You know me, I just can’t resist a European escapade – especially when there’s a chance to twirl my way through cobbled streets and explore the magic of a city steeped in history. But this time, it wasn’t just the city that had me enchanted; it was the chance to see a stunning performance by the Ballet de l’Opéra de Lyon. Now, don't get me wrong, I’ve always loved a good tutu – they're like edible frosting for the soul! But the grace and beauty of the dancers, the elaborate costumes, and the grandeur of the theater were just breathtaking. I almost lost a teardrop or two! 🥹
The journey was part of the fun, of course. Nothing beats the romantic allure of a train journey. Imagine, darling: window seats overlooking fields bursting with springtime blooms, fluffy clouds drifting by, the rhythmic click-clack of wheels on tracks... All with my fabulous new pink polka dot travel bag, naturally. I filled it to the brim with sparkle, my signature tulle, and my bestest ballet pumps. A girl's gotta have her necessities! 🌸
My first stop, once in Lyon, was the legendary Place Bellecour, the heart of the city, with its majestic fountains and sprawling public square. I couldn’t resist taking a few twirls myself. Just imagine! Picture me in my iridescent pink tutu with shimmering glitter and feathers (did I tell you I love feathers, darlings?!) against the backdrop of the iconic Hotel de Ville. Oh la la! It was the perfect introduction to this city of exquisite architecture and artistic vibrancy! 🤩
Now, darling, I wouldn’t be a true Pink Tutu Sparkles if I didn’t dedicate a whole day to exploring the incredible world of Lyon’s boutiques. Oh, the delights! From vintage finds tucked away in quaint side streets to glittering designer showrooms, I discovered hidden treasures everywhere. I swear, I came back with more pink fabric than luggage! Seriously, what’s a tutu queen without a plethora of fabrics to dream with, darling? 💖
Speaking of dreams, I finally had the chance to visit The Institut Lumière – the very place where cinema was invented! The excitement was palpable! Can you believe it? Cinema…invented in Lyon! The museum showcases everything from the earliest Lumière Brothers film reels to fascinating artifacts of filmmaking history. The magic of cinema combined with the elegance of a historical institution, darling? My head spun! ✨
Now, it wouldn’t be a Pink Tutu Sparkles adventure without some good ol’ fashioned street entertainment, right? The cobbled streets of Lyon are like a stage waiting to be filled with laughter, music, and...yes, tutus! It wouldn't be a proper visit if I hadn’t shared a bit of my passion for tutus with the lovely folk of Lyon, don't you think? 💖 I think so! I mean, what could be more delightful than spreading some tutu joy on the streets, watching little faces light up as they see me in my glorious pink feathered confection, or witnessing wide smiles blossom across faces as they hear my playful tunes and see the joy I express with my flamboyant twirls! 😍
And you know what’s the best part? I always manage to meet the most amazing people when I'm on the road, my darling! I had a lovely conversation with a local baker (wearing a pink apron, of course!) who shared with me the most divine recipes for macarons and petit fours. He even offered to make me a special pink cupcake in my honour! Can you believe it, a cupcake as pretty and delicate as one of my tutus?! 💖 And we chatted about life, his shop, his family – a reminder that even when we're in the throes of glittering performances, sometimes, it’s those simple moments that resonate the most. 🧁
