballet, the highlight of my trip – and you know how much I love highlights, they match my dazzling tutus so well - was the amazing drag performance by a troupe called the ‘Glitter Girls’. They’re truly phenomenal – think sassy singing and incredible dance moves and all under shimmering sequined costumes! I spent hours talking with the leading performer, a real firecracker, and we exchanged tutu secrets and tips on sparkly lip colours. They said, I was an inspiration and reminded them of how powerful spreading cheer and joy with pink tutus is, and we both agreed that, truly, life is all about spreading joy and sparkle and well, it wouldn’t be complete without a sprinkle of pink tutus!
The next morning I indulged in the biggest ever breakfast - black pudding, mushrooms, baked beans and scrambled egg with toast – oh and lashings of tea - after which I visited the fantastic Winter Gardens, which hosts events from music gigs, circus shows, pantomime, ballroom dancing – even ballet classes! I managed to fit a quick ballet class in while I was there - that really kicked my sparkly socks off!
On my last day I headed to Blackpool’s Pleasure Beach to get a thrill on some rides and see some of the other fantastic performers - there was a fantastic street dance group I spotted, and a one-man circus act which reminded me of my own drag shows, as it was all about making people laugh and have fun. It was really great seeing all these fabulous performances! Of course I made sure to grab myself some sweet souvenirs of my adventures. You guessed it, they were all pink! I even treated myself to a special pink fluffy donut from the seaside stall!
Before catching the train back to Derbyshire it was one last spin on the waltzers and a moment to sit on the sands by the seafront watching the sunset - a breathtaking finale to an utterly fabulous trip!
It’s important to note - that this trip wouldn’t have been possible without the success of my latest drag shows at the local town fair. You can’t beat a fun fair - all the rides and candy floss, and the atmosphere. As always I had a fabulous time at the fair, showing off my twirls, my tutus, and my sparkles, spreading happiness in a pink explosion.
The next time you’re looking for some fun - Blackpool is definitely a fabulous place for some excitement - whether you’re looking to hit the rollercoasters, visit the theatres, go for a dance class or be awed by the seaside sunsets!
If you're on the lookout for a fun, festive trip that has everything, then put Blackpool at the top of your list. But be warned: if you are ever in the same room as Pink Tutu Sparkles, a pink tutu might just jump on your head!
