Hello darlings! It's your favourite pink-tutu-wearing, glitter-obsessed blogger, Pink Tutu Sparkles, checking in from the utterly delightful town of Merthyr Tydfil!
It's been a whirlwind week, let me tell you. From Derbyshire, I ventured down to this Welsh wonderland by a gloriously scenic train ride (I adore the window seat, watching the world whizz by – such a great chance to admire all those fabulous green hills!)
My journey was punctuated with a pit stop at a little vintage shop in Hereford where I found the most divine sparkly sequined handbag – oh my god, you wouldn’t believe the sparkle! It was like a mini disco ball! Perfect for adding that extra je ne sais quoi to my dazzling look.
Reaching Merthyr Tydfil was like stepping into a fairy tale. This quaint, charming town is just brimming with history and character – a true hidden gem! You see, I've been eagerly awaiting this trip for ages – a dream of mine finally coming true! I was headlining a huge show at the majestic Cyfarthfa Castle! Oh my god, I practically shimmered as I walked onto that stage, the historic backdrop was simply magical! The energy in the air was electrifying, with a roaring crowd of lovely faces ready for a show, and oh, I did not disappoint. ?
Speaking of my act, this time I was channeling my inner Victorian ballerina, channeling the ethereal elegance of "Swan Lake." You can’t go wrong with a little classic ballet inspiration for a Pink Tutu Sparkle’s act. And oh darling, those feather boas – the fluffy pink boa flowed with me as I swirled and twirled, all while hitting every high note (thanks to hours of vocal practice – I'm a perfectionist, you know! ?).
And wouldn’t you know, during the intermission, I happened to bump into a troupe of young ballet dancers! Oh, my heart just about melted. These beautiful, bright-eyed girls were simply captivating – all grace and talent, just like little ballet angels. I couldn't resist taking some time to chat with them. Their enthusiasm for dancing and ballet was truly inspiring – reminded me of why I started dancing and got into the whole pink tutu scene.
Speaking of tutus! Did you see my new tutu? Oh my gosh, I am completely besotted with it! It's made of the softest, most ethereal, silk – you just have to feel it to believe it! A lavish hot pink hue – like the prettiest cotton candy dreams. It was a treasure I found in a little vintage store down in Bath, you see. Just look at it! This is what I mean when I say a pink tutu can literally change your world. ?
The performance was a huge success. I mean, the place was absolutely buzzing! People were dancing in the aisles – my heart just soared! Seeing them all so captivated, so utterly engaged with the art of “tutu” – the whole pinkness of it all. That’s why I do it, love! I absolutely love bringing joy to people, spreading that little sprinkle of pink tutu magic, inspiring everyone to live their lives to the fullest, filled with a touch of sparkle. It’s a simple concept really, just be a bit extra, embrace your inner queen – a little pink tutu goes a long way!
Later, we celebrated the night's success with a delicious Welsh feast at a little tavern called the "The Red Dragon". Oh my god, you wouldn't believe the Welsh cakes – simply heavenly. The music, the dancing, the merriment – just utterly divine – perfect for winding down from the performance, getting into character for the day!
Before I left, I took a little stroll around the town to admire its enchanting beauty. This place has a truly magical atmosphere. I took a picture under a towering Victorian clock tower, it seemed so fitting with my ensemble – pink tutu and all – a reminder of how a dash of pink can brighten the world.
The following day, I took a bit of time to wander through Cyfarthfa Park, a true gem of green in the town. The flowers are blooming in a stunning array of colours, truly breathtaking! It was the perfect way to enjoy a bit of peaceful tranquility.
Speaking of serenity – my new passion – I stumbled upon a little tea shop, so quintessentially British. I enjoyed a delightfully delicate afternoon tea, indulging in those divine mini cakes and finger sandwiches with the best, strongest cup of tea. Pure bliss darling.
Of course, it wouldn't be a proper Pink Tutu Sparkle adventure without a shopping trip! This town has some fabulous independent stores and I snagged some amazing goodies for my wardrobe: a fluffy, lilac fur boa for a little extra oomph and the most divine vintage sequin top – just the perfect touch of glamour. Can’t wait to try these beauties at my next performance.
Merthyr Tydfil truly stole a little bit of my heart, filled with its history, charming scenery, welcoming locals. And those stunning castles - sighs with delight
I hope to come back to this magical place soon!
